  • I know some are looking for taller raised beds to eliminate bending and I contacted Vevor about the tallest I could find after seeing their new selection available this spring. They sent me one for this video. It is a beast to assemble but is almost 8' x 4' x 2' tall.

I bought 11 of that large bed, fabulous. Hugelkultur for drought conditions. Took me 4 hrs to make 1 bed🤣🤣 will now be paying able bodied young people to assemble for me. I think they are worth the money. Will see in 3-4 years. Thanks for the video🇨🇦👍

During dry conditions raised beds sure take a lot of watering I find. You should invite all your friends to a bed assembly party. The material of these is quit thin and not sure of the lifetime. Thanks for watching.

"Next 3hrs of my life is gonna be spent screwing this thing together".🤣 Great video as always! I'd put the whole thing on a base to avoid bending over, I did this with my strawberry beds and it made life very pleasant in regards to weeding and harvesting:)

It's definitely a big one. I am very impatient with repetitive tasks and did not enjoy 3 hours of screwing it together. I myself like the short ones better that assemble with 30 screws and a good kneeling pad. Thanks for watching.

I was thinking about having some raised garden beds because my knees and back are shot and I was looking at the Vego brand and I couldn’t believe how expensive they were for just stamped sheet metal that was coated and looked very flimsy. I was at Tractor supply and saw that they had livestock water troughs made out galvanized steel and they were the exact hight, width, and length that I was looking for and a lot cheaper than the Vego raised garden beds with no assembly required and all I have to do is drill some holes in the bottom for drainage. I am going to buy two of them this year to try them out and if they work out I’ll buy some more next year. Take care.

I think you made the right choice. Those water troughs are made strong to take abuse and freezing forces. They will definitely outlast something like this. You may want to drill big holes to allow the worms to go deep in the ground during winter. Swapping to raised beds is the best decision I have ever made. Thanks for watching.

Have two of them in action here from the days we kept large animals. They sit on blocks and already have a drain. Both are galvanized metal filled with moisture control potting mix, compost, and dirt. Used for the herbs grown for the kitchen. Haven’t used the old Rubbermaid tanks yet. Never thought about keeping worms in them, they are the only place I don’t have to deal with burrowing animals.

Please do a video about how to construct the metal canopy type structure seen in the background of this video. Perhaps it is a greenhouse, or livestock structure. Seen best at 8:15 timestamp. Thanks bunches! You're like watching Red Green. 😊

It is from one of the tent shelters that could not stand the winds in our area. The cover was destroyed in a short time and I just stack firewood on the gravel base under it. Thanks for watching.

OH, that would be TEDIOUS! Even for YOU -- with your splendid tools and incredible mechanical skills. I can imagine how frustrating that would be for the average Harry Homeowner. It would take me three DAYS, not hours, to try an assemble. I have an 8 x 4 ft x 3 ft. tall wooden bed that has sadly finally rotted away. I grew the most insect-free, perfect carrots in it. Any raised bed taller than 24 inches has a perfect chance of avoiding damage caused by the nasty carrot sawfly. Those buggers fly close to the ground and will actually ignore the carrots growing up higher. All my raised beds are on the way to total decay. Your compost is a thing of beauty. All the chemical fertilizers in the world can't compare. Nothing has the flavor and nutrition like freshly-picked produce grown in compost. Back to gloomy wet rainy weather. Is it great to get outdoors when we can. Got my peas and spinach in but still so much to plant. Ouch. The first couple of weeks are my Advil days after being cooped up indoors all winter. At the end of the day, nothing can compare to the satisfying, bone-weary, absolute exhaustion caused by hard outdoor yard and garden work in the sun.

It's a great size bed but just doesn't look like it will stand up over time. Would be nice if they made one from thicker steel. Those little 12 inch tall beds from Northern tool have done good and the aluminum ones I made from 40 year old extrusions will still outlast me. I have tried to get several manufacturers to make extruded ones but seems like they don't want to make items that will last over 60 years. Definitely feels good to be outside but as you say it hurts the first couple weeks. Rainy today and looks like a cold rainy couple days coming. My yard is mud and grass is a foot tall so I need a good dry week to be able to start that. Always a bunch of weather dependent chores to juggle in the spring. Remember a short afternoon nap is worthwhile. Good thing we like the look of dandelions🌻. Thanks for watching.

I was looking at them. I'm glad I decided not to. I was thinking metal roof panel cut in half length ways and 2x4's would be better.

It's a great size but very thin material relying on hundreds of screws for strength. Better and more crossbraces could be added to strengthen it. If you go with roofing panels be sure to go with the heavier gauge ones from a roofing supplier and not the thin panels Lowes and home depot sell. Thanks for watching

With out of control Bidenflation I dont mention prices anymore because they are constantly going up. The links have the best current pricing that may be lower then the website pricing plus a discount code to save a little more. Thanks for watching.

Time will tell. They are very thin material compared to my short ones. Tall enough so you don't have to bend over but need a truckload of dirt to fill. Thanks for watching.

Hi 👋 URHC, I hope you have not got a screw loose 😂, it looks very very flimsy , might’ve been worth sitting in the ground a bit, but then it will be defeating the object, as for having a higher bed 🛌 😂, one of these days you’re going to get caught having a little nap, 😴,
What is the plastic film on the inside of the panel? , If it was it might help for it to stop from rusting so quickly.,
My flooring joints for my garage/workshop, are nearly ready to to screw together, I have two more joist to cut, as they are going to act as bit of a shuttering for concrete in I need to do as I come out of my basement into my garage/workshop, little bit of a ramp/slope, Then going to install some 60 mil insulation between the Joist, then 6squ mt 24 mil waterproof flooring, hopefully by the end of next week I’ll have it all closed in, and hopefully watertight, or else I’ve been wasting my time,
Keep up the great work , It might be worth making a wooden framework to go around the top of the metal structure, to stiffen it up a bit,
Look forward to next review/project , from France

It wasn't as strong as I expected. Took way too long to assemble and I have doubts about the longevity with all those screws to rust out. A wood frame would definitely help. Sounds like you are making massive progress on the floor. Will you be using several thicknesses plywood or lumber to deck it for the machinery loads. Not sure whats available on your side of the pond. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 when you were unpacking it , it looked to be a lot of work and not much support, I think I mentioned about a jig I’ve got, Arunda , white Joyce are 75 mil by 200 mil is 4 m in length, but the area is 6 m so I’ve had to put adjoining beam going across, I’ve got support underneath approximate 1.3 m apart under each beam, And 43 centimetres between centres, So that’s going to be quite a bit of support, and I’m using 22 mil moisture resistant OSB or chipboard, I can’t afford plywood. It’s too expensive., it ranges from €2500 to €5500 And that depends on the type of finish and thickness,
I am going to bring in to the area one of my wood lathes Luckily, that only weighs about 600 kg, and where I’m putting that I’m putting actor support underneath, my Wadkin lathe RS8 is staying in my basement, and SCM jointer and thickness, I do have a very large bandsaw/resaw which will have to go in the garage/workshop, it will never be used as a garage as such only for a HD Deuce, even that will probably go into the attic, as I am making plans for an elevator, four floors, that is going to be a project in an half,
On a lighter side , I do not know which will end first the work my money or my life, I believe I have enough work on the property to last me two or three lifetimes, For money that soon disappear, though I’m trying to do it so when my pension comes in, that is what I’m spending, and for my life I’ve already had one heart attack, back in 2022, so your guess is a good as mine, The main thing is at the moment I’m happy working doing what I love to do, and nobody around to tell me that I cannot listen to music, or I need to go out and learn extra money because we need to do some more renovation work, my ex is now non-existent, she’s finally out of the equation, I think this will give you something to think about ha ha ha ha, 😂
I hope you’re both keeping safe and well, don’t let the boss catch you sitting around having a sleep, 😴
      Regards from France
