This is our last video in our big summer family road trip. In this video we are going to Fort McHenry where the Star Spangled Banner was written in Baltimore, Maryland. Then we spend 2 days in Washington DC at the National Mall and check out several of the Smithsonian Museums, Fords Theater, The White House, Capitol Building, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial etc... Then off to Virginia to Fort Monroe. After that we go into North Carolina to see the Grave Digger monster truck headquarters, and the Wright Brothers Monument at Kitty Hawk, and the Lost Colony on Roanoke Island, and a quick stop at Fort Dobbs before we head home. I'm quite thankful too because I will also never have the opportunity to see all the great places you've been and showed your children. Laughed my butt off at that moment the rain hit and the kids bolted to the car and you mentioned Marge had the keys and everyone had to wait as everything was running on Marge speed

Dang Son! You made me wait a month to come to my stomping grounds! I installed and programmed the fire alarm in the little house across the street from Ford’s Theater where Lincoln died. I also have done extensive fire alarm work in the Holocaust Museum. We can only work at night. That place has some bad mojo inside. Super creepy at night…

I enjoyed every bit of the 9 plus hours these last 4 weeks of videos . Reminds me of the few I went on to NY or out west to Colorado with my family when I was a kid..But listening to what u sent to eat and park and everything else ,we wouldn't be able to afford to go on these trips now..Ur a good dad to do what is necessary to be able to take ur family on a trip like this...gotta make those memories while u can ..those kids are growing up fast!!!

I just finished the other reading a old,old National Geographic magazine with picture on the building of that Chesapeke Bay tunnel.Your sharing your view of going thru the tunnel was special.Back in the day it took all day by canoe to cross the bay and travel.Your efforts thru your ongoing narritive,and the risks and costs you incurred to share this expedition with us are truly appreciated Josh and family.This is how America,family,vacations was meant to be.God bless.

I'm almost 78 and am NOT ashamed to tell folks I ALWAYS get emotional when I hear our National Anthem. I imagine Francis Scott Key looking out there in the dawns early light following an all night shelling of Fort McHenry and seeing our tattered Flag STILL STANDING. Our ForeFathers and Mothers fought and died for America's Freedoms way back in the 1700's and America's soldiers fight and die for America's Freedoms to this day. GOD BLESS AMERICA and GOD BLESS all who aren't afraid to cry when we hear America's National Anthem. Those words are magnificent.

I’m absolutely THRILLED that you came to my hometown, the Hampton Roads area-where America was born in 1607, Jamestown. Fort Monroe, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg--all the places that shaped the world and our nation. Only wish I could have shaken your hand to say thank you for the indelible lessons you teach your kids and share with all of us, and those like me who didn’t have any real childhood growing up.
Keep these videos coming, and keep showing your kids the wonderful parts of America that most kids will never learn about.

I believe you guys missed an important place, that being Arlington National Cemetery. I don't know if you are allowed to video there, I was there when I was a kid and witnessed the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown. It is a powerful and emotional thing to watch, I remember getting the chills as a 10 year old, I didn't truly understand the significance of it until I was older. I truly believe that every citizen should go to Arlington, it is such a sacred and hallowed area you are overwhelmed with all kinds of emotion but there is also a lot of history there. Thank you so much for sharing you vacation with all of us, you didn't need to do that but it was an amazing thing that you shared with us the community.

Thanks for this experience. I've always been a fan of Lincoln and have been saddened by the events that took his life. The personal tragedies that this man experienced is heart breaking. Did you notice the scene you all go up the escalators escalators the lady in the background DROPPED her baby flat on the floor? It's the scene before you start looking at the Indian beads and big leather drawings.i felt sorry for the small child,that was crazy when I seen it and disturbing.

Heck of a nice trip and video, it's great to see someone enjoys history and how far we've come as a nation. On a side track...if you have hiccups, take a pinch of salt. Was there in fall of 91. At the time, Fords Theater was in what was basically a scuzy neighborhood. Glad to see its been cleaned up. Air & Space. Impressed that the Wright Flyer now has its own exhibit. Bummer that half the museum was undergoing renovations. The Spirit of St Louis: Not enough time to see it, in the "closed for renovations" sections, or ended up on the cutting room floor?? Impressive vacation series again sleeperdude!!!;
P.S. I noticed that the rooftop flag was up @ the White House, which meant Prez Biden was home and "possibly" walking around in his underwear....😂😂😂 If it was down, not home oh well 😢😢

Growing up my Pastors wife as a young teen (15-16) was a translator at the Nauenberg trials
what she had to hear and translate left her very emotionally hurt.

And then after all the trips jump on the scale and see how much weight you guys lost because this was a abundance of walking that I've ever seen you guys do. Fort Monrow is one of my favorite free museums and walking for exercise. Always bring my out of state guests there. Love walking the walls seeing the pet cemetery, The Casement Museum. etc.
my wife and I took a train from Sedalia Mo.to Washington . we spent 8 hours touring . then a few years later , the whole family plus an exchange student visited D.C. we spent two days trying to see everything . the girls only wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe . love our capital
