It is standard procedure to remove the content and associated account immediately and simultaneously notify the user like he mentions in his video as well.
It’s not shameful. He opened up his drive to random people and that’s his choice. He was hosting drawn CP on his own account. He deserves to be permad and will be reporting his second channel for ban evasion.
Even if someone uploaded something that actually breaks Google TOS, it would be fair for him to get an email with the username of whoever uploaded it, the filename, and a short description of what broke TOS. Removing it ASAP is normal, and should be. If real damage is being done, it should be limited in any way possible.
@@LaughingOrange lol no. If that is the case it was someone else, even tho it could have been him since he seems to fine with “kawaii” (pedo) art. He facilitated it being on his account by him or someone else and in effect associated his name on everything in that account by opening it up to all this people. He also used the same account as his actual channel to do it, so everything should be closed that that is used a login for. Probably the other account too when it gets reported for ban evasion.
This has actually happened before but not to a big UA-camr hence the shock. But to make things short, if Google thinks that there's CP on your account then it's nuking everything associated to it, even if it isn't CP. All of this happened to a father some time back in the covid days who sent sensitive images of his child to the doctor so that they could diagnose what's going on as they could not see the child in person. Now even though those were medical images, Google considered it CP and deleted everything that was associated with the email including his home internet, phone number and anything else. All of his stuff that was on the email and the drives was gone. And even though he made it clear to Google, they would not restore his account
That's such a dumb way to do it. Who tf has that clearance level to push that delete button? If the alleged person is a suspected criminal then you should've reported him to the relevant investigation bodies, not personally delete their online presence because you feel like it.
I see... I suppose you have to create an entirely different google acct when you start a YT acct separated from your private one just in case... Would that work though?~
this is what happen when UA-cam following the US standard about children thingies. in 4chan when you post an image about children and it's not even sexualized by any meter, they still think you're a p3do. -.-
This is every UA-camrs worst nightmare. The fact that UA-cam can get rip everything you've spent years build away from you through no fault of your own is terrifying
@@sanketc001 Such a weird take to have. You cannot be implying because he unwisely trusted viewers with his drive account he should lose ALL of the work he put in for over 4 years of his life. Those are not equal. Sure he is not 100% aware of how to keep himself safe, but that doesn't make this his fault.
Google's policies on this topic are ruthless, just check out an article like for example: A Dad Took Photos of His Naked Toddler for the Doctor. Google Flagged Him as a Criminal.
You gotta understand that being a youtuber isn't a thing in japan, and youtube can't be your main occupation in japan unless you're some privileged westerner like pewdeepie who basically bought his life in japan, or a privileged haafu like Joey who is lucky enough not to have a real job in a Japanese company because he's just living off donations from from the west. Being a youtuber is considered it be a joke in japan and you'd simply be laughed at and told to get a real job. That was just his side project and not the main source of income, so "everything ripped from you" is just an overexaggeration from the westerner standpoint who are used to sititting on their ass doing nothing while making money from views.
There was a case in Germany a while ago about a father whose little daughter had a rash on her private parts. Thanks to big C it wasn't possible to get an appointment with a dermatologist on short notice, but the dermatologist wanted to help and asked for a photograph of the rash to see if it was something serious that should be treated immediately in a hospital. The father made the photo and uploaded it to his Google drive. A short while later his Google account was terminated and he was actually reported to the German authorities by Google. After the police and prosecutor's office looked into it and got statements from the dermatologist it was determined that the father was indeed innocent. Google, when presented with this result by the father's lawyer, actually admitted that he did nothing wrong and that the picture wasn't CP, but they still refuse to reinstate his Google account. It's absolutely ridiculous what Google can get away with. (I know there's the argument that Google has the right to determine who they want to enter contracts with, but that right should be (and in many countries is) severely limited for companies that have a lot of power in the market.)
And not only that. Many students in various medical universities across the world nowadays has problems with saving their assignment drafts on Google Drive, since medical research often contains graphical images and Google is not allowing any kind of content that contains graphical content anymore, EVEN IF IT'S IN PRIVATE MODE AND ONLY YOU CAN VIEW IT.
While I don't think he should have been charged with anything, the picture never should have been taken, and the doctor never should have suggested the idea. Or whoever suggested the idea shouldn't have. A dermatologist is never an emergency, period. If you are having an emergency, you go to the emergency room and let doctors handle it in the appropriate way. It isn't a crime to do what he did, but it is objectively wrong. Just like people who take naked pictures of their baby. Illegal? No. Wrong? Objectively.
@@weebgraphy IKR, good thing that Naoki-sensei had all videos (or most of them hopefully) backed-up, but it doesn't diminish how horrible it must have felt
@@recklessotaku i am just so impressed how calm Naoki Sensei actually is, he had handled the situation comparatively really well than most of the other youtubers might have done. But this doesn't mean that it wasn't devastating for him. He really looked so sad inside that i can't believe how terrifying it must have been...
I've watched Saito-sensei for a long time now. He is an AMAZING artist, and you'll never find a more earnest, warm or authentic UA-camr. The respect he has for his viewers is insane - he'll take viewer submissions that look so awful, and find the best praise to give them that A) you couldn't see, B) is authentic, and C) is constructive and helps them become better artists. Like it's actually mind blowing. He is literally the _ideal_ UA-camr, I've always admired his example and his skill, and just to see UA-cam shunt him off like he's nothing is such a damning statement on UA-cam. @@幽霊船-o4h his approach to the method and some techniques were very unique for me. Artists already have it hard enough with all the AI stuff. They don't need added stress from a janky system taking them down for no reason. I hope he gets his channel back.
He's one of the YT Japanese Illustrator who put other language subtitles, and really thankful for the effort. So many great advices for many levels of illustrator, as his favorite one is trying to pivot from scary monster illust (from Duel Masters) to a kawaii style. For Joey's question about coloring skin first, it's easier to color skin first because of the property of Layers, it's easier to paint from underneath the layer, gradualy to the top (clothes, acc). Yeah, the fact that he put any subtitles at all was what made me check his videos in the first place. I clicked for interesting thumbnail, stayed for very fun tutorials and sweet uncle-like personality.
Holy crap... Naoki sensei was such a really nice guy, he really was the 'sensei' of the art community. He bridged the jp and eng art barrier with his multi-language videos.. To think all that effort just disappeared. UA-cam fudged up, I hope this gets resolved soon Naoki sensei does not deserve this
This is honestly painfully sad. His channel is freaking goated. I really hope it gets resolved because he's done a lot for me and my journey in the art world.
As Joey said, youtube is a western company which it makes sense because nowadays westerners company thought they are moral superior of all humanity. This is why many people who are not from the west are furious about those behavior.
I can’t believe Naoki Sensei got terminated… he was an amazing illustrator, content creator and teacher. I watched him a lot of things from him which helped me improve my art too. It must hurt for him to basically restart all he had… I hope he can get back to that point he built before and go beyond…
Naoki Saito-Sensei has a lot of videos teaching and correcting artists, Sensei are genuinely a very nice guy and a very amazing educator, Me and my friends are a huge fan of his and seeing that his account got terminated and knowing what happened to it are really sad, Thank you very much Joey for bringing this to attention! i feel the same, i liked the videos where he improved people's art the most, so interesting and helpful and his videos had subtitles in english too. i'm still gonna hope he will get his channel back
You know how professional he is when he does videos on character designing from a game character. He only uses their general voices or general description to draw them out. The fact that the accuracy of his drawing and look very closely to the original characters shows how good his skills are.
Unexpected news. Very positive person, always cheers up (even if I don't understand half of his words). Obviously not one of those who will publish something wrong. I hope he gets his million subscribers back quickly on a new channel
Holy, I was so relieved when you said that he'd backed up all his videos. His videos were such a valuable treasure trove of art knowledge. When I was doing my drawing and animation courses, which wasn't even that long ago, his videos helped me so much. To see all that valuable knowledge just disappear like that is just heart wrenching.
True though, same like yours, the fact of losing his videos is basically losing a library of knowledge full of advices from a professional artist. And he doesn’t shy away to admit to his mistakes whenever he’s doing character designing challenge from a game character. He’s such a humble sensei imo.

As an artist, the amount of effort this man did to be extra careful is nuts. Especially since he colored the skin tone last, which is something I never do

Bro... Naoki Saito is literally my favorite artist from the Pokemon TCG, and I love watching his videos to gain some insight into his process and to learn from a master of the craft to improve myself. Seeing his channel just fucking gone like that is tragic. This man had such an amazing backlog of content. He's done tutorials, fixing art mistakes people make, drawing characters from a description, and hell, he's even done some really cute and wholesome drawing collabs with his daughter, who might I add is also very talented like her father. I've watched him for a long time and never saw him draw anything that would be considered lewd or adult in any way. This pretty much HAS to be someone else doing something with the open Drive. It's REALLY fucking tragic to see his content all go. This man is a fucking legend for making his videos and it's so depressing that now those videos are just gone. I've looked up to him and admired his art style for a while now, and I've been trying to learn how to draw and color like him, but now I can't. Google really has some fucked up policies in place if shit can domino THAT hard over one small accidental fuck up. I hadn't seen a video from him in a bit and didn't really think anything of it. So happy to hear the news so I can go support him on his new channel. It's a fucking shame that this is how it has to happen though, but hopefully things start looking up for him.
Every UA-camr needs to be extremely defensive with their accounts. Keep backups. Keep separate accounts for different functions, especially if you want to allow user generated content. Griefers are definitely out there to get someone else's accounts terminated.
Man I watched so many of his videos, he had such a fun and wholesome personality and I actually learned a lot from him. And yes, as an aspiring artist myself, coloring in clothes first before skin can be rather tricky, at least to me, so the fact he went to those lenghts just to please the algorithm tells me how careful he really was. This sucks when I saw the thumbnail to this video I couldn't believe it.
His channel was a treasure to all artists, beginner and expert. He is also such a ray of sunshine, so that's TERRIBLE that befell him. Is there anything we can do to help him? That's just so unjust.
NO WONDER I COULDNT FIND ANY OF HIS VIDEOS!!! That's such a painful thing to happen to any UA-camr, I hope he can recover from such a loss. Also eff to whoever decided to delete his channel 😡
What an absolute shame, he deserves his channel back. I think I've seen a few of his video's before and he was an absolute delight to watch. UA-cam, give him his channel back!
It's so devastating that your entire life can just be gone like that, in a freaking night too, he didn't deserve any of this. He is an amazing art teacher :(
I guess the only way to avoid the hypothesized reason from happening again, is to make sure the google drive email he gives his followers access to is not the same one that is connected to his second UA-cam channel. So terrible this happened to him at all though ☹️ I hope he bounces back!
Or better yet, not using Google Drive at all. I know that he wants to see his followers' art, but there's no guarantee that his followers won't post rule-breaking artwork, or Google/Alphabet getting a rule out of their disgusting corpo asses in the name of "Justice", that could encompass a lot of safe artwork. It is really sad the situation, and Alphabet a scummy corpo. I only hope it doesn't happen again.

The skin tone thing is totally true. I was sending a screenshot of a 3D asset for a game to another artist over discord and they blocked me from sending it over, because there was too much skin tone color in it. It was a bear latte 3D model.

His channel helped me so much in improving my art, so it's honestly disgusting what Google and UA-cam did to this man. To all artists and visual art lovers, let's continue to support him and his amazing work.
As an amateur artist I really loved his videos because they helped me so much so I was so shocked to see the news..I hope he can get back on his feet and recover from this tragedy😔
Thank you for talking about this. We in the art community were confused as to why this happened to someone as wholesome as Mr. Saito. He did nothing but help artists and teach them with kindness.
As an amateur artist and a fan of his since then I was pretty devastated when I heard about his situation. Ive always love his UA-cam Art Correction videos because he teaches the viewers on not only how to improve one thing but also shows some techniques that I had never seen before. He was such an inspiration to my art journey, he's always positive and amazing.
Naoki’s channel was the gateway to teaching me anime illustrations, honestly such a wholesome guy its heartbreaking to see bad things happen to an innocent person like this You mentioned how he changes the drawing order to safely protect his channel, typically when artists construct a character you usually draw the body to get the correct proportions and volume, before adding details such as clothes, hair etc etc. But because of what you mentioned with him flipping the order of coloring, I wouldn’t be surprised if he also basically he had to skip constructing the body before the clothes in his videos to avoid triggering UA-cam’s algorithm
Saito-sensei is a big inspiration for me and even gave some really good tips on improving your art work. Especially for me when I was struggling with line work, his tips on what not to do when you do line work and the alternatives he offered were so helpful! I feel so bad for him 😢
I was a long time subscriber of his channel and would consult his videos to improve my art. It's really depressing the way youtube continues to treat their creators. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of his EN audience, Joey.
Saito sensei is genuinely a wholesome guy who I learned a lot from, it's such a shame this has happened to him. Thank you for letting us know I have subbed to his new channel.
Honestly it heartbreaking to hear him lose his channel, and only now hear about it. I love sensei saitos work. He's been an incredibly huge inspiration to myself, and having now been watching him for close to a year, he's been such a huge reason for my direction to retake illustration into my career outside of just pursuing graphic design. And with all that said, for as bizzare of a situation, thank you Joey for covering this story. Re-subbed to his new acc, and hopefully he can rebuild from this point forward.
I am sobbing, I followed his tutorial videos that helped me so much.. He was such a huge inspiration for me and it broke my heart seeing all his hard work being washed away like this. I really hope he recovers his channel and that the one who did this to him gets karma HARD!
He is one of the best art teaching channel out there with full EN translation too, really sad this happen. Atleast now he back with his content again without too down about it

And here I was thinking maybe I should rewatch Naoki again, I could really use his advice, again. Come on. Well, thank you for covering this, Joe man. I needed the context.
It was so painful to see his UA-cam channel just vanish in a matter of second he was a massive part in my art journey also he's the most wholesome teacher ever I hope this problem could be solved as soon as possible 😔
This is actually tragic, I bought a book of his that helps with drawing!! He’s so helpful and kind, I’m actually so shocked this happened. He’s a wonderful person, and has provided so many helpful art recourses, and for free!
man I came here ready to be mad at another UA-cam f*** up, and I left even angrier that it happened because someone sabotaged him AND he gets no second chances. Sensei's an inspiration, I remember his cards from WAY back when I first got into Duel Masters.
I remember finding his channel through a video where he drew genshin characters based on some text hints, without having seen them before. Even as a non-artist, his process and insights were very inspirational, I can't even imagine how precious all the material he put out literally for free access on youtube was for actual artists... And now it's potentially gone. Hope this gets sorted out and his channel reinstated.
UA-cam needs to rectify this quickly. Saito-san can sue for defamation, which is protected law in Japan. Considering his popularity and work portfolio, this would likely be a widely publicized case and could end things badly for Google/UA-cam in regards to their influence in Japan.
It would be better to collect many content creators the victims and do class action lawsuit against google HQ than sue individually against local branch
But they are not defaming him - they did not claim he did anything to destroy his character or person. They notify him in private for something he did that broke the ToS. I don't agree, but you are not understanding what defamation means.
Man, I love Saito Naoki. A video of his was recommended to me and I've been following ever since. There's something about the way he teaches and the way he's honest about his past mistakes that drew me in, and most of his videos have English subs, so there was barely any language barrier. It's incredibly saddening that he's experiencing this.
This is happening across you tube. People are making false copy right strikes repeatedly, accusing people of false bs, and anything they can do to get channels taken down.
I hope he can get his account recovered and work with UA-cam to confirm that all his artwork is safe. His entire channel was a great resource for up and coming artists and he put his heart into all his videos, and I'm sure the stress right now is tremendous, particularly because of how unforgiving UA-cam's review policy seems to be.
Holy shit what the actual fk. Thank you for this, i watched him all the time, good to know we can find him on his second channel, you really brought some justice through this Joey.
Thank you for covering this Joey. I have recently followed him for art tips and it’s such a shame this has to happen to such a great and genuine creator. I really hope he can get his UA-cam account back, even if it’s the smallest chances. I’ll go and follow his secondary channel in the meantime, and in case he doesn’t get the main back, hopefully he can grow his secondary.
Not drawing the skin tone first is actually really different. As an artist one of the first things you color is the skin tone. Edit: Ik we don't all do the skin first it's just more common to see the skin done first then to see it last from what I've seen.
Not only that, he often had to do all the construction in a minimal or imaginary way because he was afraid the algorithm would pick up the boxes or body shapes as nudity.
@@panfarmld9664 It's mostly because in traditional art, artists prefer alcohol markers to paint fully colored manga, you always start with the lighter colors to avoid dark pigments from smudging your light areas; This just carried over as a habit when artists moved to digital art. Nowadays people work digitally and in layers so there's not much of a need to paint the skin first and it's more of a thing of monkey see monkey do from people who are new to art, but there's still few people whose art workflow might justify doing so. I like painting the skin first because it helps me "set" the values, I paint the skin the way I want it to look in the final picture, then build all the values around it.
Hmm maybe it's a bit different approach from the normal convention digital painting i guess but i would certainly believe that this practice (of coloring skin tone later) is fairly common. Like there are no rules that you have to do the skin tone first but maybe people do that stuff as the first thing to make it feel like the character has some life and doesn't look completely dull being completely white while the rest are colored. Just my view
Duuude wtf :c I really love his "how to elevate/improve an illustration" series. I don't even draw that much but I really respect his way of thinking in designing a character and how to convey personality and story through poses/facial features/colors etc etc. And his blind Genshin character illustration was soooo good. I hope everything can get sorted for Naoki-sensei.
I am finding this out right now, and really sad that this happen to him! I hope that everything has worked out for him still and will follow his second channel. I just find it very unfair especially the type of content he gave us were gems on this platform and to be treated like this is just terrible.
I actually learned many tips from his channel, and they weren't the really generic tips but things I've never thought about. He was such a quality creator and made my learning experience much easier by not being overly vindictive or condescending, but making it welcoming (not that fake wholesome shit either). Things like monochromatic colouring, which I did in the past but never really understood, was elaborated on far more clearly and helped in deciding my color palettes. I never got this from anywhere else but him, and looking at actual examples that I could relate to assisted in the learning experience. I gotta say that he puts so much into his vids, and especially if he also captions his own vids.
Oh my god I was wondering why he hasn't posted recently I didn't know his channel disappeared. I am a hobby artist and he was such a great teacher. My heart goes out to him 😢

As an artist, yeah. It's pretty common to color and/or render the skin first, unless it is not a major part of a drawing. It of course depends on the artist, but generally, yeah.

What youtube/google does to content creators is borderline criminal. I wish there were more alternatives that could challenge them. The alternatives we have aren't strong enough yet to compete.
I never known our Google Drive is monitored like that, and could lead to domino effect like this. Makes me wonder just how much privacy we got even for services like file storage keeping.
As someone who has watched his videos. This is so depressing, I hope to god he doesn’t stop doing what he does because of this. UA-cam should give him a chance to prove innocence here. I will say though, just because he is reputable and loved does not mean he couldn’t do something shady with his Google drive.
I hope at least this situation makes people aware that he exists as a great resource for artists (no1 on the platform in my opinion). Also, it is very different to not colour the skin first. It’s not horribly difficult but it is disorienting and I don’t know any digital artists who don’t draw the skin first. I hope saitou sensei is able to recover okay from this. Everyone loves him and his videos ♥︎

@@MollyHJohns they do report you to the police, but I think they delete everything to remove liabilities from their end

this is what happen when UA-cam following the US standard about children thingies.
in 4chan when you post an image about children and it's not even sexualized by any meter, they still think you're a p3do. -.-

@@sanketc001 his content is not explicit tho.....🤔
Many students in various medical universities across the world nowadays has problems with saving their assignment drafts on Google Drive, since medical research often contains graphical images and Google is not allowing any kind of content that contains graphical content anymore, EVEN IF IT'S IN PRIVATE MODE AND ONLY YOU CAN VIEW IT.
that screams "I'm the law"
While I don't think he should have been charged with anything, the picture never should have been taken, and the doctor never should have suggested the idea. Or whoever suggested the idea shouldn't have. A dermatologist is never an emergency, period. If you are having an emergency, you go to the emergency room and let doctors handle it in the appropriate way. It isn't a crime to do what he did, but it is objectively wrong. Just like people who take naked pictures of their baby. Illegal? No. Wrong? Objectively.
His channel was such an inspiration. I really hope he recovers from that episode. Thanks for highlights though, Joey

We need an alternative platform.
you put it so well, I admire Naoki Sensei a lot and have been following him for a while. The most respecful person giving back poignant criticism I've ever seen. I'm heartbroken...

Artists already have it hard enough with all the AI stuff. They don't need added stress from a janky system taking them down for no reason. I hope he gets his channel back.

In his workflow and style particularly
He sounds amazing really hope he gets everything back 😢
Yeah, the fact that he put any subtitles at all was what made me check his videos in the first place.
This is honestly painfully sad. His channel is freaking goated. I really hope it gets resolved because he's done a lot for me and my journey in the art world.

I can’t believe Naoki Sensei got terminated… he was an amazing illustrator, content creator and teacher. I watched him a lot of things from him which helped me improve my art too. It must hurt for him to basically restart all he had… I hope he can get back to that point he built before and go beyond…
Google and youtube depend on no one being able to do anything effective about it, so they will get away with terminating Naoki-sensei.
Let's support and bring back Sensei's channel to go where he was and maybe even further!
i feel the same, i liked the videos where he improved people's art the most, so interesting and helpful and his videos had subtitles in english too. i'm still gonna hope he will get his channel back
You know how professional he is when he does videos on character designing from a game character.

You mentioned how he changes the drawing order to safely protect his channel, typically when artists construct a character you usually draw the body to get the correct proportions and volume, before adding details such as clothes, hair etc etc. But because of what you mentioned with him flipping the order of coloring, I wouldn’t be surprised if he also basically he had to skip constructing the body before the clothes in his videos to avoid triggering UA-cam’s algorithm

He must!
But they are not defaming him - they did not claim he did anything to destroy his character or person. They notify him in private for something he did that broke the ToS. I don't agree, but you are not understanding what defamation means.
I loved his channel! I’m glad that you’re using your platform to also help him out ❤ He really didn’t deserve this
Man, I love Saito Naoki.

Really? I normally colour the skin last haha
Really? Whenever I colour my work, I colour in the skin last so it doesn't accidentally clip or bleed into the clothes or hair.
NOOO NAOKI-SENSEI!!! I love his art correction videos, they're the best!!!

As an artist, yeah. It's pretty common to color and/or render the skin first, unless it is not a major part of a drawing. It of course depends on the artist, but generally, yeah.

I follow Naoki-sensei's drawalong videos and love his artstyle I strive to become someone like him some day, This breaks my heart that this happened.
It is definitely possible , one of my friend instagram account got banned for broken some policy( not for CP fyi) His instagram was linked to facebook which is got banned too so defintely create a chain which everything linked to accounts in same service(like google, facebook) will affect.
Same thing happened to muse Asia but they are back now
Gave his second channel a follow. Hoping more people do this to support him, hopefully give him a head start. Feel really bad about what happened. Hoping that he can work with UA-cam to undo the ban. It's not like he is specially a kids channel, nor can I even fathom him drawing something deserving of a strike...
