When Mikey make that comment about the smell of the tea and how just like a beautiful person its whats on the inside that counts...I Awww'd out loud. Beautiful statement indeed!
I’m in Taipei right now and I’ve really learned a lot of useful information from your videos. It’s a great destination and organized so that tourists who don’t speak Chinese can get around. Also I point a lot.
Please, please, pppllleeeassse do a couple videos about tea. Especially how different cultures make tea, tea ceremonies and the best way to brew. That would be amazing!!! Love ur videos!
Mikey I love how excited you get about all the great places and types of food you eat. Deep fry the broccoli drench it in hot oil and fried garlic. I know you'd try it at least once.
another great vlog mikey i just love Taiwan only spent 8 hours there on a cruise ship tour but just loved it and decided i must do a land based trip there, its my favourite country next to china
This is one of my favorite Mikey Chen videos. I have cardio problems so I could never climb that mountain. It is so very beautiful. Thank you for showing me something I would never see in person. Also Thank you for teaching me all about Asia and the wonderful food it has.
I went up Elephant Mountain this past spring on a Sunday morning while visiting there and about half way up, the locals were playing ping pong. Next time I'll have to make the night trip up looks awesome.
Those pancakes look amazingly tasty - they look like parottas! Also, that Jiggly cake is mouth watering - I always prefer those cream-less tea cakers more than any other.
Mike, you and the team should come and visit Scotland, learn where Angus beef comes from, and give haggis a try, and search for good old Nessie while your here,. Come during the summer and you can see the sun set between egg and rum ( Scottish islands) .
Corrie Venters I keep trying to convince him! I'm over in Edinburgh until next August when we move to Glasgow. My in laws are over in Dunoon, really looking forward to Christmas by Loch Long!
One of the few item we disagree on i think sometimes broccoli is my favourite veg, so good stir-fryed oh and broccoli and parmesan/stilton soup, now I want that soup and spicy stir-fry for dinner such a warmer on a cold day. Love getting ideas from you even if it does come from a rabbit hole of ideas (see one thing and gives me ideas) keep up good work, your vids make me so hungry.
Nice Hotel basic accommodations, clean and spacious, pretty city, adventurous walking trail, come to Stone Mountain GA USA and thank you for an amazing view.
Hotels that comp Mike: “wow this place is beautiful, wonderful staff, awesome amenities.” Hotels that he paid for: “umm it’s a bit outdated, furniture is tacky, I guess it’s clean” Be honest, we appreciate those reviews
"You're never THERE" Truer words.... don't feel bad about being rejected by the cat. It's looking for food. And you had none. May your life be full of jiggly cake.
I just love the effort you put in to get jiggly cake. It looks worth the search! (Though now I'm curious about the two-flavored versions I've seen pop up on UA-cam...)
hahaha, definitely know the "air" about taipei you are talking about, i think its the city smell brought out by the humidity of taipei. Also the jiggly cake you ate seems to be 古早味蛋糕(old style cake), they have become pretty popular the last couple years
Hey Mike. Awesome video as always. Some answers and some questions. "There's something in the air that lets you know it's Taipei" Yes, that's is very true. I personally think it's the mood/speed of the people in Taipei plus it's style. I've always told my wife (American) that I like places where there's life. She didn't understand what I meant until she visited Taipei with me. "九層塔" (nine layer pagoda?) is what's commonly labeled in english as "Thai Basil". If it's called something different by other parts of chinese culture, I would love to know. It's a veggie/herb that I can't live without >.< Where was the place that you got 刈包 at? It's it's going to be on a strictly dumpling video, you don't have to tell me. I'll wait until the video comes out. Did you grow up with simplified or traditional chinese? If simplified, did you have any problems reading the traditional in Taiwan? Or was it not a big deal because you can always just ask verbally?
Mike keeps saying Asians don't eat broccoli, and then all those meals had broccoli, and they're in Asia for Asians, sooooo....LOL. Truth revealed: MIKE doesn't eat broccoli. Everybody else, however...
Hey Mike, been watching your videos for years, first time leave a comment though. Love your videos. Just so you know, 九层塔 is just the Chinese name for basil.
YIBING LI We call it Thai Basil or Holy Basil here in the UK. It's difficult to get here in Edinburgh, hoping that I can find it in Glasgow when we move next summer!
I think in the video they were using regular Italian Basil, which is actually a little bit different from Thai Basil or Holy Basil. Italian Basil has smoother leaves compared to the other kind. If you have had Phó at a Vietnamese restaurant, the green leavy thing they serve you along with the bean sprouts and lime wedges is Thai Basil. I live in the states, and I don't ususally see Thai Basil at regular grocery stores often either. Maybe you can try your local Asain grocery store when you get a chance?
The Jiggly cake u ate may be much more famous in Tainan. There are more variants/flavors (e.g. sweet potato/taro/chocolate are embedded into the cake.). You probably can try it f you visit Tainan again.
that kitty speaks a foreign language which is why she didn't understand you. lol wonderful video mike. i hope u can decide on a company to produce your hot oil!
That view was gorgeous ! Thank you for taking us along with you to all these great places . You are awesome!

That view from the mountain was absolutely gorgeous. Amazing

Same Mikey Chen and Steve1989 are probably the working better, on my blood pressure, than my medicines
The views were absolutely spectacular. Thanks for showing them, I really enjoy watching your videos.
6:14 This was actually where I ate after school when I was in middle school. So much good memory! And the price is still the same.
thank you so much for taking us up the hill very beautiful. It really is nice seeing things I would never know of or get to myself.
Please, please, pppllleeeassse do a couple videos about tea. Especially how different cultures make tea, tea ceremonies and the best way to brew. That would be amazing!!! Love ur videos!

"Nine Layer Pagoda" is the name for Taiwanese basil
Hotels that comp Mike: “wow this place is beautiful, wonderful staff, awesome amenities.”

@Mikey Chen Nine layer pagoda is what they call Basil in Chinese.
Mikey, you should have your own line of hot oil!
That's why he is over there, to develop his own brand of hot oil.
Cool beans
That's why he's there, to make his hot oil.
You're joking right? Yea, you're joking.

What is the name of the scallion pancake place? Thank you!

+YIBING LI 九層塔 is Thai basil, not Italian basil.
The Jiggly cake u ate may be much more famous in Tainan. There are more variants/flavors (e.g. sweet potato/taro/chocolate are embedded into the cake.). You probably can try it f you visit Tainan again.
That cat probably escaped from one of the local restaurants, much love mike!
that kitty speaks a foreign language which is why she didn't understand you. lol wonderful video mike. i hope u can decide on a company to produce your hot oil!
What is the name of that mountain you climb at the end? Thanks!
