@@Wheels2Walking love your channel man but with some of your comments it’s actually cheaper to buy for the month itleast for me it is since getting to. Thanks for the inspiring video! I've had Long Covid for a year and a half and finally recovered to the point that I want to get back out into the world again. I'm ambulatory, but with the chronic fatigue and pain my doc and I agreed that a chair is the way to go. I really look forward to the day I can go back to the gym and the dojo!
Thank you, Richard. I get around like "Crutch Boi" and you have given me the courage to admit that I should be in a wheelchair. I've fought this long enough, I'm getting wheels!
@@christiclyde4792 You just did Christi. I feel the same. I just got my chair 2 weeks ago and boy, it opens up a new world for me. Rock on Mark Kyle. I hope you get your chair.
I'm in my 33rd year as a T4-5 para and I wish we had social media back in the 80s when I had my accident. I stayed positive and never had a problem dating, however, there are some people out there who are just shallow and can't look past your wheels to see you. I was 18 and just out of high school by one week when I had my accident and I still went to college as planned, (just started 6 months late) and have enjoyed a long career in the IT industry. Never give up and never stop trying, you can do more than most would ever believe. Although, you two did something in this video that I have never been able to do in my 33 years as a para, and that was wearing a pair of shorts. I have never wanted my skinny little legs showing at all. You both have great women backing you, so hang on to them
@Martyr4JesusTheChrist I was in the South when I had my accident and while I was in College, then moved to the Midwest. I could very easily see that sort of attitude in women out West. To me, women in the South are much more loving, for lack of a better word.
Yet another fantastic video! Confidence is everything!! When I teach dating seminars, a huge amount of the time is talking about how to build confidence and how to accept rejection without taking a hit to your confidence. Also yay for finding alternative methods of intimacy! Never be afraid to explore, try new things and communicate with your partner about your fun times :)
Good shit guys! Broke my neck at 17 and 5 /12 years later I can say making myself get out and just do things has been the most important part of my recovery. It is still a daily struggle and I got plenty of progress to make, but it's the mindset of telling yourself to just go do it, even if you don't want to, that will bring you the most. Staying in and doing nothing is one of the WORST things you can do for yourself both physically and more importantly mentally! Your mind can be your own worst enemy in this. Don't defeat yourself. Keep up the great content!
Keep up the videos, I think you are one of the most inspiring people on the Internet. I’m about 8 1/2 years behind you in wheel chair skills and a little older than you, but you are improving my confidence one video at a time! You should be really proud how far you have come.
I’m an 18 year old born with Spina Bifida and I was lucky enough to find a wonderful woman that have been with me for 2+ years now! So what I’m curious about is your workout routine! I’ve been wanting to start, but I just don’t know where to begin. I’m paralyzed from below my knees down, so I still have full upper body control.
Gared Dore Thank you I will! I always keep a positive mind when it comes to my disability. That’s why I’m going to school to be a pediatric anesthesiologist, so I can see disabled kids and help ease their minds and show them you can do whatever you want in a wheelchair! Because I know I struggled with various things when I was younger I had so many questions and worries, so I hope I can not only help them as a doctor, but as also a friend!
This video has helped me plan for when I’m able to be on my own. To be honest all your videos have helped me see the person I can be. My outlook on my situation has changed so much.
I'm literally in tears right now, you guys art inspiring to me. See I have cerebral palsy, like you I'm in a wheelchair but to tell you the truth I've been putting myself for many years I've been praying a lot, and just recently I decided to turn my life around. This is a grate video. When I was first injured (t-9/t-12 incomplete) One of the first people I came across on Instagram was Matt. Me being a huge car guy that was the most hurtful thing for me was not being able to drive anymore. So I would look for people in wheelchairs that had bad ass cars. I have always drove manual transmission cars so having to go to an automatic was heartbreaking to me. Then as I started gaining movement back in my body I was drawn into you by your screen name @wheels2walking. That became my only focus and goal was to walk again. When I get weak or down on myself I think of the people in wheelchairs that would KILL to be given the Second chance that I am. I thank you guys for putting yourself out there for the likes of others. For me I didn’t even know what a SCI was before I had one. I maybe walking again but there’s so much more to it then that and people are just uneducated.

I have multiple sclerosis and currently have to use a wheelchair. These videos are a lifesaver. They help me look at my life differently and I know that my life is not over. I can still live confidently and have fun as well. Thank you for being a great example for those of us who must use a wheelchair.
Man it is so Awesome what you guys are doing, I know you are inspiring so many people both Disabled and Abled. If you are in a wheelchair and you see this than you know you have no excuse and if you are not in a chair than you really have no excuse. You better be killing it! No matter what.

This channel is motivating me so much as I prepare to become a wheelchair user once again. I don't have a sci. but a disorder, cmt(charcot marie tooth disease)that has progressed to the point of me needing a chair probably most of the time. This channel is motivating the heck out of me. Thank you for making these videos my legs are breaking down eventually I'll be in the same place and and to boot I had a stroke 14 years ago all the medical procedures for me are very serious to get around you inspire me to keep going as much as I can
The thing I absolutely love about you is what you see is what you get. You are really open and honest about your disability. I’ve seen others who say they have paralysed legs yet their family Facebook pages shows otherwise. You are the real deal and I admire you for it. An inspiration for people like me who are sci and I have someone I can genuinely admire.
Thank you so much for these videos! The "fresh start on life" perspective is a great tool and I have done more in the 5 years since my accident than I did in 20 before it.
Two dudes talking openly and honestly about sex. Fucking awesome. We need more of that on the internet. Very nicely done - I certainly learned something.
I had my assessment for my wheelchair today. They wanted me to go straight to a power chair. I prefer not to. So we agreed. I'd start with self propelled but I've to look into electric assistants and funding for it. It's starting to sink in, I'll have my own chair by Christmas. And I need to raise/get funded something in the region of £5,000... I should add. Thank you to you, because without your videos I wouldn't have had a clue what I was talking about or wanting when it came to the chairs design.
SmartDrive is a pretty good power assist. It works well, holds a charge for well over a day, and can be controlled via a bluetooth watch! The only problem is that it is around $5,000 CAD, although that isn't that big of a deal if you have good enough insurance or live in countries like Canada for example.
@Martyr4JesusTheChrist I have multiple sclerosis. I'm unable to walk far and weakness is setting in - hence they recommended electric. But medically docs and nurse etc always recommend forcing to keep moving for as long as possible, once you stop you can't gain it back kind of thing. Hence I'm looking at an assistant device for manual, which will keep some movement going but also not kill me in the process.
@@aceoldford266 yeah we don't have insurance based system here. We do get funding for electric or self propelled or manual chairs no bother. But of we want an assistant device , we need to find that funding ourselves, through charity or savings. As I live on disability finding savings just isn't possible.
I’m glad I found this channel That way I don’t feel alone. I live with chronic pain I just quite smoking well yesterday. I used Chantix.it made it easier to not want to smoke. I figured quite smoking will help my pain.
Mentioned it before but im 70, t10 complete. Accident in 2000. Been doing ok. But as i started reading your posts and others, i have gotten much more motivated in going to the gym and such. Still working on wheelies though !
great video!!! thank you for promoting all the veggies. and thanks for the tip about putting lemons or limes in water to prevent UTIs. i will start doing that :)
Thank you for the pep talk I am definitely in a place in life where I needed that after a battle with cancer, and everything that came with it even a right leg amputation after Chemo... It's certainly perfect timing for where I am now in my life thanks...
your posts are so helpful. So much of what you say is relevant to my situation. I love the advice about just taking action. make mistakes and try again. thank you xx
What you recommend for someone who is iv nutrition isnt allowed to workout because joints dislocate out of place but as an ex athlete im dying inside to be active and feel like there's no support locally for me. I have ehlers danlos syndrome
Fellow zebra! I appriciate the sentiment of this video, I actually struggling to not be super judging myself right now, because I *do* spend much of my time in bed, not because I want to, but because my body just... I have to conserve spoons, and it's healthiest for me to *not* shower everyday (with POTS especially, showers are straight up dangerous for me, I'm thankful that I just started getting a person to help me out a couple times a week, but... Yeah...) Glad to see other eds peep, though... I'm trying to not be judging myself and I just have to remind myself that they are addressing different challenges, so mine in some ways are much less challenging, and in other ways more limiting I guess just focus on knowing our own bodies and doing what we need to be healthiest and feel confident (I guess, lol... Idk) :-/
Another Zebra here too! I do low impact, body weight only exercises that are horizontal (floor only). Those are safer for my body and easier on my POTS. I was a figure skater and a runner so I totally feel you. Look up exercise routines for POTS, the majority of those do okay with joints too. KT tape or joint braces to support during workout.
I deeply miss working out and being able to better maintain my hygiene. I am disabled by my Chiari Malformation, and with that, I also have a lot of other internal deformities, POTS, suspected MCAS and EDS. I think the takeaway from this video, even if you’re like me, where you may be unable to do a lot of what’s in this video, is to not give up and to continue trying any ideas you come up with. Having all of the accommodation tools that could help you could give you a boost in energy, lessen pain, etc. That’s not always enough to be able to do what you’d like, but, sometimes, it can be enough to do a little bit, or even more in ways that are applicable to you.
asperigus, broccoli, and spinach, are my fav veggies i eat those every week, and spinach almost daily, my favorite fruits are grapes, strawberries, and peaches
I'm curious if you have any advice on fatigue? I have such severe pain (CRPS) that I'm exhausted on a good day. I love hitting the gym but I don't go often because I'm just too tired. I keep up with my physio but that wipes me out for at least the day of, if not the next day too. My diet is clean (no added sugars, minimal carbs, lots of veggies, protein, healthy fats) I am eating at a caloric deficit because I need to lose about 50lbs that I gained while house-bound before I got my chair (I have tried without the deficit and it doesn't change my energy levels). We are also heading into the Canadain winter, which means increased pain and much more limited mobility.
Hi Richard! This is 2 years late. But I've been without a decent chair for this, the second summer. Watching your videos give me hope. But we don't have the warm weather, easier terrain in Pittsburgh nor capabilities of finding a decent chair. I'm ready to give up trying. Funding is always an issue. Need your input
Gay woman here! I will soon be a wheel chair user due to nueropathy and other chronic disease. I've been sick and in pain 5 years. My life and dating life was totally stolen from me. This was a huge help. And now I'm pretty excited to start over. I want to get back in to archery. Ps you left out the benefits of having strong arms from using a wheel chair 😉 just saying.
How long will it take to gain sufficient arm and shoulder strength to move outside easily all day. I have just got my wheelchair and I a still a bit concerned about going out on my own. I have concerns about hills up and down, steps uneven surfaces, I supposed the same as everyone else! I am not a young man but a 62 yrs woman but who has always kept fit, I swim and use my own gym at home. I was a soldier for over 20 yrs and I m determined to keep living my life To the full. Thank you for the videos

Austin Bolding hey Austin ! I got injury from after shooting as well. My first question to you would be what you care about? What did you want to do? What motivates you or puts a smile on ur face ? Make a list. Even if it seems rediculous and impossible. Just brain storming. Get it out. Then there’s a fun game almost you can play with ok. How do I pull this off. Even if it seems super unlikely. Think of it like a video game. What’s the hacks or little tricks you can do to get around potential barriers. I beg you don’t change your goals because of injury. How you may get there is probably gonna be different. If u ever wanna chat hit me up. Best of luck
Great video. Can you provide the name and link to the car hand contol. Looks interesting. How do you like it. Any insights on hand controls? I am doing some research on hand controls and would be interested in your options.
Just a suggestion, learn AutoCAD or maybe better SketchUp. Start with the free version. Lots and lots of companies need CAD guys in every industry. Mechanical (factories) and Architectural (Architects and homebuilders). Lots of work out there and it is great for your mind. If you have any mechanical aptitude, you can do it. Lots of free tutorials online as well. Maybe you want to give it a try.......

But of we want an assistant device , we need to find that funding ourselves, through charity or savings. As I live on disability finding savings just isn't possible.
Love your positive vibes! Man keep the videos coming I enjoy watching 🤠
Couldn’t agree more man, wheelchairs are ace, especially my electric ones!
I’m glad I found this channel
That way I don’t feel alone.
I live with chronic pain I just quite smoking well yesterday. I used Chantix.it made it easier to not want to smoke. I figured quite smoking will help my pain.
The smokes are tough, stick with it! I'm just over a month since a cig healthy feels so much better!
Mentioned it before but im 70, t10 complete. Accident in 2000. Been doing ok. But as i started reading your posts and others, i have gotten much more motivated in going to the gym and such. Still working on wheelies though !
I am not in a wheel chair but love your vedios. So impresration for any person.
great video!!! thank you for promoting all the veggies. and thanks for the tip about putting lemons or limes in water to prevent UTIs. i will start doing that :)
Great video as always Robert and Matt I love all of your videos. Keep up your great work!
Great episode 🤘
Way to go Matt awesome video ! You and Thalia make a great team so awesome
Thank you for the pep talk I am definitely in a place in life where I needed that after a battle with cancer, and everything that came with it even a right leg amputation after Chemo... It's certainly perfect timing for where I am now in my life thanks...
You guys have definitely given me food for thought
That guy must be LOADED 😱
your posts are so helpful. So much of what you say is relevant to my situation. I love the advice about just taking action. make mistakes and try again. thank you xx
One of the most important videos for us wheelchair boys
Yeah dude. I hope all the new wheelies see this 🤘🏻
Always skip leg day!
T12 Para...naw boy, still don't skip leg day. Stretching and small weight bands.
stupid impressed with the 65 lbs dumbbell press though!
Yeah...)
Glad to see other eds peep, though... I'm trying to not be judging myself and I just have to remind myself that they are addressing different challenges, so mine in some ways are much less challenging, and in other ways more limiting
I guess just focus on knowing our own bodies and doing what we need to be healthiest and feel confident
(I guess, lol...
Also a zebra who was a former athlete. I went to a wedding and used to dance and I couldn't even dance for one song. It made me so sad.
Great insight from a males perspective plus Matt's soon to be wife 🙂
Real dope video. 🔥🔥🔥
This was so important to hear, thank you ♥️
I love it, thanks.

Hi April! Thalia really is pretty great :) Matt is a lucky guy
Love watching your videos!! Very informative! ❤️
As a wheelchair user, this is showing off. Just be yourself.
Thank you guys for your videos always inspirational. Could you make one with a quad, no finger mobility?

You inspire me to do bettter!
Thx for the motivation...best wishes from germany.
This was very interesting, good information. 👍👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for posting these videos. :)
oooh, I heard a little Tony Robbins in here. Self help is fantastic
I’ve been in a wheelchair going on seven years it’s not easy but it’s true what you say
Hey I’m a t11 /t12 I been injured about a little over a year about how long it takes to get back stronger
I’m 40 years old I need some advice
"It is a 'new start' for me; at 59. Thank you, inspiration is wonderful for this kid."
[ Confidence is low right now ]😢
I wish I can meet you guys, I been on a wheelchair for 2 years and I’m incomplete and I can move my left hand but I can’t really move my right hand
Pretty good information. I believe in eating fresh and nutrition.
Amazing video❤
How long will it take to gain sufficient arm and shoulder strength to move outside easily all day. I have just got my wheelchair and I a still a bit concerned about going out on my own. I have concerns about hills up and down, steps uneven surfaces, I supposed the same as everyone else! I am not a young man but a 62 yrs woman but who has always kept fit, I swim and use my own gym at home. I was a soldier for over 20 yrs and I m determined to keep living my life To the full. Thank you for the videos
This is need help with so much. My confidence is so low esp due to this. Would automatic car nor be possible?
Any latest update on this guy wit the corvette? If so please do i like to see how he is doing and Wheel2Walking too.
Hey man I’m paralyzed a bullet went through my T12 and I’d really would love to know ways and things I can to make money cause I don’t have money at all and neither does my family and I’d love to be able to do the kinda stuff y’all get to do please help me tellin me things I can to start my career and life I’m only 21
Austin Bolding hey Austin !
Great stuff, thank you :) Could you explain about the difference in tires?
💯
