Hello ! This roleplay was mainly inspired by the Little Women movies (especially the 1994 version, my favorite), and I hope you’ll enjoy the nostalgic vibes :) Prenez place, et que la leçon commence !

Well, you can think whatever you want but you're in fact wrong. English has one of the hardest phonology in the world and its grammar isn't overall simpler than its french counterpart, with the exception of conjugation. Truth is, the use of prepositions is much harder in English than it is in French. And I'm not even talking about orthography, which is a complete mess in English, with no consistency at all. The reason English is easier to learn does not lie in the language itself but in its omnipresence throughout the world whereas you're almost never exposed to French if you don't live in a country where it's widely spoken.

Diane: “.... or when speaking to your cat”
Me: [looks over at my cat]
Moppes: [gives me his no-nonsense squinty stare]
Me: no... I think I rather like living, I shall therefor keep using “vous” when speaking to my cat

The name suites him well! He always looks at me with this mopey expression. Hence the name. It actually comes from the Dutch verb “mopperen” , which means to mope in English.
And also Moppes happens to be an Ikea item (no longer sold, last I checked) which I really loved. So I already liked the word, tho I do not know what it means in Swedish.
