- Not all DIY’s are successful. I totally bombed this one. At First. And if I’m being quite honest I stood in my own way. Had I not felt the need to rush and complete this project, took the time to step back and reevaluate the situation I would’ve saved myself a lot of anxiety and frustration.
What was actually a pretty simple and straight forward DIY, I overcomplicated. As well as not taking my time to pay attention to detail, things began to spiral. But hey, I don’t look at mistakes as failure but an opportunity to learn something new. Follow along as I take my whack at HACK-ing the IKEA Billy Bookcase. Adding ARCHES and FLUTED doors with BRASS knobs elevated this piece giving it a look that is TIMELESS!
Watch as I start off strong, quickly get deflated and rise again.. I hope you all enjoy this video, that it inspires you to try something out of your comfort zone and never give up.

Thank you so much. A cordless power drill was my first power tool. Depending on budget and space miter saws are great. They look intimidating but are actually pretty easy to use. If you aren't ready for that I would consider a circular saw or jigsaw. They are small but can handle a variety of cuts. If power tools are still too big of a leap you can also consider a miter box and hand saw. I also have a short for other beginner tools.
