    Robert Patrick shares a story of James Cameron giving him the confidence to advance his career, along with the role of T-1000 in Terminator 2.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    Robert Patrick (Peacemaker, Terminator 2) joins us this week and shares his unique perspective in this industry with a forty year tenure, no practical training, and missed opportunities before he found sobriety. Robert opens up on how despite how iconic his character as T-1000 was in Terminator, and how he owes his career to James Cameron, he had to change his appearance to distance himself from the character. We also talk about his chemistry and bond with John Cena, how Demi Moore’s psychic helped save his life, and how Robert got Clint Eastwood to break on set uncontrollably.

      He is one of the most ominous, menacing, creepy antagonists of all time. Besides maybe Darth Vader or Michael Myers, no other villain embodies the fear and angst that he did as the T-1000.

    The T-1000 was absolutely terrifying. He was cold, smooth, and sinister all at once He ran with such inhuman speed and grace while maintaining an emotionless yet relentlessly focused stare. The T-1000 running after you is the stuff of nightmares. The way Robert brought the character to life was mesmerizing.

      I was in the forth grade when I saw T2 in cinemas. Had nightmares for weeks, and had to close my eyes every time Robrer was in the scene, I can still clearly remember the fear, when the sound design and this menacing thing walked into a scene. Holly shit. It also taught me you don't need a hideous monster to create horror...

    Such a brilliant piece of casting for T2. So thin and unassuming compared to Arnold's bruiser T-800, but Robert Patrick was so intense, and after he chases down the car, you never doubt that he's more than a match for the much larger T-800.

      I can not think of a better(worse or more terrifying) bad guy to have that the T-1000(not listing all the reason, many already have, we all know why the T-1000 would scare the crap out of you if it was chasing you), and add to that the way Robert played the character, was just perfect. He is by far my favourite bad guy actor, such a range in the movie for him, from having to act like a human police officer interacting with other people, to the cold merciless killing machine. You only say that because Scully was in it from the beginning. Your used to seeing her with Mulder, so that's why you believe there should be two agents investigating, instead of one.

      @@peterlenham3180 The show is based around two agents lol it doesn't work with only one and no one would want to watch it with only one. Name me one show that only has one lol There's always at least two, even if there's only one main agent or detective etc... there's always a support that's always there. The show requires two, that's why he wouldn't be able to carry it alone. Not because he's just used to seeing Scully and Mulder. Which is still a good enough reason either way, Xfiles is Scully and Mulder. There's no Xfiles without them both, that's why Scully quit shortly after because she knew it was hopeless without Mulder. Just look how much Law and Order SVU went downhill after Stabler left. Robert Patrick would never have successfully carried the show alone in a million years. Scully needs Mulder, Walt needs Jesse, Benson needs Stabler. It's just how it is.

      @@peterlenham3180 Considering that the show was written to be a skeptic and a believer, balancing each other other out... yea, it should be two agents investigating instead of one. Also, Duchovny and Anderson were the central part of the show, it was their personae that made it what it was. Doggett and Reyes, while they sort of looked the part just never really captured the legacy that Duchovny and Anderson established.

    • @peterlenham3180
      @peterlenham3180 2 роки тому

      @@boedye No they couldn't capture it. They'd already been together for seven seasons, so Doggett and Reyes weren't really given a chance. I do believe if they had of carried on, they still would be seen as a pale imitation. The problem is, once you see someone do something for so long, it's hard to see someone else do it when they take over.

    One scene in T2 really exemplifies how good RP is as the T-1000. It’s a pretty simple scene when he knocks on the foster parents door and asks about John. There’s this cold menace behind his performance while he’s being polite and smiling and doing nothing threatening. He found a way for the threat to be felt while being hidden behind his words and mannerisms, more subtly than I’ve seen.

      Jenette Golstein was a big part of those scenes with the foster parents to, especially when the mother was the T1000, the phone call you knew instantly it wasn't her anymore, that scene was all kinds of creepy.

    Some people don't want to be remembered for just one role. Robert though is humbled, because while he gets a ton of T2 Questions, he knows at the same time how much he struck a fortune with it; his entire career launched from it, along with knowing that when he dies, he is immortalized by that one role. Some of the best actors make great movies, yet they never have one iconic character that people will always remember for years and years to come, but Robert knows that people will remember him for the T-1000 and that is a awesome thing to have in life.

    I saw him in Peacemaker and, until this video popped up, I had no idea he was the guy who played the T-1000 - normally I am REALLY good at spotting people I’ve seen before, even if they’ve changed a lot but, in my mind, the T-1000 is literally a robot that never ages; I literally could not believe this guy was the T-1000 because the T-1000 is a young guy. That film was so well made and performed; this guy’s performance was absolutely incredible.
