Name him Keeper.
And this horse has 'landed on his feet'.
thank goodness he has you looking out for him! Hope you are not limping for too long and am looking forward to the next video! Hang in there!
🎉SO MUCH TO DO JUST WONDERING. DONT YOU HAVE A FARM HELP?
A few years back now I answered an internet posting where a mom and her young daughter were camping and riding in Montana and were looking for somebody to show them some trails in NW Montana. I had them come down and stay at the fairgrounds where we have camper hookups and stalls for horses etc. and I took them out on some trails in the mountains behind my house. The little girl had a little grey Arab like this one that was hands down the BEST kids horse I have ever seen. You know what I do for a living so you know how many horses I see, and I am not kidding you that little Arab was amazing! Super gentle, very kind, always controlled himself and watched out for his rider etc. If my kids were still young I would have no problem snapping up an Arab with that kind of temperament in a heartbeat.
FWIW Bay and grey are hands down my two favorite horse colors. The only thing I dislike about greys is the propensity for melanomas.
I have meet some really cool arabians, all were excellent mounts for kiddos!
Bays and Greys are 1000/10. My heart horse is a bay, and the first horse I ever saw at my barn when I came in was a grey pony named Anna.
We have a spicy older Grey Arab mare. She has a few melanomas , we have our vet keep an eye on. My grandkids ride her every sat when we host Saddle up Saturday for them. We have 8 grandkids from 16 down to one year old. I make a huge crockpot of soup, a veggie tray and snacks . They all come over and ride our horses. We love it
Wouldn’t that be something if it were the same horse?
He's turning out to be such a sweet guy. He's lucky to have found you.
I suspect he decided he trusted her and felt like laying down knowing she was there to protect him, and then he had the other horse on the other side of him who was also signaling it was rest time, I think that's why he decided that was a good time to flop down for a bit.
We've had two grey horses and both had to be euthanised because of their melanomas. One was an older horse which we still rode, mostly me, because I was a kid. He was the first horse in my life who had to be put to sleep. A tumour up in his nose must've burst and bright red blood was coming out of his nose. I'll never forget that. The second horse was only fourteen when the mucus tissue of her anus was turning into a bunch of tumours, meaning they couldn't do their job to expel her poop. When the vet put the first round of sedatives, she came to me and put her head into my arms. If I can help it, I'd rather never own a grey horse in my life again. The irony is that I've started getting lessons again, and I'm riding a roan grey Criollo horse who reminds me of our second horse.
Hes an awesome senior guy ! So gentle and appreciative of your care, stands still for you, etc. very smart. Hope your ankle is healing. Rest it when you can with ice. 🐾
Oh! Senior feed? He’s going to look his full, glorious self with weight gain.
As a former professional Arabian trainer I think the new horse is so cute and very balanced confirmation. Can't wait to see how you like riding him.
He is very lucky you found him 😊
Don't sell yourself short. Frisco Bill is absolutely staying so hale and hearty due to YOU. After all, who has been providing all those interesting mares over the years?
What a beautiful, well-tempered horse! Hope your ankle heals soon. It’s so frustrating to have to accommodate an injury when you just want to get your work done!
he realized he had hit the jackpot 😂
I like this guy. He just seems to be very good natured.
Congratulations on 70K! You absolutely deserve it after all the work you have done for these horses. You'll be at 100K soon!
My grey had lots of melanomas, they were just managed.
Ditto.
I lost my 25 yr old thoroughbred who had melanomas that went internal. That’s not what caused the colic we lost him to, though. It was the strangulating lipomas.
@@JoC-mp6sf Please, what are strangulating lipomas?
@@bernadettecartin they’re fatty tumors that wrapped around his intestines. It’s not known what causes them.
@@JoC-mp6sf Okay, thanks for that info. I wonder if that's what eventually did my sister's excellent pony in. He was awesome, 13.2, beefy, very cobby. He was always very smeggy, even right after having his sheath cleaned. Eventually he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, and had the last four inches of his penis amputated. He did well after, she rode him for a few more years after that and retired him.
He'd colic once in a while throughout his life, but always mild. In the last year of his life, he colicked badly enough in early fall that it needed intensive treatment, not the bellyache that caused mild discomfort and passed. But he got through that. Then on New Year's morning of 2009, he colicked again, and my sister got the emergency vet out asap. I saw him first and told her, but had to be out all day into the evening for a job. The vet treated him and had to come back because he wasn't getting any better, and she left my sister with a really strong pain killer shot for later if needed. I got home later in the evening. It was bad. She eventually gave him that shot but it did nothing. We realized he was dying in agony. The vet was far enough away that if she could have come that second she wouldn't get there in time to put him down. It was the worst helpless feeling, I know many here have been there.
Anyway, my theory for years has been that maybe he also had tumors in his intestines, either spread from the squamous or just other cancers, that would periodically cause partial blockages that eventually passed until the last time. I don't know what vets knew about how to tell what kind of colic a horse had at that time, whether there have been advances in the past 15 years or if it hasn't changed. I wasn't there when the vet was out, so don't know what she told my sister about what she was finding or even if she could tell anything specific. Maybe he had what your horse had.
Frisco Bill looks better at 29 than many much younger horses that haven’t had the care that Friscoe has had, thanks to you.
That sweet boy strikes me as someone who has a lot of stories to tell. You can see the intelligence in his eyes. Can't wait to see how he fills out!
Oh no! Hopefully he will make a full recovery.
It's not like cancer in humans and is probably nothing to worry about. Most greys who get them just live with these little lumps and never have a problem, unless the lumps grow somewhere that interferes with saddling, or internally. My old horse (a grey Arab x, very like the horse in the video) had a few, and they never bothered him or needed any treatment. He died of quite unrelated problems.
Ok thx that’s good 😅
Hi Clever Cowgirl, me and my Mrs are loving your videos! The slow pace and your humor is so refreshing and watching them is a nice way to wind down in the evening. I think it’s a trend with slow paced videos with down to earth content as the world else seems to gone mad.
Here in Sweden a live stream of the yearly moose migration has been very popular for years now. They call it slow-tv and started 2019 with over 5 million watched hours. No comments, just several cameras that livestream where you can see mooses, reindeers, bears etc crossing rivers, searching for food and so on.
I don’t know if these streams are available outside of Sweden, but I think several other countries has shown interest. I know Germans are crazy about our mooses.
Have a great day everyone that follow this channel! 🇸🇪👋
I’ve known grays with it that still live a long time.
Me too!
What a difference in how Nigel looks now from when you brought him home. He's a little beauty !! I break open vitamin E capsules on wounds that have scabbed over. Seems to work well. Prevents itching and accelerates healing. Horses, dogs, humans, works on all. Use prior to suture removal and it will soften the area.
I am so glad you quarantine! I've seen strangles passed from a new horse put in without isolation first.
I have unfortunately been a part of controlling a few strangles outbreaks at boarding barns, what an absolute nightmare!
Get healed up soon CC! The sweet Arab gelding landed in a safe and loving place. Thanks for the update!
Oh CC! He's the CUTEST! He's PRECIOUS! That little dance trot-he's so graceful!🥰🐎❤ Even his tail is pretty! Thank Goddess the melanoma is treatable-HUGE relief!🙏🏽
What a sweetheart! I hope that melanoma isn't serious & he can live a full life. I can't wait to see what he looks like once you groom him & give him a bath.
He is so well behaved so far! Hoping Skeletor takes to him immediately! Get well!
He is a real nice guy!
@@TheCleverCowgirl
I can see that
.I want him!..but I know he has a job to do there and he will do it well.. companion is a serious "job"..my pony had that job for my Morab!

I also mention this to people on UA-cam. An easy way to support people, orgs and animals we like.
I'm glad you bid on him and got him. He seems like such a sweet boy and is lucky to have you as his new owner. I'm positive he'll be ok with you takng care of him. I'm sure you've had thousands of names for him but I think he looks like a Cody.
Lyme’s disease is in Montana. My daughter’s good friend suffered from it for years. Finally a doctor paid attention to her, got her treated, which was difficult for her. She is doing ok now, but my heart hurt while she was trying to get diagnosed and treated.
I love your new horse. He is a sweetheart. I really admire what you are doing for your beautiful herd.
I'm and old lady and what you call a "snow storm" my generation called a "snow fall". 😊 There were what we called' light snow falls and 'heavy snow falls',' windy' or 'calm' (for no wind or very little wind). The word "storm" was reserved for when you couldn't see three feet in front of you which we saw more than we would have liked. So when you say "snow storm" I am picturing "near zero visibility". To my surprise I could hardly see any snow at all. We'd call that "trying to snow". 😆😆😆 Glad the new fella is turning out to have only minor problems.
ditto from 🇨🇦
The light snows like this one we in Colorado call flurries.
@@alycewich4472 Yes very light flurries, Alaska we would say LOL
Cisco Bill looks incredible for his age! I would never have guessed 29 to look at him, Happy Birthday Mister! 💖💖
The new guy has the prettiest tail
Now listen up missy, if one of your lovely charges hurt their leg you would be resting them for six months and putting them on a special diet, so you make sure you take care of your own self just as well, we need the content!! [Goose is still my favourite by the way]
I watch a couple of the horse rescue sites and see this a lot. Glad you have him.
I get the impression that “NewGuy” loves your attention ❤
I read a quote about dealing with animals/pets that I'd like to share: 'I'm SOMEONE, not SOMETHING.' You totally get it ❤
CC, I can imagine you crawling to feed your herd before they would go hungry. It takes one to know one. I’ve done chores using a cane and taken a nebulizer to the barn during an asthma flare up but still did my chores. I’m proud of you for giving yourself a break. The new guy is in good hands, yours! I can’t settle on a name suggestion yet. Keep up your self care.🥰
My horses get enough turnout that I don;t know that they would benefit them very much, unless they were in training for something
He looks great for being 29. You must be doing everything right.❤
He’s looking far more relaxed and happy, starting realizing he’s safe and home! 💜💜💜
70K SUBSCRIBERS , YEAH !! 🎉🐎🎉🐎🎉🐎🎉CONGRATULATIONS!!
You have been working hard and now you have to pamper yourself and slow down a bit. Love your new horse. He's in the best hands possible. Sending lots of love to you and all your family ♥️♥️♥️
I am looking forward to getting out and riding this guy! Fun for both of us!
@@TheCleverCowgirl😊🐎
Greatful that the "bummer" will have to be monitored but more then likely it will not effect his senior quality years of life.
After just seeing him 'prancing' around his temporary pen, I'm voting for "Prancer"!🙋🏼♀️😉😂🥰😘
Still praying for a speedy recovery with your ankle!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
So happy he’ll be ok!
I've been thinking about you and the beautiful newcomer... Wishing you both speedy, easy recoveries. (That was written before I saw the video - I'm glad that the melanomas don't seem terribly threatening.) ♥
love the new guy:)
he looks happy
Sir Galahad ,because he's brave trustworthy and hard working
A Knight in shining armour ❤
I already love him so much! He is SUCH a catch and was SO lucky to have ended up in your care. ❤
"Guapo" the new horse is looking handsome
5:06 Classic Pete. He's my spirit horse of the bunch.
*"Euuwww hooman!"*
The name "Prince" comes to mind. He's so handsome and well-mannered, just a prince of a horse!
I hope you heal quickly, take care of yourself Lady.
I am so sorry to hear this CC. My horse has laminitis, I have lived in my barn for a week with her. She's better today than she was a week ago but I find it so hard to focus on the rest of my pack when one is in pain. Praying for both of us and our babies.
im so relieved that his melanoma is not serious...odd you would find it in a place were the sun doesn't really shine?? i hope his vet visit goes very well as he is such a great animal. nice he has a friend there with him. looking forward to seeing all the others especially Scarlett in the coming weeks months. take care so many are counting on you.. you are a very good guardian. thanks for the video!
That is actually a very common place for it! Since gray horses change color over time it is thought that their is a genetic component linked to cells turnover. Very interesting stuff! Unlike humans, sun exposure has not been shown to increase the risk in gray horses.
@@TheCleverCowgirl. This is very interesting. I am covered in ‘beauty spots’, ie moles. I understand melanomas in humans to be a Toe tag, so it is nice to know it is not so dangerous for horses.
Such a lovely older gent. He'll be a good ride when you're both ready.
Frisco Bill Happy Birthday!🥳🎂🥰
He looks like he's getting quite comfy !! Enjoying life now ❤
Love how new guy moves. That tail!
Frisco Bill looks great for being 29! The new horse has a super nice trot! I'm glad to hear the melanomas are small and now can be Vet monitored. We keep saying, 'the Arabian' or 'the new horse'. I can hardly wait for his name! Take care. 🐴❤ ps. I love it when you get out assembly directions and completely ignore them. lol
The Ghost is filling out nicely. Speedy recovery, kid
CC.....I am so deeply sorry for you both. All I can share is an elder human ginger I knew had them successfully treated through the years. Catch early is key and I'm learning that You are an eagle-eye cowgirl👁❣️👁
Thankfully in horses they are not nearly as aggressive as they are with humans
He's in very good hands😊
I just love the way you take care of your horses. No nonsense and educated… God bless you all. Sending you healing energy…
Take good care of yourself, proud of her new boy, 🚁 mama!
“A wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.”
Gandalf the Grey, LOTR, JRR Tolkien
Are you suggesting she name him Gandalf? Actually that would work well. If she's a Ringhead, she will understand.
I always thought Mithril would be the perfect name for a grey horse. It means "grey brilliance" in Elvish. And it is the most precious metal in Middle Earth. Perfect name for a grey heart horse.
@@bernadettecartin I totally agree - that 100% sounds like a name I would pick! However, in context, I’m trying to think of what would go with the rest of the herd - Nigel, Gus, Skeletor, Pete, Studman, etc - and I’m thinking that Gandalf is just more approachable? Could be Alf for short! I think Gandalf makes more sense with the Grey element, and the character/role match up, but I also feel like Merlin is in a similar vein. Not too pretentious, but still a character/role match.
But I would totally pick Mithril - I had no idea it had that meaning and it is a bada** name. Nice one!
@@rwhite2345 Yeah, I like Gandalf. I already knew of a horse named Gandalf and he wasn't even grey. But it's a good name for the reasons you said. I sort of "collect" names that would be good for this or that animal. Mithril was a name I was saving for a grey. We are Ringheads here. Had dogs Pippin then Merry. When I'm ready I want my next dog to be a female GSD and her name will be Eowyn. Currently just have two ponies, Bill and Strider.
@@bernadettecartin
🤩 I have 2 Pekin ducks named Mary and Pippin! There's also Mr. Gimli and Galadriel. 😅 Smaug the Red is our rooster.
I knew I was amongst friends here. ❤
I love the name Mithril, but Gandalf would also be great . . . 🤔 I like Merlin, too!
@@littleozarksfarmstead Hahaha my first ducks were Pekins, but that was when I was a kid and hadn't read LOTR yet. That's cute. What are Mr. Gimli and Galadriel? Smaug is the PERFECT name for a rooster if he's like so many of them.
I did have an Arab/Welsh stud I named Mithril. He was given to us . . .until the previous owner decided she wanted him back. It got ugly but wasn't worth my Dad having a heart attack so we didn't really fight to keep him. So I kind of used the name already. I know a Merlin now, an OTTB.
What a handsome horse! He doesn't know how lucky he is to have landed with you---but he'll find out. Take care of yourself as well as you do of your horses!
I broke my ankle two years and stepping down the wrong way is still an issue.I live on a farm so , like you, I work through the injuries but I have a number of aches and pains that are always with me. I'm so glad to hear you are taking breaks and icing your ankle. Sending you lots of love and big hugs,
This little horse is just the cutest thing ever! He's one lucky horse to be in your care. I'm sending prayers that your ankle will heal quickly. Feel better soon, OK?
Keeping fingers crossed for him....and you with all your hope's and dreams.🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎
Thank goodness your ankle is feeling a tad bit better!! Sad to hear about the new geldings melanoma hopefully he will do just fine with it! He has the best of the best taking care of him!
He is gorgeous, he is so sweet. I can’t wait to see him once he has had his first bath and I can’t wait to see what he is like in the company of other horses ❤
Frisco Bill is turning 29!! What a beautiful boy.
I woke up from the heat of a warmer Miami. Your comment on snow was my first spontanious smile today. 😅😊
love to watch his first groom with you!!
Same!
You take excellent care of your four-legged family members! I hope the new guy's vet visit goes well! I'm calling him Gandalf in my head, LOL! Take care of that injury! ❤
I am so in love with this guy.
Glad to hear that you are doing better. I think the new guy definitely likes you and is well on his to trusting you fully. I REALLY like him so I hope he will be ok. ❤
He's really sweet. Seems like he's pretty happy to see you as well.
Oh Yayyy! Thrilled to see this update! ❤
Happy Upcoming Birthday Frisco Bill!
So sorry about this ankle sprain CC.
I think the trimmed tail compliments the care being given to the Gray Horse. Looking forward to the vet visit and the dental update. I do so appreciate your taking in rescue horses and giving them the attention and care that they need to recover from past neglect.
He is so beautiful and elegant. I am glad he has you.
Glad you are taking care of your ankle. Your new horse is a very nice find 🩶
Jackpot-HeMan looks great. Glad you are so clever & found the melanomas.
Naturally you put the tarp on backwards! 😂
Thanks for acknowledging you don’t have a backup plan but you DO have a great community. And I’m glad you guys got the cameras. Allll good stuff.
Thanks for being so Real.
Another great video---thank you CC! I love his prancing gait too---reminded me of Nigel, only full size!
Thank you for the update. Take care of yourself, CC!
Glad you checked him for it, and then had your vet check him. Early care and detection is the best prevention
Love the new dude! Enjoyed the video. Take care of yourself! 👊😁
Good news and not unexpected news. Looks like he will shape up really nice with good diet and some extra care. I think you made a fantastic purchase for sight unseen. Also glad you are on the mend. Nothing is more frustrating than having plans in the works and then getting laid up. I sympathize! Take care with the ankle and look forward to more on the new horse. I’ve seen several good name suggestions in the comments. It will be interesting what will fit him. ❣
What a sweet face and temperament. How old is he? Doesn’t look fully grown. Loving encouragement, CC ,
He is 18! Arabs tend to have a more refined look to them, part of being built for endurance in the desert!
I am not a “horse person”; don’t get me wrong, I love horses but I have very limited experience with them. My aunt has owned horses for as long as I can remember and I’m almost 60. I’m drawn to your channel because I love your approach and the care that you show towards them. There are too many professionals out there that do not take that same care or have the needed patience with some horses.i love what you do and love seeing Huckleberry, Tiny, and now Regnar (sp?).
I hope that you feel better and heal soon! Sending love, prayers, and blessings from Michigan 💕
I am looking forward when he finally meets Skeletor. These two will make such a fantastic, most likely dynamic duo.
I'm really looking forward to this new horse meeting Skeletor! He's a lovely mover too. I'm so glad he found you, CC. 🐎🤍🐎
saw Nigel eating his lovely home made mash :P btw i hope your ankle is ok.
You seem to be a woman that is one of a kind.❤ How special are you! ❤❤❤
The new boy is really coming around and opening up.
Ice , ice , ice baby. That's what I do for my ankle when I have sprained it.
Hoping this is only a sprain. You seem to be doing alot yet. Old Gray seems to be feeling better and that is good.
How stunning is Primrose!!??? Shes absolutely gorgeous! Frisco Bill looks like a teenager at most! It is your incredible horse skills that keeps them all looking amazing ♥️♥️♥️
Hope the vet confirms that the melanomas are nothing to worry about ❤️ I still think the name Nimbus would suit him, but there are a lot of good suggestions ❤ thanks for the video! 😊
I truly like his construction. He looks like he will be a comfortable horse to ride.
Pete, Little Gus and Scarlett need you. I am grateful to you for working with them and sharing their stories and progress with us.
I hope your ankle heals quickly.
