Definition of a real Cowgirl: “so what if I hurt myself, these chores need to be done!” I hope your ankle is feeling better. We all hate when an injury causes us to change our training schedule.
Yup. Had food poisoning during lambing. Timed the vomiting so I could get to the barn and back. But then, there are always buckets. What needs doing needs doing.
Everything, including injuries and illness, happens for a reason. Sometimes for more than one reason. It's usually a need for rest and introspection.
Add in that she has medical background and well … self diagnosing and delays of care are the result.
While healthy ppl in towns living on welfare, foodstamps and housing in their filthy homes.
How about Aladin
"Sterling" as in "silver," as a poster already said: the horse is really pretty and seems really good natured. A gem! May you heal quickly and fully!
Oh I really really like that name for him! It’s so perfect!!
Yes me too I like that name for him it's perfect
That one is great! And he seems like a distinguished gentleman and Sterling seems to match that.
Awesome name suggestion!!
Agree with the rest, Sterling fits him pretty well.
I had a colleague years ago, when I was working in Asia, a lovely Arab man, very calm and competent and a good soul. His name was Rafi, which means "noble" and may be a good name for your lovely new Arab man.
And please take good care of you!
Maybe you won't believe it, but I thought of Rafi also. But then I forgot. So now someone else thankfully (?) thought of it.
I like it! No more than two syllables or it takes all day to call em...😁
I did too!
Sorry, when I hear Rafi I think of the guy who sang children’s’ songs.
I agree. Your neighbors horse is living the good life. Well fed and free as a bird..
I’m surprised commenters were concerned about her, she looks so healthy!
I could envy her that!! 😁
@@Groundedsquirrel She does.
Also don't be dumb when you get injured. They come back to haunt you years later. I speak from experience.
@@Trex955 WTF are you talking about ??
That mare looks great for 30.
@@bwenluck9812the neighbor's horse
@@patriciaboies8298 Still that mare looks great for 30 whether she's owned by CC or not.
If you don't care for yourself first.....who will look after all your chores? Who will love your critters? Look out for yourself girl! ❤
30 year old mare and acting like "girls gone wild" when your guy showed up. Impressive!
Watching your videos has pulled me out of the purple funk that I’ve been in for quite a little while. I think I’m probably not the only one who has gotten disheartened with the world and the situation we’ve all been in these past several years. It just seems like there are so many more greedy, selfish, uncaring people in the world. Watching you as you stay focused on your goal in life, doing wonderful things for creatures, hearing how you speak so gently to your animals and how sensitive you are to their needs on a daily basis has really raised my spirits and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Thank you for doing what you’re doing and being who you are.
Ditto!
Me too ❤
Yep!
Same. And so well put -- thank you for sharing 😊
Merlin! He looks like a magical unicorn or Pegasus. He needs a magical name.
I really like Merlin!
Lol I thought that too then read your comment
I love Merlin
Haha the first name that came to my mind was Arthur since the little pal is so brave, but Merlin would fit him too honestly 😊
Yes! i was just about to comment Merlin or Arthur or any of the knights
‘Gallant’ seems like a name the old gentle horse could be called
I learned on a white POA named Sir Galahad, Gallie for short . He was a Knight of the Round Table.
I like that name.
@@karenparliament3327 Thank you 😊
Love it
@@kimcentofanti2694 Thank you 😊
Don't have an amazing suggestion on a name. Back in the'80s I actually ended up with a 7 year old gray Arab gelding, being "gifted" with one by a friend who actually thought my life was not complete without a gray Arab gelding. She had fallen on hard times and needed a place to keep her horse. He morphed into mine. After we got him we were calling him "the gray horse" because he was the only gray horse on the property. It stuck. His name with us became "Gray Horse" and that was it for the rest of his life.
He strikes me as a Mercury. Messenger from the gods, his coat has a silvery tint and he'll help you take Skeletor's temperature. I'm glad you sought medical help. The pain level, awful crack when you twisted it, the swelling and previous injury are all red flags to get it checked.
Ooh I like that name.
Gandalf would be a good name for him. Grey and wise. And you will soon be amazed at his ability to do the unexpected.
THIS is so fitting. Some excellent Gandalf quotes:
“It is not despair, for despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt. We do not.”
“I was talking aloud to myself. A habit of the old: they choose the wisest person present to speak to.”
“He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom.”
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.”
“To me it would not seem that a Steward who faithfully surrenders his charge is diminished in love or in honour.”
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
And a bunch of others from the Grey Wizard via JRR Tolkien
@@rwhite2345 I read The Lord of the Rings in 7th grade. My English teacher said why are you reading that. That's college required. I said. Because it's good. Lol. This was in the late 60s
Gandalf's a great name. Love it. 🇦🇺😁
Beat me to it!
@@barbrice721 Now there are whole college classes not just requiring it, but analyzing Tolkien, and Tolkien-specific scholars!
But I’ll admit the original quote I thought of that made me reply to the Gandalf suggestion was, “Fool of a Took!” Because if Skeletor was any LOTR character, IMO he would be Pippin (Peregrin Took, for the uninitiated). He has that energy!
I love the name Zayn. It's an Arabic boys’ name meaning “beauty” or “grace”. Hope you feel better!
That's a pretty name for him.
Nice!
I was moaning and rolling on the ground, but I crawled to the truck because I hadn't fed the horses yet. Spoken like a true horsewoman. Hope your leg feels better soon.
Hello, I just came up with a new name for our new boy. It's Spirit! Because he shows a lot of goodness and spunk. Horses in his line of work can tend to come out with a depressed and sour attitude but not him! He has that gossamer kind of look to him too!
Oh just wait on the naming. This boy will do something that will name himself. He is a nice looking Arab & yes they take a while to warm up.
I agree with you. Wait on a name. He will name himself
I just realized that since he’s hopefully going to be hanging out with Skeletor, maybe he needs to be called He-Man! :D
I like it!
Yes!
Yes!!!
Hahahaha He-Man that’s perfect!!! 🤣
Plus, side note there’s a “Studman”…..
Haha that would be funny, however might want to save that for a big buff horse, LOL!

You could do some shorts reviewing past videos, past reminders. You better take care of yourself. You know, when the oxygen mast come down and your hold a baby in your seat on the plance, put your mask on first so you can be of use to child……….ankle is tough. Sorry that’s where your issue resides. Love your channel, do your best to help yourself, so you can keep us informed. Love ya!
I’m not a horse person, but I do know the Lone Ranger named his horse “Silver”. I think the name works for this guy. I’m in my70’s and grew up playing cowboys-indians (and Davy Crocket). I had a friend in Fairbanks who helped me overcome fear of horses. She had a couple, talk about freezing water…i actually learned to ride her oldest mare. I admire your skill and knowledge. So show us your horse sense about taking care of your ankle! Hugs.❤❤❤
@@miric6224 "Hi ho Silver" came to mind when someone suggested Sterling!
@@miric6224 I also thought of the name, 'Silver' - especially when there was a close up of his mane and tail!
The 30 year horse looks amazing.
I am glad your husband is looking at property. I thought it was sort of funny that one of the incentives of going to the doctor was what he would think if you didn’t.
For real! I used to do that when I was younger and had horses. 😅
My friend & I grew up with horses & we both agree that with all the utube shows we watch yours is the one we love the most. We love how. knowledgeable you are .we both hope & pray your ankle is fine. You're amazing . Please take good care of yourself. It seems like you're the only one for these horses. God bless
Hairline fractures usually are hard to see when fresh. They often aren't visible until they start to heal, ironically. I hope it heals quickly!
Just had another avulsion fracture. I am older, but all the body stresses of horse ownership started in my 50’s and now at 68, I am paying the piper, lol.
@@terrifiorelli9819 Me too. And I wouldn't change a thing. Although it would be wonderful if I had the energy I had when I was in my 40's...
Bone scan. It will see hairline fractures that regular x-ray miss.
I'm glad you have someone to have a look at you every now and again, and save you from being too tough for your own good !
I am an X-ray tech and that tibial fix you had was one I don’t see often. You poor girl.
“Calm”. One of the reasons I left a metro area decades ago was my search for a calm environment. I think we all crave Calm, & that’s one of the reasons we love you and the way you take care of your horses. So heart warming to know their trauma is over.
Casper (the friendly ghost)
I'm surprised the neighbors horse is 30. She looks great, she's calm & has a shiny coat. I'm also happy they didn't have to cut your boot off. Sprains hurt more than breaks. Take CARE of yourself!
The new guy is quite handsome. Can’t wait to see him shed out. Thanks for sharing.
So sorry that you are hurting. You are really one tough lady! You remind me of my late husband's work ethic. He had same day surgery to remove a large kidney stone he was unable to finish passing. As I drove him home, it stopped snowing. Instead of coming into the house with me, he climbed into his truck, lifted the plow, and went off to take care of his customers' driveways. Ten hours later he finally got back and let me pamper him (that is, after I voiced my opinion in a loud manner). God, I miss him! ❤😢
America runs on these good guys, same as mine.
Maybe the Horse Person has a little gremlin in the back of their mind telling them that the money they would spend on the doctor would be better spent on the Vet or more mash for the horse!
Thank you for showing others what a real warrior does even when you're in pain. You're one tough cookie.
Storm would be a good name. For some reason he reminds me of the sky when a storm is going to come.
Take care of yourself.
As for a name. I would wait for his personality to come out… maybe he will name himself.
i think that sounds like good advice
Sorry about your ankle. That’s frightening.
I think Galahad is a great name for the new horse.
Sir Galahad ❤
I was thinking Sir Galahad!!
I was thinking along the same lines... one of the Knights of the Round Table. I was thinking Percival. Percy for short, of course. 😊
Upvoting for Galahad....I was thinking Percival too but I like Galahad better.
That chestnut mare is adorable you couldn't begrudge her a few mouthfuls of alfalfa 🥰
That horse that is 30yrs old looks amazing doesn't even looks old. She isn't neglected.
Oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear about your accident with your leg! This is so unfortunate and untimely for you. Your strength, determination, and dedication to your horses is so much a part of your character that you don't even allow something as horrific as a broken bone to stop you from your duties!! C!ever Cowgirl, you truly show us it takes alot of inner strength to be doing all that you do, and now when you're suffering from a terribly painful injury besides. You pushed forward, ignoring your own discomfort, and put your responsibilities first. As Women, I think I can speak for us and say, " we admire and respect you." One never knows when something unexpected can come calling. Sometimes life really tests us. It can make us tired and discouraged. So we need to see around the problem. Eyes focused upwards. I see a lovely neighbor' s horse who comes to visit. I see another lovely horse that is calm, and adapting to their new surroundings, and then I see a lovely Clever Cowgirl, who truly has a warrior's heart of gold. I am not the only one who sees. God bless you and keeping you my prayers.
Animals that have been moved around a lot sometimes do seem numb to their surroundings. I'm sure this guy, once he realizes he's home, will come around! Gandalf the Gray!
That ~30 yo horse looks amazing, hope your leg is ok girl ❤
Oh man….good lord girl!!!! Sending you healing vibes! Get better asap!!!!!
5:37 she is in AMAZING condition for her age. I have a 28yo paint horse and she is living her best life ❤

A rare commodity! Novel turds 😆
I simply adore your videos ❤ I follow a lot of channels but your videos are the ones I look forward to the most. Love from Denmark 🇩🇰
Thank you so much!!
Oh no, so sorry to hear about your ankle. Hopefully you only over stretched it and that it is not broken. Wishing for a speedy recovery. Keep us updated on the ankle and the new guy.
Like the rest of us, we take care of our babies before ourselves. Please take care of yourself.
It's hilarious, that the only reason you took yourself to the urgent care, is threat of a grumpy husband; good job husband! Horse ladies are crazy! lol Hope the ankle heals quickly and completely. Do you have back up? Just in case something were to happen? Hope you and hubby find the perfect place to buy. Don't worry about the upload schedule, just take good care of you and heal.
Good to note, sometimes fractures cannot be seen on X-rays until a week later. If the radiologist doesn’t see anything and you are still very painful a week later, might be a good idea to go get more X-rays. Feel better! ❤️
That happened to me with my ankle. Went in just got it wrapped, went back in a week later, yep broken.
Name him Nuzzle. He’ll live up to it.
Take it easy on the leg. The biggest fear of animal lovers and carers is “what if I can’t do it?”
Hope you are feeling better, sweetheart! Watched the whole episode. Caring for horses while in pain is the dedication.

Haha. I thought that too.
When I first saw your new guy, the name Smokey Joe popped into my mind. You could always call him Joe Joe for short. I hope your leg is okay. When I was a teenager, I broke my foot, and I walked off on it. My parents didn’t take me to the hospital for x-rays because I walked to my friend’s house. We didn’t have urgent care in the 1960s. I discovered it had been broken when I broke it again in my 20’s. Women are tough beasts.

@@Korina42 Yeah, I crushed my foot over 35 years ago. Had a horse throw me, I landed underneath and she crushed it sideways before she ran away. All soft tissue and it still bothers me some if I walk †oo much or climb ladders and then stand on the narrow steps for too long. But it could have been much worse. She could have landed on my chest or head and I would have been a goner for sure.

So funny Huckleberry is acting like it’s the last horse turd he will get to eat.
“FITZ” because he just fits into your family.
I broke my ankle in March of 2020, the COVID year. Slipped going downhill when I stepped on a hose that was under the snow; my foot lodged behind a grass clump, but I kept hurtling past and the rest is history. I limped inside and took off MY muck boot right away or it would've had to be cut off. Didn't go to the doctor--because like I said, COVID--and just taped and wrapped it. It happened on March 14, which was a Saturday, so it was the day between Friday the 13th and the Ides of March. I should have known.
I kept on doing my chores every day, hobbling out to the barn to feed horses and collect the manure, keep the water filled and so on. I finally had it x-rayed four months later (yes, four months) just to make sure it had healed properly. Turns out I'd broken it in three places, although nothing was displaced. It's all fine now, but I can tell you for sure that I'm extra, extra careful on hills when it's slippery. I don't have a back-up helper available, so being out of commission for several weeks is a sobering thought.
Love the new guy! He’s so sweet and handsome! He needs a gentleman’s name. So thankful (and hopeful) you didn’t break your ankle. Praying you recover quickly. 💕
Name “Samir” meaning a friend to talk with in the evening. Arabic word. This, according to the internet anyway.
"I hadn't fed my horses yet so I crawled to my truck...." Love your dry sense of humor! So sorry you got hurt. Hope it is getting better.🎉

I like the suggestions made of "Gandalf," "Merlin," or "Ghost."
Hehe Skeletor and Ghost 👻
Ghost is cute!!
I really enjoy your videos. I am a horse person and have been my entire life. Also, I would like to say that you are a truly good hearted person. Your animals are lucky to have you as their owner.
I am so sorry to hear that you hurt yourself; it was nice to know that Huckleberry comforted you while you hobbled around! I am encouraged to hear you say that you're going to go get it checked out...
I hope your ankle feels better real soon 💐
As for a name, for your new horse, my choice is "Freckles". He has been through a rough patch and I hope his name will be cheerful ❣️
Romeo. He looks like a lover at least the mare thinks so.
Oh yes! A classic!
He sure looks like a "Cherokee" or "Apache" to me. And good lord take care of yourself; all your babies depend on you. I would suggest asking around if anybody has a teenage daughter who likes horses that might clean stables and do some chores for riding lessons...
Yeesss. Or Wichita. Like this Wichita Tribe.

I hope your enkel isn’t broken and it feels better soon.
The neighbors horse looks really well for her age, I had a lot of trouble keeping my own horse (that made it to almost 32 years old) on a good weight when she was around 30.
Here's hoping quick recovery.
I liked some of the names a lot. You've gotta see how he's gonna be after he starts being himself.
Girl, take care of your self! We love seeing you care for your horses being a hero. But...we enjoy you and want you healthy and happy to be able to keep going. Take care please. The horses that fall thru the cracks need your kind care!!
I love the way you give your horses simple names that seem to fit their place in life. As this new guy is intended to be a stable mate for Skeletor, I wouldn’t be able to resist calling him Buddy Boy.
Sooo glad you went to urgent care and took x-rays. Sending good wishes your way and keep us posted on both your foot and the new gray, P.S. The sorrel retiree looks amazing for 30 years old… anyone that has a 30-year-old horse still around, would be thrilled to have it look like this horse does…. Oh my goodness prayers to a speedy recovery I hope you get feeling better and I love the new horse
Gandalf for sure!! Whoever mentioned it first kudos, it suits him well.
Rest up that leg/ankle and take care of yourself. If you don't care for yourself, you can't take care of Huckleberry, Tiny or Feisty Nigel of the Man Bun, much less anyone else. Be well and all the good thoughts for your speedy recovery.
I like what you called him as you hobbled up - Buddy. With arthritis and old fractures I now work safer with a single point cane leaving me the other hand for pulling a wagon, not as Sharpe with a wheelbarrow. I get things done just slower. Suggestion for next spring with Nigel. Wash with a nice massage action, conditioner with dwell time and warm water rinse with just running hose and scrubby glove. If he is anything li,e my heavy double coated dog the dry brush out after may mean 1 day's work not 3. Please have an upended 5 gallon b7cket on either side of him and plunk your butt. Save your back working on the shorty "no legs" horse.
hang in there ccg … it’s hard to recovered 100% after a broken leg injury.. i had a major motorcycle accident and broken my pelvic and it took me a long time to recovery… it’s been 20yrs and i still need to take it easy… you’re truly blessed to be living like you do… if my kids weren’t allergic to horses i would buy a country property and adopt horses or rescue horses.
You are one tough gal! Tender heart, tough lady!!! ❤ Hope you are okay! 🙏😊
Hey, you are a GREAT SHOT, with those alfalfa wads!!!! Good thing, with that ankle injury... saves you some steps!!!! Hope it heals up soon. Be a good patient !! I like to get an idea of the new animal I get, to give them the right name, too. What a great guy!!!
Arabic for gray. The Arabic word ﺭَﻣَﺎﺩِﻱّ means gray. It is pronounced ramaadiyy.
OMGOSH as a surgical nurse I'm happy to hear that you got an xray. Go easy and get a brace to wear when you are working. Those ligaments take a few weeks to heal. So glad it's not broken. 😀
Charlie seems like a good name to me. Love your show and happy your leg is ok.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, but do take care of yourself!
Hey, I understand about not wanting to see the doctor. I'm in my 80s now, but I remember my grandpa telling me that he visited the HORSE DOCTOR, as he was smarter than people doctors......he did not ask his patients what was wrong! At the time, we were loaded up with cotton in the wagon, pulled by his 4 big mules, headed to the cotton gin. We left there with his big bag of cotton seeds for next year's crop.
Just enjoy your stories so very much!!! I hope you haven't hurt yourself too badly!
Horse people always keep going. I hope the X-rays return good news from the radiologist. Your new horse is looking really good. Be careful and be well!
