My wife and I have traveled to Los Cabos for 20 years and moved down 3 years ago. Check out Casa Don Rodrigo and try the fettuccine made with their farm made cheese and how they prepare it at your table. There are 3 farm to table restaurants. Our favorite is Las Tamarindos, which is more rustic and less commercial. If you’re lucky one of the staff will walk you through their garden and select items for a specialty drink. Salude!
I am so grateful for your down-to-earth and chill approach to travelling and living. Your videos are full of valuable insights, treasures and practical information. Thankyou for not being a 'filtered' version of artifice and 'glam'! Keep 'em coming and happy/safe continued travels!
@@laura-bronner I saw your whale watching trip in Cabo. You are in a great location for fishing offshore too. Tuna and Dorado come in quite close to shore down there. Not sure if it is too early for Dorado but I am sure some other species are biting. Hire a Panga for a day and you will come back with fresh fish and a great video.
@@laura-bronner It ain't as nice as San Jose Del Cabo. Less to do, very isolated, and more expensive I feel like. A nice visit if you're driving but I'd rate La Paz and San Jose Del Cabo over it. For me it's maybe a one night stay if driving.
Yes, I did love Loreto. And La Paz. My brother flew down and we were traveling and stayed in Loreto. He wakes me up too early, "You wouldn't believe all the dolphins jumping right near shore!". That's Mexico, beautiful, good people, great food, hot.
I had visited San Jose del cabo in the 1980's loved it, of course it was a sleepy little town then, The scuba diving is fantastic, you don't need a boat, many places its fifty feet deep 30 yards off the beach.
Mask, snorkel and fins and you enter a new world. I followed a large strange fish to see him better, then he turned around and headed towards me. I got away quick as I could and learned not to be impolite in his lair.
Wife and I love visiting Cabo and we have overlooked San Jose Del Cabo every time…except this last time and we loved it. Being in our early 50’s we found this city a little more to our liking. We will be back!
Two restaurants away from the beach that I liked : HANGMAN for the atmosphere and live music TAQUERIA ROSSY for excellent food at low, low prices Also you've got to check out the excellent Saturday Food Market ( if it's still happening in these days of Covid)
We JUST ate at Taqueria Rossy this past weekend, by far the best fish tacos I've have in a long while. So fresh! Thanks for the other tips, will definitely check them out!
Spent a week last summer at the Westin Los Cabos--FABULOUS!! 2-bedroom timeshare with more square footage than my own townhome in CA! Took a day trip to San Jose del Cabo, a very sweet town, and had a great lunch at Jazmine's right in the center. Colorful Mexican washbowl and toiletbowl in this large restaurant (what a thing to remember!). Recognized your town square right away with its beautiful (closed) church and the colorful shops/galleries along the narrow streets. I realize our experience wasn't at all about finding reasonable permanent housing but kudos to you for your unexpected choice and sense of adventure. Liked San Jose del Cabo more than Cabo; we slipped in and out during a COVID lull and cherish our "find." We heartily recommend the area! Best wishes as an Expat!
So exciting!! Being snowed and iced in atm, I am living vicariously in warm, sunny, singing birdie filled places via UA-cam. I am really looking forwards to your new adventure. Woo hoo!!
We love San Jose del Cabo! Just returned from there to the States where we encountered snow, ice, and no power to our house for three days after two different flight cancellations. We look forward to being back in Mexico in just a few months after we find a long-term rental that fits our needs.
My favorite place to eat in San Jose del Cabo is Toro Guerro. I discovered it when watching Chef Rick Bayless filming an episode of his television show Mexico One Plate at a Time at that location. The food, and the experience is incredible. Whenever I am in SJDC I always make it a plan to visit the restaurant.
I loved San Jose del Cabo. I really loved the Art Walk. Artists opened their homes to show off their art and drink the tequila. It was a great time. Ask around for it. We just ended up walking right into it. It's worth a separate video on its own.
I stayed there for a few days last year and loooved it! Stayed right downtown in the art district at an extension of El Encanto that’s literally right next to a fabulous restaurant Jardin Secreto. It’s interesting how some of the restaurants are open/closed on random nights. Also had a good dinner at Choriarte. And fabulous lunch at a food truck just off the central plaza going towards the beach called Pato Buzo cevicheria.
We love San Jose, we visit Cabo several times a year and we alway stop at this open air restaurant, in San Jose. It’s down the street from the Walmart. I can’t wait to see your place because we have thought about buying or renting something in that area. Don’t get me wrong, we like “Cabo” , but we really like San Jose, Cabo!
San Jose. Go see Mike Pouey at Sardina's Cantina on the beach. Say Kirsten sent you. He's honest, funny, knows how to serve the best and he's connected.
Yay!!! I'm glad you choose San Jose del Cabo It's my favorite city in Baja California Sur I've have driven there 3 times from Santa Monica, California Enjoy it
I think you’re really good at this… I watch traveling videos all over the world… Not so much Mexico because I’ve traveled there a lot… But you’re so good at this and you have a very keen eye you justMake it more interesting than the average… Very good photography as well... thank you!
Thursday night art walk. Flora farms. Great Japanese at Nikson at Palmilla. Tuna tostados, lobster roll and matcha noodles with shrimp, all must haves!
Those place like mazatlan are beautiful but in winter time......in summer heat brutal and rainy often its tropical weather but from october to april weather it's fantastic
Very cool. Been going there for over a decade. Nice to see the hotel you stayed in finally open. I've been watching them try to renovate that place for years. Go check out the estuary on your way down to the beach. You'll likely see some interesting wildlife there. Also, take the bus over to the marina in San Jose. There are a few nice places to eat and things to see. Lastly, try to get a ride out to the East Cape. You'll find miles of nearly uninhabited pristine beaches. Enjoy!
SJDC is a great base location, so many places to see I see you like to hike Look up, canyon de zorro. Awesome trip. Not many people know about it You will love it
Wow, the last time I was there was 1986, this is a beautiful and charming town. I bet you stay awhile. The food is fabulous, the fishing was great, we always had a guides grille the fish we caught and shared with everyone, people are fantastic
my girlfriend and I stayed at the posda real resort and we could walk from there to town . it was so nice to see the old building like the church in the main square. i cant wait to go back there, we rented a car and went to todo santos and la paz. la paz was my favorite place but we did not have enough time there. san jose was really cool though
Was there a few years ago as a last minute thing and stayed at the Holiday Inn all inclusive which was nothing special. But wandered over to a little dive bar called Drinking Time on Calle Antonio Mijares. Fun place to chill out with cheap beers and people watching.
Congratulations on moving to San Jose del Cabo! You will love the area, we have had a home down in Cabo San Lucas for over 20 years. you have only just begun to explore, there are great places to visit and eat especially once you get to the back roads of both towns, and you will find great beaches less crowded than Medando beach in San lucas -- check out Playa de Chilano, one of our favorite. Also the hotel 624 you stayed at I believe the 624 stands for the area code When you head to Los Barilles be sure to check out La Playa restaurant right on the beach, next to Exokite.
I've been living here for 2+ years now. Welcome! It really is paradise I never want to leave. Restaurants/bars my favorites are Casa Guaycura, Habanero's (new location downtown) and Teo's is pretty good too more for the atmosphere I find their food greasy. Hiking there's a mountain on Blvd Flojadores called Cerro De Las Chivas there's a beautiful view at the top and most hikers start as early as 5am. There's also a bike trail that connects into to there and all over even the beach. I live in Chamizal the rents here are a little cheaper and it's also very walkable.
Told ya ;) we lived there for a few years until Odile sent us packing back home. I actually would move back to Baja but to Los Barriles this time. SJC is too busy for me now. Enjoy your time there we visit every year.
As was mentioned in another comment, take in the art walk tonight (Thursday). I'm in san Jose at this moment and will be strolling through the streets (closed to traffic) but first stopping at La Dolce restaurant. Yes, I know, when in Rome but this place serves up some fantastic Italian dishes as well as the Mexican feasts. As far as beaches, you're already familiar with Playa Costa Azul but heading back toward San Lucas (about 15-20 minutes) is Playa Chilena. About another 5 minutes from there, still going toward San Lucas is Playa Santa Maria. Playa Santa Maria is a bit different to get to as you must go beyond to the next "returno" to now head back toward San Jose. Only one sign for the exit. Both are fantastic public beaches. Hope you enjoy San Jose; I don't live here but return about 4-5 times at different times of the year
Awesome, both beaches are fabulous. Put a mask on and freak yourself out when you see the whole time you've been surrounded by 1,000 different fish, well some move in pools. Only once did I bring the frozen bag of peas. I was trapped and more were coming so I threw the peas as far as I could and swam the other way. lol. Good times.
@@laura-bronner yes, but, Flora has become very touristy and now the food quality has diminished. You definitely should go to Los Tamarindos, the original farm-to-table restaurant that has far superior tasting food. But Flora is worth going to just to see the whole operation, very impressive. Also, next door is Acre, another very impressive place visually with just okay food relative to the superior instagram-worthy grounds it sits on.
Glad you are spending t[me in San Jose, a beautiful older town than San Lucas. I live in La Ribera, a little town on the road to Cabo Pulmo. I have good friends who run the Dive Station, snorkeling and scuba diving in Pulmo. I would love to see you when you drive through.
Go check out El Fish & Grill right across from Royal Solaris in the the little designer strip mall. Amazing fish tacos and the best Steak I have ever had in my life. Every time I'm in San Jose we go
I find that FB marketplace has great listings, especially the all-Spanish ads with the price listed in pesos. I also saw many places with signs out whilst walking and exploring to get a feel of different neighbourhoods: if you strike a conversation with the owner of the corner panaderia and mention you’re looking, she might very well know neighbours interested in renting - I know of a few ladies who did just that when they spotted a place which had been empty for a while and asked around. Someone died and nobody thought about renting out the house, they were happy to find someone. The other house was sitting empty while it was on sale, she lived there renting for half a year and ended up buying it at a very good price because she got along so well with her neighbours and the daughter of the owners. I can’t recommend learning Spanish enough, it really opens doors! 🤗🇲🇽
Hello!!! You are 5 steps ahead of me! I have a very similar story. Live in L.A. We just rented a gem a block from the beach, next door to La Comer shopping center. Must go to La Ramona, Armida, the owner girl boss, is fun. Look forward to running into you. I have a great group of fellow USA women living in San Jose, a couple trying to figure out where they love it more:La Paz, Todo Santos, Cabo San Lucas, San Jose, in between???? Personally, I love San Jose. Cheers Belén
Welcome to the neighborhood :) I second a lot of the recs in the comments, like hangman, saturday mercado organico, flora farms. You mentioned liking fish tacos, and one of my favorites is pulpo macho - Emilio makes the best seafood tacos, it's kind of in the parking lot just before the entrance to the mercado organico. Also the taco spot behind La Comer is great. There are a ton of good places to check out, and I'm glad you're already exploring places like Santiago, you're doing it right :)
It's high on my priority list! I've had a few of their beers by the bottle while we were in Todos Santos, so looking forward to being able to try them on draft!
Ahh, I miss my home away from home. Hopefully I can get back down there soon. Its been awhile but check out the waterfall/swimming hole in Santiago called Sol de Mayo. Nice little day trip.
Baja is actually much drier than Cancun for 3/4 of the year. This is the hottest time of year almost everywhere in Mexico (except the central region where it's cool and rainy).
I spent a month in sjdc and my two favorite restaurants were lupita and choriarte. also, el jardin secreto is a lovely place for a drink. all in el Centro
Yea - the person renting you the apartment is usually offering that discount, not Airbnb. The fees for Airbnb remain roughly the same (still about $150 overall for a month's stay).
You will need a mountain bike since near your department there a lot of sites to see, for example the Marina at Puerto Los Cabos there are a great beach area there, also there a nice place Floras Farm its a expensive breakfast buffet but very good and healthy, also you can visit the part of San Jose Viejo, whre most local live and there are local restaurant with local prices, and near your department near Tacos el Paisa there is Toro Güero a Sea Food place Mazatlan Style with good prices and excelent food, in San Jose near the Telmex buildng there a Mexican resturant and the Municipal Marker where locals buy fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables and in front of the market you can buy freshly made flour tortillas, I miss San Jose del Cabo.
Great videos of Baja California Sur. Would greatly appreciate videos of the East Cape and any of the surfing spots in that area like Shipwrecks. Thanks!
It got my attention when you said the internet is rapid. 😂 The tax for Airbnb in Mexico is crazy now. Just happened a few months ago. I just book airbnb for a week then deal with the landlord if I find he is trustable.
I’m thinking seriously about going to Mexico Jan 2022 for 1-3 months my daughter will be traveling with me she works from home I would like someplace close to beach & lots of places to ride bikes I have ms and would really like to see if it helps my mobility for the winter Thank you Cindy
There’s a reason Sammy Hagar wrote a song about Cabo and bought a house there. 🥰. Two of my favorite restaurants in San Lucas are Mi Casa and Romeo y Julieta 😋
I was told about "private party" for Sammy's birthday and it cost 30 pesos to get in which included dinner [mahi mahi or steak], and 2 drinks. What a night. Rockin. The story of the federales that pulled me over with 8 people in my 2 door T-Bird that I was giving a ride home is another good one.
I meant a ride home from this party. When my friend, Satellite Steve met me back at my car there were 6 people, young with him, that asked if I could give them a ride back to San Jose. "Sure, but there's only 3 seat belts in back" "Don't worry about seat belts in Mexico. We'll just sit on top of each other" I ran red the one street light out of Cabo and get pulled over. He was not interested in my proof of license, ins, & registration or seat belts per person. He talked so fast I didn't understand and one guy from the back says, "I know Spanish, he wants money" We all instantly dive into our pockets and come up coins and lint. We were scared. He takes what we have and--I understood this sentence--:This is not even enough to buy me a good dinner" and then, "Just get out of here you pathetic Americans" Whew!! We're clear and out and that was one great party!!!!!!
I think the pandemic is affecting the cost of things. Travel is down and extra cost for the extra cleaning to be in compliance. They are passing those costs on to the consumer. Remember you get what you pay for. Your lucky to be living there!
Hola Laura, I watched your Todos Santos videos last week, soooo- automatically Google brought me here today! lol Muy bien! You are very well prepared! Having lived all over Mexico before I settled in Vegas '82, I find your videos more accurate than most! Buenas suerte to you both! I hope to be there for my cumpleanos- 4/20, como no? lol My biz partner was the NOTARIO for Cabo.
Love it there! I'm thinking about living there once my lease is up in Los Barriles. Can't wait to hear your video for finding places to live. We ate at a French restaurant in old historic neighborhood. They had the best crepes! 😋
Maybe you would love to live in San Jose visit el Mercado in el corredor to San Lucas you will se Cabo Surf there is a Beach for surfing and go to "Acapulquito" is how locals call the mirador , go to Chedraui Selecto Food Market if you need grocerys and prepared food to go
Looks nice, but a bit dead. I'm retired here in Cuernavaca Mexico. Looks touristy, I've been to Thailand and to me it's more interesting. I'm thinking I'd rather be in Thailand, Vietnam, Phillipines, or the French Riviera.

I can’t recommend learning Spanish enough, it really opens doors! 🤗🇲🇽
Make sure you eat at La Heradera for their mocajetes. Great food great people!
Check out the restaurant French Riviera. Had an excellent breakfast there and my mom picked up several chocolate truffles to go.
Hey next walk, for a good coffee try El Wine shop, at Transpeninsular close to la Mega, great coffee and wine! Welcome to SJD!
Thanks for the tip! Will add it to my list, we were just near there when we went to Las Palmas beach!
Check out the 'Farmer's Market' just behind San Jose, off a side road!?
Cheers
Belén
Thanks for giving us this rental information will be looking forward to your video about rentals Thanks again I' m on a budget too
Welcome to the neighborhood :) I second a lot of the recs in the comments, like hangman, saturday mercado organico, flora farms.
Great news I'm looking happy to hear you moved there and am looking forward to watching your food and scenery videos Darl xo From Australia
Thanks! Looking forward to sharing it all!
Go to the Baja Brewing Co. there in San Jose. Great place.
It's high on my priority list! I've had a few of their beers by the bottle while we were in Todos Santos, so looking forward to being able to try them on draft!
Thanks for the great content. Going to be headed to San Jose del Cabo in two weeks so looking forward to hearing about your favorite finds!
Awesome! I’ll definitely be sharing what I find!
Ahh, I miss my home away from home. Hopefully I can get back down there soon. Its been awhile but check out the waterfall/swimming hole in Santiago called Sol de Mayo. Nice little day trip.
I grew up in cabo i move to Salinas ca in 1992. I really enjoyed you videos and hope to back there soon. Thanks for sharing Laura
Thanks so much Luis! Hope you can get back here soon too, it's such a beautiful part of the world :)
I'm arriving there this week for a month. But, it's just too hot and humid like Cancun that I couldn't live at any of the beach town areas in Mexico.
If you rent for a month or more, AirBnb gives big discounts, often 50%
I love San Jose Del cabo. Awesome town and great fishing. Check out las cazuelos Del don. Little restaurant well worth it.
Did some fishing out of SJ. Panga boat. Catch and cook! 🐸
I will be visiting in a week!
I loved Las Cazuelas del Don and Las Guacamayas (the stone bowls were really good).
Thanks so much, will add them to our list!
I found your channel last week and I’m loving your videos! Looks so beautiful there. 😊
So glad you’re enjoying them! Thanks for taking the time to comment 😊
Good clip , look forward to your apartment finds. Los Barillos is worth checking out up along the other coast.
Thanks! Los Barriles is definitely on the list!

Oooh I’ll be in Los cabos in a week .. and sure we will be in San Jose del Cabo for a day or two !! ASI y asado is great taco place in Cabo
I am envious and you're going to have so much fun.
I just found your page - sooo great! I definitely want to learn more !

Guacamayas restaurante. Our favorite!
I’m thinking seriously about going to Mexico Jan 2022 for 1-3 months my daughter will be traveling with me she works from home I would like someplace close to beach & lots of places to ride bikes I have ms and would really like to see if it helps my mobility for the winter
Thank you Cindy
There’s a reason Sammy Hagar wrote a song about Cabo and bought a house there. 🥰. Two of my favorite restaurants in San Lucas are Mi Casa and Romeo y Julieta 😋
I was told about "private party" for Sammy's birthday and it cost 30 pesos to get in which included dinner [mahi mahi or steak], and 2 drinks. What a night. Rockin. The story of the federales that pulled me over with 8 people in my 2 door T-Bird that I was giving a ride home is another good one.
@@kirstenvogel9620 I’ve gone to two birthday bashes. He knows how to throw a party 🎊
I meant a ride home from this party. When my friend, Satellite Steve met me back at my car there were 6 people, young with him, that asked if I could give them a ride back to San Jose.
"Sure, but there's only 3 seat belts in back"
"Don't worry about seat belts in Mexico. We'll just sit on top of each other"
I ran red the one street light out of Cabo and get pulled over. He was not interested in my proof of license, ins, & registration or seat belts per person. He talked so fast I didn't understand and one guy from the back says, "I know Spanish, he wants money" We all instantly dive into our pockets and come up coins and lint. We were scared. He takes what we have and--I understood this sentence--:This is not even enough to buy me a good dinner" and then, "Just get out of here you pathetic Americans"
Whew!!
Thanks so much Daniel, glad you’ve been enjoying the videos and that Google keeps bringing you back for more! 😂
Love it there! I'm thinking about living there once my lease is up in Los Barriles. Can't wait to hear your video for finding places to live. We ate at a French restaurant in old historic neighborhood. They had the best crepes! 😋
I love Las Barriles, one of my favorite stops on one on my many trips from San Jose Ca to Cabo San Lucas.
Maybe you would love to live in San Jose visit el Mercado in el corredor to San Lucas you will se Cabo Surf there is a Beach for surfing and go to "Acapulquito" is how locals call the mirador , go to Chedraui Selecto Food Market if you need grocerys and prepared food to go
Thanks for the tips!
I need to go back and visit San Jose del Cabo
It’s so beautiful. I’ll definitely be sharing more about it while we’re here!
Also Club la Costa in San Jose
Nice video, enjoy yourself out there. I have been out there the Marlin is great.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this place thru your lenses..of all the vids of MX I've watched, I don't recall any about that area.
Cool I’m excited to share it with you in the coming weeks!
looks great
You might be able to dive with hammerhead sharks this time of year ...
I'm curious to see some of the local hiking.
Looks nice, but a bit dead. I'm retired here in Cuernavaca Mexico. Looks touristy, I've been to Thailand and to me it's more interesting. I'm thinking I'd rather be in Thailand, Vietnam, Phillipines, or the French Riviera.
