Everyone's takeaway from this should be that it takes time, nutrition and consistency! No fad diets are gonna get you to where you want to be. Great job Nikki

Just wanted to say I just started my journey. I had a tough day at work and just got home. I was considering just "cheating" and restarting my journey when things calm down a bit. Just opening up youtube and seeing your thumbnail convinced me to push through for the day:)

Exactly what Nikki said. But unfortunately there’s going to be all kinds of things to try to throw us off.😢

As I am less than 5 feet tall, losing 10 pounds got me down at least 1 size but this weight loss has taken FOREVER! I am 62 and obviously post menapause and very out of shape. My health issues have contributed to my weight gain so my journey and exercise is going to take much longer than a younger person. For anyone else out there who is older just keep going and slow but steady wins for raise!

This video is so helpful for me. I've been losing wight since January (lost 25 pounds) and began to lift weight around march. It's so hard to see changes with building muscles! I feel that I'm stronger but it takes so much time so see it. My butt is so flat (flatter than yours when you began ahaha) and sometimes I think that it won't never grow. But thanks to you i have to remind myself that it takes time and consistency..

Thank you for being so transparent. And talking about the number on the scale and the pictures really shows that we shouldn't focus too much on the number if you are eating right and building muscle. You are inspiring!

Yessss!!! Thank you for saying the first part about recomposing your body!! It def takes dedication and hard work, nothing magic or fast about it!!💪🏻

Love this! The difference in your body from weight training is remarkable and at a higher weight! I think when we are on our weight loss journey we focus so much on the scale and calorie deficits that we lose sight of the benefits of weight training and protein intake. I’m still learning that 🤓

Thanks, Nikki for your honest scoop on how long it took you to see fitness results. I currently am in physical therapy and want to improve my fitness beyond recovery. I like that the biggest focus of your channel is diet, as this is what I am most focused on. But I also like how you include healthy physical fitness routine without going to unsustainable excess. In this video, I appreciated your fitness history and pictures. Although I am starting way back behind you, I found your video helpful! Love you Nikki!

A year ago I got serious about my health and started burning fat with walking and a sustainable calorie deficit. I lost 30lbs! Now I’m making a pivot into maintenance calories and heavy weight lifting. Patience remains the BIGGEST key to both. Mindset made the fat loss possible for me, and I know the same mindset will be needed to reach my goals with muscle building. Also, staying open to learning what works for you and being willing to keep trying when the approach you started with needs to evolve. ❤

Thanks Nikki! This video really resonated with me since I just finished reading a wonderful book by James Cleary called Atomic Habits. It’s not a weight loss book but discusses how habit changes build up over time and you will not see immediate results. I just have to be patient 😊

I just recently recognized how much of a negative impact an all or nothing mindset has had on me in the past and I’m working on hammering in a mindset of consistency without excuses but gratitude. I’m only 2.5 weeks in and am trying to love the process. My first goal is to reach a month straight of nutritious eating over all and doing 2 weight lifting and 1 cardio session per week. I’ve always loved arms, and back/chest days, but have always hated glutes, legs and ab days. I just finished my first workout for the week(abs), doing a run tomorrow and back/chest Saturday, and I’m pretty excited honestly. Despite how tired I am. But I’m trying to remember that I’m going to be tired no matter what, so why not get something out of that tiredness eventually? I hope that makes sense and makes you feel understood. ❤

How tall are you? I was originally aiming for 185, but the other week found out to get to a healthy BMI I would have to get down to 160 at 5'10". Ive got time to figure out where to land, I'm in the 340s right now, but down 8 pounds so far. I know I felt I looked anorexic at 170, but that was also about the time I found out I was expecting baby #2.

I'm getting very sad and depressed. And January this year as able to get down to my lowest of 190.2 but my skill is off by 1 pound because I stepped on the scale again and the same time frame and it went to 191.2 but still lol anyways After that now I have slowly start going back up again and now I am back up to 201.2. I'm still not eating out all the time I'm still not eating a bunch of junk food still trying to keep my sugars around 24 a day. Still staying under 13 saturated fats. My doctor thinks I'm still eating more than 1500 cal a day which I wasn't really counting calories before because I knew I was doing way too many so I was just trying to stay focused on not going out to eat all the time and watching my sugars and Staying under a certain amount of saturated fats and trying not to do trans. Basically I don't know what the heck I'm doing wrong but my weight is starting to swell go back up again. Think I'm doing too many calories my sister doesn't think I'm doing enough. She knows my body is trying to Store because I'm not eating enough. I'm scared I don't know what to do because I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I just know I'm starting to lose my willpower my biggest goal was to get under 200 my doctor wanted me to get down to 184 and I'm right back up to over 200 again. as hard for me to track stuff because I'm completely blind but I did count my calories for a day of what I usually eat because I try to eat the same thing every morning for breakfast and I try to eat the same thing every night for dinner just changing up my lunch and deciding what healthier snack to eat a serving of in a day sweet or savory wise. when I added what I ate and a day today it was close to 1200 cal. So I know I'm not doing more than 1500 in a day most days. and thats what he wanted me to do is 1500 a day

Try to see if your composition has changed, ie. more muscle mass?

  • @bluaurora8635

You’d wanna be in a calorie surplus to gain muscle, it seems like you’ve been mostly recomping so you’ve been trying to gain muscle at maintenance calories which takes forever. I know you’re in a cut now, maybe when done with that you can go on a bulk to gain muscle and fat and then cut to reveal the muscle?

I am 61 and struggle to lose weight due to some medical issues that affect what I can eat (I cannot eat lots of fiber and fruits) and my workouts (neuropathy in my feet due to a herniated disc in my back). Even with all these obstacles, I am losing slowing and noticing a difference in the way my clothes fit. So, it IS possible! She is right, consistency is the key.
