Good for you, one very wet night I was a passenger of a woman who always drove too fast, I told her to slow down, the water on the road was dangerous. I was ignored and she aquaplaned. We were ok, we are not taught properly about these things before we pass the test

I had to do a trip in deep water last night (in a valley so the road was a river for 4 miles) I sailed past THREE suvs in my tiny little hatchback. And made it back the other way. People are just plough in thinking their car is a damn oil tanker.😂

What people might not be aware of is the potential damage to the vehicle Cat, the cold shock of the water on the Cat metal skin can shatter the cat honeycomb structure.

Reason the taxi driver got through in the Toyota was he was using his hybrid motor but when he tries to turn the engine on he may get a nasty shock unless he leaves it sat off for a few hours to dry lol
Very unpleasant surprise too if any water has seeped into the battery compartment whilst submerged!

@@graemetaylor4149the hybrid battery sits under the rear seat base, if no water got inside the interior it should be dry.
You'd struggle to get up out the other side without the engine kicking in tbh, the bigger problem with any car going into water that deep is all the other things it will ruin like parking sensors and adaptive cruise, ABS etc etc.

Some of these people really are a risk to all other humans.....ploughing into floods at night, shorting the electrics.....how long before someone is killed, because of another numpty driving at speed, and not seeing a stranded car ?.

3 guys were killed in Yorkshire very recently driving their car through the River Esk.

I was visiting the Midlands during this storm. Some very wet roads and deep puddles. Luckily did not drown my car. Looking forward to visit the UK again.

That is not the same. Old cars died from water beacuse of the ignition electronics soaked. The repair was just let it dry. Nowadays cars' electronics are waterproof. If they stop under water it is because their engine sucked up water into the cylinders. Repair of a dived engine is more than costly.
How did that Prius get through? I'm thinking maybe it was using the battery only for that bit but the water would surely still get in the engine?
old kenilworth castle ford, steam through my garden runs into this river/ steam about mile down. castle ford dose flood lot less these days since they installed bigger pipes under road many years ago , but soon the grids get blocked that it , over the road it goes. remember when younger we did not like the improvements not seen a flood in ages so we went up river / steam and chucked all sorts in and as expected it to had few ft water over the road. biggest danger to that ford is grid under the foot path if you get swept under the path you going to be in bit trouble

Poor saab, the air filter box is down near the front right fog then there's another charge pipe were the front grill is best thing to do is put k nd n airfilter on with lots of grease then remove the charge pipe

This is why toyota stays on top of car companie there reliability and relatively affordable price is unmatched. All car brands last majority 10 year but the toyota will still be on the road after 25 year latter even when there original factory part. That's really a value for the money car
One things is for sure a toyota will not let you down. Them Japanese engineers made sure there car are able survive the apocalypse lol.

People don't seem to understand air intakes in engines. If you have to go through the water, drive really slowly and wait for water to settle in front of you to keep it as low as possible.

This game is mainly about where the air intake is positioned. 3/4 series bmw are the worst since it is placed very low down on those models. I guess that the owners don't know or even open the bonnet to learn this.

@@MX-MugThe battery compartment and all cabling is IP rated for use in submerged conditions due to rain, the battery is in a sealed unit. Many ICE cars also used properly IP rated connectors on their electrical looms, which is why most people not getting across are suffering from water ingestion into the engine. You lot are so weird

Doesn’t change that they are designed to operate in certain conditions. ICE and EV cars can tolerate a lot of submersion, they are designed for it, but an ICE can ingest water. This issue doesn’t exist with EV’s should they have passed quality control that holds them to a design standard.
Ive got an electric mini and wouldn't dare drive through a ford. I know my batteries are beneath my rear seats. I can't believe the tesla was ok
Rich Rebuilds took apart some flood damaged Tesla's, there was a lot of non submersible equipment in them that did not survive. It may be a case now of electrical gremlins 😮
