Such illumination cuts across the centuries and pierces the heart. How else could we advance in the spiritual life without amazing insights from such experienced guides? Truly, St. Isaac the Syrian glorifies God; truly no other religion possesses such wisdom as holy Orthodoxy; all glory to the Most Holy Trinity; have mercy on us sinners and help us repent in these evil days.
Keep fighting brother. May GOD bless you and forgive your sins. I hope GOD forgives us all and give us strength to stop sinning so we can become more like our Lord Jesus Christ the most holy and pure King of kings
For me it is not often even that pleasurable in itself, in the moment it is never as good as what the temptation deludes me into thinking it will be. This never changes and yet I struggle to remind myself of this truth every time.
So many great comments. God help us all! It is always a big let down indeed. My Godfather once told me that I believed it was really the passions which have infected the soul which are to blame. The body is capable of pleasure indeed but the body too is actually suffering and wants God. Our Soul, through the misuse of Free Will, via the infectious passions and through succumbing to Temptation actually abuses herself AND the Body. Remember when Christ said “If not these Children then these Stones themselves would Cry out” The Creation Herself groans and cries out for the coming of the Lord. Indeed, humanity is the only creature (aside from the demons) that doesn’t ceaselessly worship God. I thought this was an interesting perspective and actually helped me realize more that it is not my Bodies fault, but my Free Will is to blame. I am abusing both Soul and Body. The Passions are what Saint Paul refers to as the Flesh in His letters. The Sins of the Flesh are indeed the Passions. Forgive me if I am wrong, I believe I found this in the writings of the Fathers before.
Please pray for me that I may have strength and victory over sin the flesh the devil and the world im so weak I desire to glorify God and love him with my whole being but to my shame I do not 😞😞😞
@@Gesu_Re_dei_re The Saint's unanimously disagree with your Idea. Everything originates from God, yes, but just as Christ is given everything from the Father, So does he give the gift of his energies to his creation via Theosis. Is not Christ pleased with the Christians love of his Dear Mother?
@@Gesu_Re_dei_re Yes and that intercession can save us. So asking the Theotokos to save us is just what we need to do. The ultimate source of all salvation being God the Father is implied and understood. That does not dissolve the heavenly hierarchy like protestants think. Are you implying St Seraphim of Sarov was wrong when he prayed "Most holy Theotokos save me a sinner"?
Powerful, convicting, sobering, terrifying and yet encouraging - if, with His assistance and the assistance of all the saints, we battle and turn from these dog like passions.
The more often I pray the more I feel in moments of temptation I am in control and are making the decisions. This sobriety also makes me so much more aware of my guilt and fault alone in sinning. Still then, I have all the more awareness to repent and humiliate myself. God gives everyone the opportunity to become better in so many ways.
What I learned from listening this is when carnal desires and thoughts attack you should do alongside prayer is workout, like push ups, sit ups, or go for a walk. Or another thing lie down on the floor and pray.
Thank you for this channel. You do a great job in these readings. I always look forward to new ones. Your voice, phrasing and rhythm, pauses and your slowing at times to accent an important point is done very well. Keep reading to us.
The secret is to always be at the feet of the Lord in a waiting stillness of mind like a rock that is not moved by the winds of the world ( easy to undearstand dificult to do until the day we see only the Lord in every step we go)
Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
Just because the Fathers taught against Sin, doesn't mean the Church does not sin. Jealousy is a bitter foe, for example, that cannot discern the Good it likes to spoil.
How is it that a dog, finding the stinking corpse of some dead animal, will roll in it will unrestrained glee; and then, as if proud of his deed, runs back to his master and tries to spread his wretched odor to him. Yet, is this not our own beloved family pet and guardian? How Man's fall causes Rover such humiliation.
We will never completely overcome sin. Romans 7, Paul struggled then in the last verses he says, " Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ"..... How? Romans 5/6 By giving us HIS Righteousness! Thats is Grace, so now we are not condemned Romans 8, for we have Spiritual nature and sinful nature.....both our enmity against eachother! So set your mind on the Saviour.....renew your mind by what Christ has done for you..... And when you sin.... Thank God the work of the Cross is work of mercy and forgivness.

Never ever give up
And do not beat yourself up over this, friend.

Thank you!
Be careful you do not associate Evil with Good, and vice versa. The temptation of conflict between Church and State can come in different forms.
