I'm pulling for you bubba love from Colorado we all deserve happiness and those that work harder deserve a deeper level of satisfaction remember that and go balls to the wall in your pursuit of happiness
The hardest part for me as a wheelchair user is getting into bathrooms. Most doors are extremely heavy, opening them while trying to wheel into the room, is a finger pinching, smashing event. They have the wheelchair access symbol, but they are really inaccessible.
Brian Offin hey there- wheelchair user here will be back to making content again soon on instagram and UA-cam. Not a big channel but everyone is welcome and you’d be free to ask questions in comments that I’ll be able to reply too (and I’m sure others could too) just if you or anyone is interested
I’m not in a wheelchair often anymore, but I know as an amputee if I see another amp we always do the total dude “nod” thing like an incognito Jeep wave. Lol.
Um Im assuming a jeepwave is if you're in a jeep and see another peep in a jeep - you wave in acknowledgement they ina jeep too .... ? Am I right in my assumption? Ill be using a wheelchair sooner or later, I would like to start my own secret handshake 😃
Hey there. Greetings from Germany. I think your Videos are just so amazing. Im a "complete" healthy person, but im working with a lot of disabled person so i kind of get confronted with the thoughts from people that dont know a lot about weelchair users or disabled persons. Keep up ure great Mindset 👌
They should definitely have aspects of this in schools because it offers the opportunity for everyone to learn about different disabilities and those that have them and help some people not be so fearful of hurting someone’s feeling when it comes to asking questions about an individual’s injury or disability... definitely something I would want to see starting in elementary schools
When I first sat on a Roho air cushion I literally almost cried, it was that painful. I lasted only 20 minutes. Along with being Hemiplegic I have Heterotopic Ossification in my left hip joint which appeared there after my coma, literally poking me in the sciatic nerve. I had to beg to be removed from the seat and they kept telling me it was good for me. Eventually I would get violent and try to tip the chair over to relieve myself from the pain while screaming. It was far worse then when I got burnt on my arm and melted some skin off.
I went down 3 dress sizes when I got my chair- would you mind if when I’m back up and adulting and making UA-cam, that I use this wheelchair ask me anything in Scotland 🏴? your videos have been a blessing in my on and off dark times... I’d like to do something like this too.
Emilia TCG - I’m from Scotland too, I have a friend in a wheelchair and this would be cool to watch knowing that we have the same laws and programs so I could help more than I would watching an American.
I looooove what you are doing! My brother is in a wheelchair since having a brain-tumor, so I am familiar with wheelchairs. You are a true inspiration, there really needs to be more conversation around it! Much love to you, take care❣️
Yoooo. I used to see you in the gym all the time when I used to live in GA so I am a witness to you working hard and beating the odds. I’m glad you are still kicking ass. Keep Pushing Forward!!! side note: your video randomly popped in my recommendations and you I said to myself “that’s that one guy I used to see in the gym” I’m proud of you brother! SUBSCRIBED.

Thanks for doing this!! I just discovered your channel and I'm glad I did! I'm an occupational therapy assistant and it's great to hear your perspective on living with a SCI and encouraging discussions, along with educating people on incomplete SCI and wheelchairs. Thanks!
I am so thankful that I found your Chanel. The best friend of my dad just had a terrible accident, now he is paralyzed from his bellybutton down. In your videos I start to understand more of the problems he is now going through so I can kind of help him. My dad and my family are now trying to help him adapt with his new situation. Your videos show us how we can kind of help him and I am so thankful for that. Keep your great work up. 👍🏻
Hey, I have all functional limbs, but I always wonder about the diabled, and a enjoy a very risky sport, motorcross, and multiple friends of mine had terrible wrecks, paralysis, and broken femurs. Great channel.
Motorcycle, weather on the dirt or on the road are risky. I have a lot of friend who are in wheelchairs now because of motorcycles. Stay safe out there 👊🏻
I really love your humor!! Your videos are never boring.. Thank you, for being a teacher and very inspiring to us all that haven't been where you have!!
If you listened carefully, you would've heard him say he was asked that while checking out groceries, not holding up a sign saying "ask anything". Different situation. He's allowed to have boundaries too. Don't hate. ✌
Yes! I love these kind of videos, when strangers stare at me I always wonder why they don't just ask the thing that's bothering them!! If it's rude I can correct them, and if it's nice I educate.
Love this!!! And it's the perfect location. More than half of the folks who pass by are using some kind of wheeled thing... but the wheelchair wins in my kids' opinion. We get to stay on wheels even when we're inside LOL! And at 7:04 we are reminded of what most people think wheelchair users look like. I love showing off my fitted ultralight and changing stereotypes!
I dont believe you i would be pretty fucking mad if im trying to build a house or smth and i have to add a ramp it make it ugly i get it in social places but not a in my own house wtf
Squidward Painting it’s in public places. You don’t have to have a ramp in your own house. But there are literally no shops, libraries, shops, or pretty much anything public without wheelchair access.
I think your videos are awesome. Creating dialogue and allowing a space for folks to ask the questions they may not feel comfortable asking otherwise is so important!
This awesome! Thank you for being self aware and understanding that not everyone understands certain things. Such a cool idea. Glad to see people helping others understand their world.
This is awesome. I used to work at a drivethru and people sometimes don't have all of their fingers..so I'd ask what happened to their finger. My co-workers would be shocked I'd ask them. I was like "they know they're missing a finger. I didn't just drop some massive new information on them". They were all happy to answer too and their stories were interesting so I was always glad I asked.
Man thank you for being so open to make these videos. Really interesting glad people aren't jerks about it. I was expecting a bunch of more of those rude/joke questions movies and shows make the stereotypes.
i absolutely love this. good for you for going out and sharing the awarensss about it! i don’t think any one else would really have the nerve to do that. your amazing man. keep up the hard work . 💪❤️
I’m not very familiar with Atlanta, we try not to venture around to much. But I’m in Atlanta also, been in & out of the Shepherd Center for therapy. I was in a underground coal mining accident a little over a year ago. I really love your videos, you’re very informative.
Awesome video man was expecting this to have millions of views. You are a great content creator and I love how you are normalizing your disability and showing people you are just another guy living his life to the fullest not just “some sad guy in a chair”
Well man you got a great personality! the more I see your videos, you are very intelligent person, It just so cool to go out in this world and say ask me anything brilliant..
Thanks for making this video very eye opening into the community that I do not know much about I am happy you were able to show us and share this experience
As a wheelchair user, I'd like to know what your favorite wheelchair brand is! I currently have a Permobil electric wheelchair and it's been very helpful for me to save my energy as I move around.
Wow, the lady who came along, read your sign, and sat herself down in front of you, so that you could be more comfortable whilst talking... just such a considerate gesture
I experienced temporary paralysis due to an autoimmune condition, and I used to HATE it when people would grab my chair without asking. Don’t ever do that. Just don’t. Also when I would try to do something I probably shouldn’t and fall out of bed. At first I was still soo weak I had to lay there till someone found me. My own fault. Much respect to you.
Haha it's crazy how oppinions are so different! I have a wheelchair, and LOOOVE that air cushion!! It is the only cushion which reliefs some pain of hip luxations. And my wheelchair is the only chair which helps my to sit up straight for almost 1 hour! So comfy? Meh, but it is as comfy as it can get!
I loved pt 1&2 do you have a pt 3? Also, how can I make a sign like that??? I want to attach it to the basket of my wheelchair and ride around with it.
Omg he was in the middle of talking about the seriousness of his mental health and how he was contemplating suicide when he got cut off by an ill-timed ad break 😂
Back in the summer of 2018 i was in a car accident that left me with a fractured L-3, L-5, and coccyx. The fractures were not deep enough to require surgery or paralyse me but left me in a brace for the first 3 months of my junior year of high school. And to this day i still have aches and pains if i do anything for too long and the doctor said i will probably have pain for the rest of my life, the doctor also said it can stunt my growth up to 20% (im only 17 and 5'8") and so far in the past year since the injury i have not grown at all.
Hey just FYI on these videos where you have people asking you questions and the sound of the voices isn’t always super clear, youtube’s auto captioning is often missing a lot of what the people are asking you. If you have the energy to edit the subtitles on videos like this so they’re right, that’d be real cool for those of us whose disability affects hearing too (like connective tissue disorders, and things like CP)
We did! We noticed the questions were hard to hear so they are hard coded on the video :) You’re definitely right about the auto caption not being accurate. I’m a one man show over here and it can be challenging to find some extra hours to get them perfect. That being said I have opened up community contributions on all my videos which anyone edit the closed captions!
This happens at my school but im mute aswell so its like ask me anyrhing abour wheelchairs and I wont answer at all Keep up the good job on satisfying peoples questions
Hey bro your awesome man 💪 😎 I have no disability that I know of. But had been living with great deppression lately and don't do anything. Nothing at all in fact days I wished I wasn't alive . I came up seeing one of your videos recently and well I appreciate you much because it makes me see life differently and to take advantage of t and enjoy it . Your a inspiration as I also seen and continue days seeing dark days . Someday would like to meet you . Mindset is everything and positivity is the best way .
Check out my UNTOLD story on my website. I talk about my depression and how I was able to overcome it despite being in a wheelchair. Wheels2Walking.com/subscribe
You should go to big cities and do this like Nashville(which I live in Nashville) or Miami this is awesome what your doing man! I’m hooked fire content man thanks for sending good vibes
I’d love to hear more about the differences you notice between when people see you with the chair vs without. And if you’ve ever dealt with someone who saw you get up from your wheelchair and gave you a hard time. I don’t need my chair the vast majority of the time but use one to be able to attend walking/standing heavy events that I’d otherwise have to skip and am always concerned about bad reactions I’ve heard people having and how to deal with it in the moment. Also any other disability focused UA-cam channels you watch and recommend folks check out?
I’ve got a post about this on my Instagram. It’s the only picture where I’m standing. Let me try to link you instagram.com/p/BxLaZTkhwfM/?igshid=nwvt6grvi6y There are a few. Check my who I’m subscribed to that could be helpful!
Richard, thanks for all the informative videos. I am trying to watch them all. A question I have is: Did you receive a settlement after your accident? Because I know, and have experienced the high cost of custom equipment.
If you don't wear gloves how do you brake? I tighten my grip on the push rim to generate friction to slow down. Often the path is too narrow to weave from side-to-side. Even using gloves I can burn my hands during an intense. What do you do?

Scooters are actually huge
I was really surprised too, because I am from Munich and I thought they were popular here but that's a hole different Level ':D
A much-improved sign! You went all-in with the upgrade!
We took everyone’s suggestion from the last video!
Hope you’ve been ok Richard. Sending love your way
“Respect more. No fuck you!” Lmao at the graffiti on pillar. Jokes aside, I really enjoy these ask me anything videos, keep up the good work Richard ✊

Lmao for real I literally rewatched that entrance like 3 timee
Why?

You’re definitely right about the auto caption not being accurate. I’m a one man show over here and it can be challenging to find some extra hours to get them perfect.
That being said I have opened up community contributions on all my videos which anyone edit the closed captions!
That graffiti in the back tho 😂
RESPECT MORE

Hey bro your awesome man 💪 😎
I have no disability that I know of.

High speed wobble 😂. Had that happen on a bike, too. Scary
Doing noble man’s work
I’d love to hear more about the differences you notice between when people see you with the chair vs without.
Let me try to link you

There are a few. Check my who I’m subscribed to that could be helpful!
@@Wheels2Walking thanks!!!
It was at 3:56 I realized the street art says, “RESPECT MORE”
...and the street art below says, “‘No, f*ck you”
I lost it 😂
