Thankfully these things are changing. Not just in third world countries but in the west as well. I have numerous bisexual and gay friends who are having many, many less uncomfortable encounters with strangers than the older generations. I don't think I've ever met anyone who gave any sort of special reaction when a topic suddenly changes to sexuality during a conversation. It never struck me as anything that special either, often to the point of forgetting that a certain friend is bi or gay. It's getting better. Social stigmas take a while to change, but it's getting there, and the effects are already noticable.
