You obviously are a newcomer to Smash. Marth actually used to be very low on the tiers, because there was no one but Mr. E and some other people representing him at a national level. Marth gets benefits from spacing, doesn't mean he is the easiest to play. In fact, it's pretty hard to play him against Top Tier characters like Ryu, Cloud, Mario ( A Good one ), and Shiek/Bayonetta/Diddy Kong. By your logic, the easiest characters are the one with straightforward strategies like Mario and Shiek. And trust me they aren't easy. Especially going against their counters. PS: He isn't fully reliant on Marth. Hell he changes his play style once he goes his main, Meta Knight.

We can't act like False was a dedicated Ryu main like Darkshad and Trela. That's like comparing K9 to Zinoto and ZeRo. False's Ryu is good but it isn't as good as Darkshad's, Locus's, or Trela's
ryu is incredibly broken. Whether or not he is top 5 is debatable, but he is most definitely top 15 (not saying top 10 because there are other characters in the game). In a game that teaches you that unless you make a very big mistake you won't die until around 80-100% minimum, ryu breaks all that with his utilt to shoryu and dtilt to shoryu combos that kill at 60&. Not to mention the nairs. If you put the time in to master him and you eventually play really well, it'll take a very good player to beat ryu.

Tweek shows an excellent job of how to do this with his fight with Locus using Bowser Jr at ZeRo Saga, and Jade does the same with Trela at CEO.

I myself don't have ryu, but I've played on a friend's ds with him (I'm a ds player). I find that combos is a big challenge for me on ds, and then the next obstacle past that is ryu. I tried to use him in training and just couldn't. I actually got hardcore bodied by a ryu on ds fg this morning, the guy was amazing. Plays both and beats you with Ryu in both? Makes sense. Overextending against Ryu in either game will lead to an infinite or at least a large combo that feels like an infinite.

ryu can cancel out but you can kinda get a feeling when he's going for the full focus. but ryu with momentum in the neutral is pretty intimidating for sure

Have you tried playing Ryu? he is probably the hardest player in the game to learn. Using Marth against Ryu is like picking paper every time you go against rock because of how easy it is to keep players away with Marth. To win with Ryu you must better substantially better than your opponent and take a lot of risks. One of the commentator wanted there to be a game 5 when Trela won game 3. Leo is a skilled player, Trela's just worked a lot harder.
Considering that MKLeo is playing a character whose best attributes were taken from him as opposed to Trela playing a heavyweight who can combo and hit as hard as Marth, I am not surprised if the commentators were mentioning just how the matchup favors Ryu.

Trela is extremely skilled for sure. But a true input Shoryu is really damn hard to do in a frame lol. Especially under pressure.
