The ballerina’s evil mirror self is really a portrayal of how she sees her imperfections. As she’s trying to show herself in the mirror how she is supposed to dance correctly, her mirror self is annoyed that she can’t do it right. However we can clearly see that the ballerina is doing the dance correctly compared to how she sees herself in the mirror, signifying how she cannot imagine herself to do things the right way. The injuries that she suffered from her mirror self could have also been the result of over training due to her fear of failing the performance.
@@glennparker9059 Yeah that's what I said; the image had some jealousy goin on towards the end. It had no reason to break her ankle like that accept frustrated because it couldn't do it right.

I love this! The reflection is how she sees herself, but that image can never live up to the image of perfection she wants to be. So, the reflection begins to break her, mentally and physically, using her own body against her. Notice how the initial breaks and the zoomed out images don't match. It's like the mental is just as bad as the physical toll. When she let the perfect image go, or die lol, the way she saw herself (the reflection) was able dance freely with no cares.
Destroying mirror was the first thing come into my mind. Anyone agree? I'll pay for it after destroying it, because for the moment to avoid any further consequences.

Pure psychological horror! No jump scares or anything, just a liminal-space, unsettling motions, and a very good score! Also can I point out her acting skills? She did a very good job!
i was a ballerina for 10 years. somehow, i connected with the main character here...on the psychological horror aspect, it felt as if she was forever haunted by the fact that ballet is all she has. the strict rules, the discipline and the striving to become exactly how a ballerina should be, looking like everyone else, synchronizing your movements to everyone else's...i understand why traning alone at night in an empty studio made her lose her mind and brought up those fears of deviating from the norm. this might be a fucking reach, but all in all, loved this movie hahahah
@MageBurger its is definitely scarier! through the years i've seen and heard "horror stories" about colleagues breaking bones from training nonstop, or too hard, or without teacher supervision. a mirror version of the ballerina who throws a tantrum when it can't get the choreography right is somehow on par with seeing another ballerina from the same academy as me get a fracture so bad that her bone was exposed...at rehearsal.
It seems to describe an artist or performer who envisions the perfect work of art or performance in their mind. However, when they fail to bring that vision to life, instead of refining it, they simply strangle and kill the idea. The artist here is the reflection in the mirror and this portrayal of the artist is a common reality-a metaphor for how some creative individuals may give up when their imagined perfection doesn't translate into reality.

it doesn't look realistic at all. they should've added more things like a white eye or some blood or falling down quicker than this, she stared at the camera for too long smh.
Ballerina: teaches dance to a reflective type ghost Ghost: doesn't get it, gets jealous and remembers that it has more powers Also Ghost: "So anyways I started blasting"
i feel like its a metaphor for how the ballerina perceives herself, how she see's her skills as deeply flawed and imperfect. which really makes sense because a belerina's training is just so harsh; they strive for the perfection of every movement.
It was so creepy the whole time. This is how horror should be. Missed opportunity for the ghost to mess with the main character even more, just to really show how evil it is.
So ominous and frightfully mesmerizing. The ballerina/actress did a wonderful job. Everything was smooth and professional grade. You guys have evolved a lot as filmmakers. Glad I’m here for it. Stunning work.
Yess!! Also great Visual effects especially on the fingers! Wow ... and the mirrors aswell! There goes so much planning into erasing camera’s from the mirrors
Once when I showered early in the morning before school, and everyone else was asleep, someone had drawn a really creepy face in the mirror and I almost had a heart attack
Anyone would. But then we would have no story. Personally, I don't like mirrors. If not actively using them for trying on clothes checking my hair, etc, I prefer them facing away or covered. I've been that way as long as I have I can remember.
@@nemesisdreiamn4984 hello haha, I think I’m late, but you need to have a great mental health to know that you will never be perfect, because perfection doesn’t exist really, or you’ll end up like the ballerina on the film, apart from that is a pretty unique sensation, I love it from the bottom of my heart and couldn’t wish for a better job
@@Idallis8640 they just edited the mirror, they filmed her doing bad the things, delete the part of her of the place of practice, then they fiilmed her doing perfect and good the dance and the delete the part of her of the mirror, and later they delete the cameraman, that's all lol
I loved this, and reading the comments about how people believe the reflection is a metaphor for the ballerina feeling she is making too many mistakes in the choreography is cool. My interpretation was that the ballerina and her reflection are two separate entities and that when the ballerina saw how the reflection was making mistakes she tried to show her how to do it correctly. Only for the reflection to take advantage of that kindness and use it to hurt the ballerina. In the cutthroat world of ballet making one wrong move can cost you a career, and giving advice to someone can cost you your dream role. That's how O saw it at least.

The premise seems so silly at first, not sure I would have even watched it if I had known. Like something out of Looney Tunes. But I give a lot of credit to the way this short was presented and the performance of the actress. I'm glad that it held my interest because it ended up being a worthwhile watch and even provides some psychological fodder about what is represented here.
This was phenomenal. Horror should not just 'scare' you, as scaring is cheap and can be easily achieved with cheap gimmicks like jump-scares... TERROR on the other hand is lasting in it's effects, and much harder to earn. This short film achieves TERROR, hard earned from scenes like the dancing at the end, which is amazing, the moves contrasts greatly from our ballerina's fragile calculated moves we see in the beginning, now being crude and vulgar, indicating that this evil imposter is getting a feel for it's new human form that is so alien to it. It is now lacking any semblance of grace, poorly mimicking the humanity it had observed from the dancer, while simultaneously mocking it. Evil. Brilliant. Bravo.
Conjuring is a horror classic because it too has terror through the crooked man lore and all. but it has its fair share of jump scares as well, just goes to show u can do both. bravo

These comments are enlightening. I honestly thought the mirror was trying to teach her how to dance in an otherworldly way but the opposite makes much more sense

THIS is true horror. This did in only a few minutes what the Saw and Hostel series tried to do. No gallons and gallons of stage blood, no brains and/or guts falling out, just pure terror. Beautiful.
Those movies weren't trying to do the same thing as this film. They were made to disgust and repulse the audience and Hostel also had political messaging. All of them are valid
There are so many horror shorts on youtube and they're usually pretty middling to just outright bad for a variety of reasons, and you always see the comments flooded with praise and blah blah blah. But legitimately I think this one is a real banger. Every aspect of is well done.
I love rh choreography of the “ballerina” at the end. It’s so creepy and uncanny, the way her head hardly moves and her eyes stay dead set on the camera. Reminds me of that one scene from Kairo with the woman.
Love this! Has hints of Black Swan and Suspiria with it's own original take! If anyone would work through a physical impending horror and a broken foot, it would be a ballet dancer!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it 1000 times, Music and sound design in horror movies can make or break a film . And the music in this short film is absolutely phenomenal! 10 out of 10
One of my favorite parts of this entire video (and there’s many favorites) is the music - especially at 1:42. To me, the music sets the stage more than anything else
NO BS FR FIRST OF ALL I WOYLD MEVER GO ALONE DURING NIGHT IN THIS EMPTY BIG ROOM AND ALSO IF YOU SEE THIS HAPPENING- GIRLS SOMETHING IS WRONG JUST RUN AWAY
Soundtrack and choreography are on fire, the actress is fantastic, and the horror is unsettling and going to stick with me for a long time any time it gets dark.
This is one of the scariest films I've ever seen. It touches on some fears everyone has deep down, and it confronts you with things you rather not think about. Well done :)
And at the end when the real girl dies, she falls in a jerky manner like the reflection did when she danced. If this is a movie about inner critics, I guess her inner critic won.

In this film, I saw jealousy, rivalry and a desire to destroy my competitor. Both in gymnastics and in ballet there is a constant rivalry to be first, "prima". One can see the very fact that the ballerina came to the gym at night for training, and her own envy of the best ballerinas was reflected in the mirror .. And the reflection crippled the ballerina just as if she herself wished this to her competitors. ...Her pointe shoes were disheveled by numerous trainings .. But the fact that even if she eliminated her competitors, her reflection remained in the mirror, which dances very badly ... That is, no physical violence will help this ballerina become the best.
Fantastic and terrifying. Our actress plays both the role of the monster, and the victim so seamlessly! Absolutely chilling concept, very well realized!

i was a ballerina for 10 years. somehow, i connected with the main character here...on the psychological horror aspect, it felt as if she was forever haunted by the fact that ballet is all she has. the strict rules, the discipline and the striving to become exactly how a ballerina should be, looking like everyone else, synchronizing your movements to everyone else's...i understand why traning alone at night in an empty studio made her lose her mind and brought up those fears of deviating from the norm.
this might be a fucking reach, but all in all, loved this movie hahahah
@MageBurger its is definitely scarier! through the years i've seen and heard "horror stories" about colleagues breaking bones from training nonstop, or too hard, or without teacher supervision. a mirror version of the ballerina who throws a tantrum when it can't get the choreography right is somehow on par with seeing another ballerina from the same academy as me get a fracture so bad that her bone was exposed...at rehearsal.
@MageBurger it actually happened and i dont know if she was ever able to dance again....oof

This is awesome. Lesson learned; If your shadow starts moving independently, don't try to teach it how to dance.

This is so goooood :0 Valeska did an amazing job, I love their creepy dance at the end! And the score is perfect, love an avant-garde horror track ❤
i feel like its a metaphor for how the ballerina perceives herself, how she see's her skills as deeply flawed and imperfect. which really makes sense because a belerina's training is just so harsh; they strive for the perfection of every movement.
I love this vibe ! It's ironic
No jump scares, no monster faces, just unsettling motion and a great score. Nice.
exactly ... soo plain yet so whole
It was so creepy the whole time. This is how horror should be. Missed opportunity for the ghost to mess with the main character even more, just to really show how evil it is.

@@_ariiriaa so all they do is delete, that's too easy 😅😂🤣
I loved this, and reading the comments about how people believe the reflection is a metaphor for the ballerina feeling she is making too many mistakes in the choreography is cool. My interpretation was that the ballerina and her reflection are two separate entities and that when the ballerina saw how the reflection was making mistakes she tried to show her how to do it correctly. Only for the reflection to take advantage of that kindness and use it to hurt the ballerina. In the cutthroat world of ballet making one wrong move can cost you a career, and giving advice to someone can cost you your dream role. That's how O saw it at least.
Woooww
The ballet world really isn't that cutthroat. That's just in the movies.

That's called point. Brutalpon the feet.
Outstanding performance by the actress, she showed so many emotions without saying a word.
Indeed. Ironically her gasps of fear was the part I was least persuaded by. Everything else was stellar (as far as I'm concerned).
Evil. Brilliant. Bravo.
Conjuring is a horror classic because it too has terror through the crooked man lore and all. but it has its fair share of jump scares as well, just goes to show u can do both. bravo
This is why when you see a demon in the mirror, you run, not interact with it :'>
Ehh but then wouldnt it just break both her legs?

THIS is true horror. This did in only a few minutes what the Saw and Hostel series tried to do. No gallons and gallons of stage blood, no brains and/or guts falling out, just pure terror. Beautiful.
Those movies weren't trying to do the same thing as this film. They were made to disgust and repulse the audience and Hostel also had political messaging. All of them are valid

THE ENDING SPOOKED ME AS SHE TURNED HER HEAD ,REALLY AMAZING,BUT AS A12YR OLD GIRL IT WASNT SO SCARY
