Hi . We have moved to Bangalore after spending 10 years in Australia last month . Still settling. Thanks a lot your videos helped in making our move which we were thinking about since 2019 .
@Nisha. I have been living in NewZealand with my family for 10 years now. We are planning to come back to Bangalore India. I have two kids age 12 & 5. I would like to know what challenges faced & how can I prepare for those.
Very informative and appreciate your willingness to share even your very personal information just help people so that they can take decisions based on your experiences...Thanks again 🙏💐🕉
Gives a good perspective on the expenses. Thanks. Can you also do a video about what did you do about your investments and savings. How did you transfer them to india?
Your expenses seem on the lower side and you havn't really included major purchases like Car, TV, Phones, Laptop, furniture, Kitchen stuff, gadgets etc which could run in may lakhs today. If you buy 20L car every 7-8 yrs, it would cost almost 2L per year considering it sells for 4L as a used vehicle. My brother bought a 4 bed apt near Varthur which costs almost 2cr and was paying around 2L every month for emi. Same flat rents for 1.6L. His other costs were around 1L + school + other extra expense. All in all around 4L monthly. Life in India (metro) seems to get very expensive nowadays where you might be spending around US$4000 - 5000 for a decent lifestyle. This is not very different from a tier2 city in US where your main expense is rent/mortgage(around $2500) and everything else can be around $3000. Of course excluding domestic help or nanny. Kinda miss good old days where cost of living in India was 1/4th of the US. You could go to the US, save money for 6 -7 yrs, come back, buy a house and live comfortably thereafter.
Thanks for your comment @MrTeslaX , 5k USD= 4.16 lacs per month. 1. You are comparing USA tier 2 with India Tier 1 city 2. Lifestyle is very subjective, given people want to lead different lives. 3. I have seen many working in Bangalore and making around 25-35 lacs per annum have decent life car etc. but they don't have many expenses like big house worth 2 cr , Germán cars, etc 4. I am not trying to recreate the USA in India, so expenses are not that high, but that is not my lifestyle anyway.
@@no-oneknows9236 Thanks for your response but I am comparing US Tier Vs India Tier 1 cos most of the facilities that are available in US tier 2/3 cities aren't available in Tier2 city in India. 2. I agree. I am talking about an unconstrained happy life. 3. 25-35 definitely good salary and doable, but, I am comparing from US as you are address the cohort who are US return. 2Cr. actually isn't that much of money for house in India. If you have 2-3 kids and wfh. 4 bed becomes a necessity and 2cr is the starting price for 4bhk. I am also considering only cheaper schools as expensive ones can be 10-12L/ year. Also, Germans cars(except VW/skoda) are in the range of 40-50L. I am considering a decent safe car which can easily cost 17-20 L. 4. Definitely don't want to recreate US in India. The idea is to have a holistic lifestyle with best of both worlds. Finally, I do agree if you have house and other big purchases paid off, you can live a decent life for under 2L. I am looking to return in 3-4yrs and buy the house right away. Hopefully it materializes soon.
@Mahaboob No actually, I shared what I ended up spending. I know many have much less expenses then 20 lakhs. Your rent can be much lower then 50 k , I have friends who are paying 20k rent so they saved 3.6 lakhs there itself
Hello, we have also shifted in Bangalore last year from usa after 8 years. But we have chosen homeschool though my kid is learning Sanskrit, Hindi for last 7years in usa only from hindu temple.
Wow , we actually wanted to home school our kids too but got afraid of managing it with work etc. Thanks Appreciate your comment. I would love to learn from you about the home schooling process.
Thanks for sharing your video; it offers a fresh perspective. I grew up in a boarding school and wasn't very attached to my family, but my wife is different. She has strong emotional ties with her family. We've been living in Canada for 6 years; I've been here for 14, and our daughter is 3 years old. I'm thinking of moving back to India, using my savings from equity and bonds, while my wife wants to keep working in IT. I'll keep following your journey. We also own a mortgage-free house in Bangalore that brings rental income. I'm 38 years old. Can you give me advice about living in India just on investment income?
1st step is to decide on where to live, expected lifestyle and annual expenses. Then you can make a financial plan based on videos available. For passive income start investing in mutual funds after reading about types of funds. Making a retirement plan is simple. But Spend time reading and seeing videos ( Indian market). To retire on passive income one needs to understand the various types of risks in equity and debt market, and how to handle them to make a robust plan / cashflow.
Very bad or too less 😀 ? Monk Bangalore rents are definitely high but you can still find 3 bhk in really good community for 65k and cheaper if you decide to choose different locations.
