As a Thai person, it is very interesting how I rarely encounter questionable scammy stuff in thailand (bc I’m with my Thai family). But the moment I went back with my girlfriend (who is white) we constantly encountered scammer and people trying to sell stuff to us. I guess the moment you look like a tourist, all the scammer come out of the woodwork to target you…. Edit: 5:00 I would say Thai immigration (as someone who enter and exit the country regularly) has become more lenient due to Covid 19. Gov is trying hard to get in tourist so they not as strict as pre Covid (still US immigration is extremely strict in comparison). Also, young western tourists are not deemed problematic for the most part. Thailand has the highest traffic accident/fatality per capita in entirety of Asia...its really bad. Oh Tuk tuks are very much tourist only thing now (ironic given how tuk tuks were economical taxi just over a decade ago) .

The whole trial aspect of Garnt's Thai wedding where he had to prove his worth to the bride's household is very similar to how traditional Chinese weddings work as well here in Malaysia. The groom and his entourage (best men and friends basically) show up to the house of the bride and they are subject to punishment games by the bridesmaids that they have to complete in order to be let into the house so that the groom can fetch his bride. A lot of the games are usually pretty silly and are basically for the groom's and bride's friends to have fun and be happy for their friend's best day, including stuff like push ups on squeaky toys, using lipstick as ugly makeup, screaming out a very cringey vow and using plastic wrap to make the ugliest face possible. This is followed by the traditional tea giving ceremony to the parents and elders which you may be familiar with if you know Chinese culture.
Yea we call it gatecrashing here in Singapore. However having been to a Thai wedding myself before, gatecrashing games in Thailand are usually a lot more wholesome instead of being designed to embarass or dick over the groom.

Southeast Asia is definitely an interesting experience. 32:42 I think this might be the same feeling when you're in a concert and the band or artist requested everyone to sing with them without playing any instruments. Or like when idol fans are chanting their chants. In my opinion, it's a sense of belonging/belongingness. You don't know most of the people around you, but you all know this one song/chant, and you're singing/chanting it together. You feel this feeling of acceptance... being part of a group without any judgment or something like that.

The wedding escort mission ("gatecrashing") is also in Chinese weddings. The games/challenges can be extreme, and it's not uncommon for the groom and his best men to be completely enraged by the sometimes unreasonable requests by the bridesmaids taking it too far.
No one in Thailand actually get a Taxi anymore unless there’s no other choice bc even we natives get scammed😂 The majority of Thai people in the city uses the app Grab for taxi, motorcycle, food delivery, mail delivery, etc. so we know exactly how much we have to pay and it’s convenient. People here (especially in Bangkok) don’t really use anything non-digital anymore, so if you do, they’ll know you’re not familiar with the country at all. We pay with our phones. Coming to Thailand (or any other countries really), you really need to research what the locals use bc people will try to profit off you if you even remotely look or feel foreign. I’m 100% Thai, but people around the temples once tried to scam me bc I was with a white friend😬
As a Khmer-raised Filipino, it's nice & nostalgic to see the bois celebrating Thai culture which is heavily like & basically also Khmer culture. Specially the part with Garnt loving the traditional Thai baggy pants or "kraban" (Thai)/"kbin" (Khmer) & the wedding ceremony & the tourist experience with the Tuk-Tuks XD. Hope they try tricycles & jeepneys soon in the Philippines

1:47:00 Well The Northman is a retelling of the legend of Amleth that was the basis for Shakespeare's Hamlet (notice the anagram?). Great freaking film though.
The Northman was my favorite film last year maybe ever. It was a beautiful high concept insane genre picture; that had the dubious honor of being released around Everything, Everywhere, All at once.
THE PACIFIC RIM CROSSOVER WAS THE FIRST TO OPEN THE UNIVERSE. The after-credits scenes showed the organization researching and fighting against the kaiju. I look forward to the big crossover if they are able to make it as well.
Wow. As an Indian I was surprised to see that monks in Thailand chant Sanskrit! I kind of understand a bit since it's similar to Hindi and I studied it at school. But I didn't know other Asian cultures spoke it.
@Jack the Turtle please don't use it even in prayers. it's a language that was imposed upon indians and later the south indian kings who invaded south east asian were dumb enought to spread that language in thailand, indonesia, etc.
@@PerfectSense77 Yes but not really just ‘a bit’. Thai people mostly believes in Buddhism which originates from India. A lot of people also worships Hindu gods as you can see how Joey bought Ganesha memento. Traditional arts and performances are based on those beliefs and Ramayana. Thai official names mostly derived from Pali/Sanskrit words, even the word ‘Garnt’ is. But then again most Asian countries got their root of cultures from India even China likely does too.
for the straw in a can around 59:00 above of the vid, it's cuz the cans are considered dirty and you'd be advised to use a straw, at least that's what most of my south east asian families do (im assuming since they served in large amounts, they didn't wash it beforehand for that reason)

1:59:30 I’m going to guess that Connor was watching caddy and his most recent Spyro retrospective. A several hour flight is the perfect time to be watching his long retrospectives if that’s the case.
It is interesting how close the traditional Thai wedding and the traditional Bulgarian wedding are! The whole thing with going to the brides' house, passing through gates with "trials" to see if you are worthy and the bribing at the end are the same!
About drinking beer with a straw, I think it has something to do with the probabilities of the beer cans being dirty especially if you bought it from the local market or shops, cause sometimes stores have rats in them and some cans have black stains on top of it. That's why my mom prefers drinking canned drinks through straw, at least here in Indonesia.
I agree, I feel like in my part of Europe we can choose to get a straw and I feel it's wasteful but at the same time you don't know where that can was lying for how long and what animals might or might not pee on it.
OMG, Garnt's story about the water "sprinkling" is giving me flashbacks! I visited a temple in Phuket back in 2020, and I decided to receive a blessing from one of the monks there. Let me tell you --I WAS NOT READY for the water. I'm not quite sure what my face looked like, but the old monk was definitely amused by what he saw. Will definitely bend my head more next time.
Garnt thai’s wedding ceremony sounds very similar with Malay’s wedding including the dancers escorts, the negotiations with the bride’s family, the holdings of trays with gifts. Hmmm i learned a lot from this.
I moved to Thailand from the US when I was relatively young and then moved back when I graduated high school. I've gone back recently and it's a little sad to see how many places and people got affected by the loss of tourism from COVID, but I was also reminded of just how much I missed the jai yen yen of Thai life compared to America. Plus, not all change is negative; when drivers stopped for me when I crossed the road, I thought I was in the wrong country. Never would've happened in the Thailand of my youth🤣
@@samuraijosh1595 Hey now, more recently it was Chinese and Japanese tourists looking for wives, and with those countries under lockdown, now it's Indian tourists looking for wives. In all seriousness, though, something like 18% of the country's GDP pre-pandemic was tourism revenue, and the country would very much like to get that back.
I would say that King Kong is a proto kaiju when talking about the versions that come from the original King Kong stories. Has aspects of a traditional kaiju but not quite there. Kong becomes a full-blown kaiju typically when he's upsized to better fit a more monster role vs being a tragic figure in the story.
The boys talking about Thai experiences reminded me so much of my cousin's weddings here in India. Complete with all the rituals including the procession and bribery part. Garnt has got the drip going on in this episode! 😎😆
He's always got the best drip no cap. Joey's a close second. Connor's 2 total shirts is the essence of anti-drip
Is drip now clothes that cut off your circulation
@@Rahnonymous i think joey has the best drip personally. Garnt is tall and slender so he can afford to look good in even normal clothes
Guy's trying to look like Chris.
Southeast Asia is definitely an interesting experience. I’m Cambodian American and went to visit Cambodia recently and had culture shock lol Saw a man grilling bananas while driving his motorcycle at the same time and so many people wearing slides while riding/sitting on motorcycles 😂 Better to get a personal driver if you’re staying for a longer time and worried about safety or getting ripped off. But keep/make your receipts regardless. Thai culture and wedding sounds so chill! Can confirm, SEAsian aunties and moms are annoying as heck with all the photos/videos they take…so bad that my fiancé was pissed by day 2 of a 2 week trip😂
Garnt is looking immaculate this episode
indeed, where is ur pfp from?
@@Chem112Tokyo ghoul: re
It's that wedding glow
as an indian, i feel proud on garnt talking about the tradition... thanks garnt 🙏🏻❤
So many of these stories are similar Indian culture and weddings, it brought back some great memories, really fun episode!
because thai follows buddhism garnt said that the monks use sanskrit (ancient indian language)
Thailand and India are neighbouring countries. Some similarities in culture are to be expected. It's like how a lot of Europeans have similar cultures while still having differences among them.
@@yoman7873 not really. the southern kings of india invaded thailand and south east aisa at a point. that's how all of this sanskrit bullshit got spread.
Honestly the best episode of Trash Taste. Was grinning and laughing, sounded like a great trip.
My mum went to Thailand when I was a kid and she said it was one of the most picturesque places she could imagine. Even the photos looked amazing. Glad you all got to experience another Garnt wedding together🎉
1:02:22 Daidus: “This squid is Not so neutral” ☠️
As an Indian who studies sanskrit joey those prayers do make your body float especially when you know what they mean
Props to garnt for explaining all the cultural tidbit to the bois so well. As a thai myself i'm not even sure i can explained all that half as good as him.
I absolutely loved how much of a visual spectacle King of the Monsters was, especially whenever Ghidorah was on screen. The man knew how to make an entrance
I went to vietnam beginning of this year and I’ll forever be impressed on how they manage to stack stuff plus their families on one little motorcycle
Dude, even though they are laughing, I bet it would have felt soo special for Joey and Connor to be able to Actually be part of the ceremony by dancing and doing push-ups
@@Nightvss I mean... They don't care about traditions but I bet they do care about Garnt.
And that was more of a fun gesture
@@Nightvss i mean that's the bare minimum..right? but i do get where you're coming from cuz asians celebrate or revere a lot of european customs unkniwingly...which is why i thinnk europeans take it for granted and don't put the same energy into reciprocating it's all just virtue signalling from yts.
As a Thai, this episode was sooooo much fun to listen to.
Connor watching Caddicarus’ Spyro video on a flight in business class is hilarious
That right there is taste
I loved hearing about the Thai wedding traditions! I found it really beautiful that each family member would bless Garnt and Sydney's marriage by wrapping a white thread as symbolism. Like how frickin cute
The most trustworthy way to get a tourist SIM card in Thailand is at a 7/11 😂 those girls at the counter tell you everything you need to know to not get scammed too
congrats to garnt and sydney for finally being married for the third time! the wedding ceremony story is really cool, when garnt explain it i imagine it was kinda like in the aladdin movie where aladdin as prince ali go to try marry the princess, i feel like they have similar purpose
Watching Caddicarus drinking champagne in first class. Life goals.
Finally another based caddicarus enjoyer, I'm glad someone else knows what video Connor was talking about! 🥲
Yeah im first thought was like he is watching Caddy!
Would be pretty sick to get Syds family to do an episode to hear their perspective about the travelling
We living today bois! First Connor’s Lucky Bag vid, then Joey’s Thailand Vlog, now we get the TT Thailand epi!
Ps: I feel betrayed Connor didn’t show us Garnt’s reaction to the Fate figure he got AND he not wearing that off-white jacket he got
Im an american living in thailand for about a year and its so funny hearing connor and joey talk about it. Also, i havent had a single friend who hasnt gotten into a motorbike accident. Shits scary!
I'm waiting for the Bois to visit all SEA countries and compare the different cultures and what kind of similarities they have. It's gonna be interesting to hear their opinions.
I hope they visit India, it will be a different ride for them
@@IB21066 Fax they never did that and it's been so long
Gonna be kinda similar to Japan
daidus -cambodia
emirich-south korea
Hope they visit Malaysia someday
As a South East Asian inhabiting the place below Thailand, Joey and Connor reactions are a joy lol.
These are my fav episodes because you provide a new POV on life and inspire me to travel the world to see new stuff.
Omg the beginning part is extremely funny 😂😂😂
I'm from India and SEA stories are soo close to home. Like, Tuk tuk is just Autorickshaw here😂😂
We call that tomtom in Bangladesh man and it's hilarious whenever I explain what the hell is that to my European cousins
Connor: "Does not like turn your brain off movies."
Also Connor: "Cannot watch cutscenes in movies. Too boring."
THE PACIFIC RIM CROSSOVER WAS THE FIRST TO OPEN THE UNIVERSE. The after-credits scenes showed the organization researching and fighting against the kaiju. I look forward to the big crossover if they are able to make it as well.
This episode feels like a special with all this incredible stories
Wow. As an Indian I was surprised to see that monks in Thailand chant Sanskrit! I kind of understand a bit since it's similar to Hindi and I studied it at school. But I didn't know other Asian cultures spoke it.
All Buddhist cultures use Pali and Sanskrit.
@Jack the Turtle please don't use it even in prayers. it's a language that was imposed upon indians and later the south indian kings who invaded south east asian were dumb enought to spread that language in thailand, indonesia, etc.
this whole episode i felt they were describing india even though they were talking about thailand 😂😂😂
Most South East/south asian countries are like that
hashtag poverty life
Given Buddhism originated in india not too surprising
There's loads of Indians in Thailand and the Indian culture influenced Thailand a fair bit.
1:34:45 Wow that brewery is actually run by my high school math teacher's brother! I remember him talking about it during one of his lectures and found it so interesting that his brother travelled to Japan and started Obina Brewing.
I lived in thailand for 5 years and never encountered scams as far as I can tell, they may have been just offering me things I didn't want
That "someone gonna take photo anyway" hits me. I had the same trauma.
*Me:* Oh, dang, with Garnt in the center of the thumbnail, we can have all 3 of the boys in there
*Thumbnail:* LMAO DOUBLE GARNT
I want you guys to know that you make my job delivering mail in this brutally cold windy rain today much more bearable, because I'm doing it laughing and with a smile on my face. Thanks for the laughs and warm fuzzies 😊❤
Trash Taste really be out here being Mr. Worldwides 😂
I love the apparel garnt's wearing, the colors are so strinking with the black
dude this episode had me dying! but man the wedding seemed so beautiful. Thailand seemed magical. I dont even know his family but they seemed amazing
The power of the bois' amazing storytelling
Don't be embarrassed Connor for watching Caddicarus! The dude and his videos are FIRE!!!
Glad the boys finally got to see Bangkok but IMO Thailand really shines in all the other areas like Chiang Mai, phuket, the islands.
So I had to google what a Tuk Tuk is and when I saw it, I immediately thought "Ah, so basically a Thailand AutoRikshaw. Like the ones we have in India."
And yea, they fit like 6-7 people in!!! I used to take auto everyday for college till I just started using my parent's bike. And man it used to be so uncomfortable!
I saw Joey's video and was wondering if the Thailand trip would come up on the podcast soon. Didn't take long!
I knew Joey was a true Godzilla fan when he repped Mothra, the correct choice, best girl.
53:36 no but this is so true 💀like i have all the stamina to pose for IG pics with my friends all night but when my asian aunties pull out their cameras + fiddle with their landscape/selfie modes throughout dinner i start feeling like a photo prop LOL
The wedding sounds so wonderful tbh- they all seem to have enjoyed it too! Thats what makes a wedding great
They should do an international special where they go to Wales, Australia and Thailand all in one special
That would be cool
@@jostafro4967 Ikr!

I’m going to guess that Connor was watching caddy and his most recent Spyro retrospective. A several hour flight is the perfect time to be watching his long retrospectives if that’s the case.
Did somebody mention Daddy Caddy
YES I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING WHEN HE WAS LIKE 2 HOUR SPYRO VIDEO
FINALLY MORE BASED CADDY ENJOYERS, I'm so glad there are other people who knew what video he was talking about 🥲🥲
It is interesting how close the traditional Thai wedding and the traditional Bulgarian wedding are! The whole thing with going to the brides' house, passing through gates with "trials" to see if you are worthy and the bribing at the end are the same!
Congrats Garnt and Sydney for finishing your wedding journey 🥳
About drinking beer with a straw, I think it has something to do with the probabilities of the beer cans being dirty especially if you bought it from the local market or shops, cause sometimes stores have rats in them and some cans have black stains on top of it.
That's why my mom prefers drinking canned drinks through straw, at least here in Indonesia.
I agree, I feel like in my part of Europe we can choose to get a straw and I feel it's wasteful but at the same time you don't know where that can was lying for how long and what animals might or might not pee on it.
@@Josette274 eastern european proud moment
i’m surprised the boys didn’t just use Grab, it’s like the uber of SEA
OMG, Garnt's story about the water "sprinkling" is giving me flashbacks! I visited a temple in Phuket back in 2020, and I decided to receive a blessing from one of the monks there.
Let me tell you --I WAS NOT READY for the water. I'm not quite sure what my face looked like, but the old monk was definitely amused by what he saw. Will definitely bend my head more next time.
I just know Connor is internally freaking out after Joey said thongs instead of sandals.
I'll admit, I did a double take there, too. Then I remembered, he's Australian, 'flip flops' (or local term) was what he meant.
Never would've happened in the Thailand of my youth🤣
what tourism. its just a bunch of white incels lloking for submissive asian wives in thailand
Awesome, really looking forward to Garnt and Sydneys next wedding. Will it be a summer episode? Or a St. Patrick's day special?
The boys talking about Thai experiences reminded me so much of my cousin's weddings here in India. Complete with all the rituals including the procession and bribery part. We even have the aunts with cameras and that one loud uncle. And our tuk tuk guys even know there's a wedding in the locality so they go into scam overdrive with the guests. 😂
Thank you so much Joey, Connor, and Garnt. My flight has now become much more peaceful
Trash taste Thai boxing special might be the actual best video ever and I will rewatch it Al least 50 times
My week feels incomplete without the boys
