@@Viewtoagrill Actually, like most of my favorite channels - be it cooking, martial arts, repair, guns, motorcycles, politics - your utterly DOWN TO EARTH attitude is very welcoming. Many of the smaller BBQ channels are the best because the people are not showing off, or sitting with $40,000 worth of equipment, but working with regular Webers or other devices within the reach of most people; just regular guys and some gals doing something they love and sharing. Keep up the good work. I sent your channel out to a bunch of grilling friends because you deserve a lot LOT more subs!
Gotta say I do love my INKBIRD ibbq 4t. I’ve used it just about everytime after jumping into this hobby and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have a master touch and man it’s made some damn good food so far! Thanks for the content man this is one of the main channels I use when helping me learn to make stuff.
very solid review Johnny! I also received one and I am very impressed with it. The graph alone is something I am going to use a lot. I am curious to that silicon holder you use though, I dig that it holds it parallel to the grates!
That little red holder is actually a thermometer holder you would hang on the inside of a pot so the tip of the thermometer would be in whatever liquid is in the pot. I got it hoping it would be wide enough to sit on the grill grates... and it was! It frees up a few precious inches on the grill so the thermometer is out of the way. Works out nice.
Thanks, SoM, Just ordered it with a big discount. Can't wait for the INKBIRD thermometer, since it is compatible with 5G and 2.4G wifi, also supports Bluetooth connection.
Hello. Very good video, congratulations. I am looking for a thermometer like this, but I want to ask you: Can any of the probes that are included be used to measure the ambient temperature, without being damaged? Thank you.
@@Viewtoagrill Understandable. I've only used the Maverick a couple years. It seems to work extremely well for me. I rely on people who' are much more well versed than I. I've had a WSM 18.5" over 20years and really got into this whole smoking thing about 4 years ago. I really like watching your videos as you invariably use the same identical Performer That I just got. Your tips have really helped me improve my skills. Thank you.
I bought this after watching your great video . Do you know if there is a way to configure the app to notify you alerts when the phone is locked or the app is in the background? I get alerts when the phone is unlocked and the app is in the foreground, but not otherwise. Thanks !
If you have an iPhone... go to your iPhone settings, find INKBIRD, select notificationsCheck all three.... Lock Screen, Notification Center and Banners.... the toggle should be Allow Notifications.
I just bought the Inkbird IBT-4XS based on your recommendation Johnny & I love it, I'm actually doing my first pork butt this coming Monday so this was a great watch. What is that orange thing you have the probe resting on?
The IBT-4XS is a really nice thermometer as well. The orange thing is a thermometer holder meant for candy thermometers that you would hang on the inside of a pot with the end of the thermometer in the liquid. It is wide enought to sit on top of the grill grates without falling through. I like it because it frees up a few inches of space for the protein without being in the way. I have the link in the description .. I think I call red thermometer holder... something like that.
Johnny, does the app work from anywhere in the world? Like if you have that pork butt on, and you need to run to Harbor Freight, can you check your temps on your phone while you're at the store?
Dang! I got a huge discount on Amazon, snagged one for 58 bucks total with same day delivery! Half price basically and I'm doing a pork butt this weekend!
Hello Bree. I show the unit and the app in the same frame side by side so viewers can see the update on the phone happens quickly. I am not sure how showing actual clear footage of the update happening is misinformation. Hopefully you find a thermometer that suits your needs.
I am an IT Admin. I promise that the frequency of the wifi has nothing to do with the improved response of the readout on the phone. Happy improvement in programming. An unfair example is when you tune in higher frequencies on your radio you don't get the music faster. Side note we did order this one thanks to your review. Just wanted people to know that the wifi frequency did not change the latency of the readout. It's unrelated.
This is a terrific channel. Johnny’s reviews and recipes are clear, succinct, informative and well-thought out.
Thanks SoM. I appreciate that and agree 100%... and I will add charming personality.

Hello Mr. Monster. Thanks. INKBIRD really does make a great product for what you pay.
Great job with showing off the new Thermometer!
Thanks Dash!

Thanks Johnny for the review just picked one up from Amazon. Doing my first low and slow on the kettle this weekend. Learning alot from your channel.
Awesome! Let me know how your cook turns out. Please be patient on your cook... don't take it off too soon, and start earlier than you think you need.
Johnny is very thorough on bbq. I enjoy his videos. 👍
Thanks John.
This 5G thermometer from INKBIRD is a different winner just like everything else I have from them 🙌🙌🙌 great video!
Thanks Rusty!

Great price right now. Take care.
That was literally a master class! Great video vato!
Thanks bro. Good seeing you.
Great review. Lots of information and great tips. Keep it up

Hello vrisom,
Yes, they all can be used as an ambient temperature thermometer.
How would compare the Bird compared to the Maverick?
John, I have not owned a Maverick in years. I would not be able to answer that question accurately.

Yes. I actually went to lunch at a restaurant abut 10 miles away. As long as you have the WiFi set up and you don’t lose connection you are good.
Do you still use the meater+??
Yes. And I still love it.

That's a pretty sweet thermometer, Johnny! And that pork butt came out looking soooo good! 😋👍
Thanks Kevin.
6:30 The fact that it can do 5ghz and not limited to 2.4ghz has nothing to do with how responsive the phone app is. Misinformation.
