      Indeed. Dantes was a nobody who couldnt read or write before he went to the prison.
      But inside the prison, he becomes a monster both in terms of fighting skills and more importantly intelligent.

      He gave Edmond hope, and undeniable proof that there were other people in the world who could treat him fairly. I do wonder what would have become of them, had they escaped together as planned. Would he have been willing to aid Edmond in his revenge, I wonder? Would Edmond have chosen to stay with his friend over seeking revenge?

    The book is definitely a classic, but this movie adaptation was great.

      Esp the ending, people love a happy ending and so do I rather then a bleak one by other adaptations and book.

      @@shady1306 Reminds me of the ending to Shawshank Redemption. Didn't take anything away from the story, just extrapolated what was already there.

      Have they not seen 'This sporting life' or Harris as Sulla?? A role is two dimensional as Dumbledore by conparison is a cake walk for such a titan of acting

    Jim cavezil is a legendary actor , absolute brilliance , Richard harris was also a legend , wishing u peace Richard out there in the universe , Jim cavezil is finished in Hollywood for bringing the truth out about the evil that hides behind power to do the worst to children on mass , sound of silence , Jim screw Hollywood as u have cemented yourself as a human being and Actor that will always be remembered 😁

      100% disagree. Him meeting Vampa and Jacopo and watching him go through all the mechanizations of his revenge is a huge part of the satisfying experience.

    I would have been wondering why he did that a bit sooner than Edmund did. The priest probably figured it out quickly

      he wanted edmond out of the way so he could be captain of the ship for the shipping company

      Danglars* was jealous of Edmond's position and relationship with Mr Morriele, and thought that as quartermaster he should have become ships captain, rather than Edmond after the original captain who died
