I'm grateful to have seen McCoy Tyner at the Catalina Bar and Grill in Los Angeles in 1997 for two sets. All of these band members were there. The best day of my lifetime! ❤️🎹🎶
Yes he is. I remember when McCoy Tyner came to Detroit. This trio came on the top of the Pontchartrain Hotel. The year was 1989. This video doesn't capture the power of McCoy Tyner's sound, The tightness of the band and his incredible vocabulary. I promise you that the concert that night was the best on earth. Any Jazz pianist in history that came on after him would have sounded timid in comparison. His power was unbelievable. I'm the age now he was then. 51 years old.
Une rythmique d'enfer ! Un rêve éveillé où l'on ne peut dormir...
RIP McCoy Tyner. Legend. The best. 🙏

WOW! Just wow! And McCoy did it his way. He didn't copy Monk although, i love Monks version! RIP my Pennsylvania brother!
Actually not even MCCoy like on solo…interesting …he went chordal funk …none of his normal patented crazy rh pentatonics
@@jayclarke9611I agree, I found it reminiscent of Gene Harris, it didn’t shout McCoy. Still great regardless.
Where is Aron Scott these days? What a brilliant drummer
