    As a fellow GRYCP owner I really enjoyed your honest unbiased review and comparison with the GRC. I thought the extra weight would be noticed regardless of the extra power and you confirmed it.

    • @iamblamb501

      Hiya, as a guy that owns the GRC I feel like its only a problem because they put such a soft suspension on it. I get why they did it, but it's one of the first large upgrades I have planned because I feel like I'm leaving time on the track with the way it is now.

    • @GRfourfun

      @@iamblamb501 I hear you, I find the suspension on my Circuit Pack to be very well judged especially for our UK roads. It suits my purpose perfectly as an occasional track car and back road blaster.

    I would have absolutely jumped at the chance to do a day like this. Over the last few years I've been pouring over every bit of information on the GR line up and lusting after an 86 or a Supra. Just two weeks ago I took my 2013 GT86 I owned from day one and traded up to the manual Supra! Cannot get enough of these cars and I'm grateful we have Toyota putting so much effort into the swansong of performance petrol cars, they are absolutely nailing it.
    Also very much enjoying your content, well edited, well presented, and insightful. I hope you keep the vibe you have going, and good luck on acquiring a Supra if you haven't already.

    Hagertys review used a morizo Corolla vs a pov spec Yaris so totally unrealistic comparison. Your test was a lot fairer.

      @jdmclassicsnz  Рік тому +2

      Thanks! Yeah their comparison was always going to be tough due to how hard it is to get your hands on these cars in the States. Jason still did an amazing job regardless - hopefully this video complements his with a different perspective 😁

      Toyota have made it as difficult as possible to allow the Corolla and CP/Rallye Yaris to be directly compared, because they know that the Corolla doesn't get close to the CP/Rallye Yaris in any scenario, and they don't want to damage sales.

    I own a GRYCP and I have an aftermarket exhaust, intake and a seat lowering kit. Now it is perfect. Lots of turbo sounds, the exhaust sounds great, and the seating position is perfect. I love it now.

      @@whatwoulddarrendo1325 DNA seat lowering kit. You need to cut off a little bit of plastic on the underside of the seat, but it is nothing that is visible at all, and would make no difference even if you returned to stock.

    We don't get the GRY, the Supra costs a lot more and is rear driven, the 86 is rear driven, and we have long winters with lots of snow and a city built on a hill, so....the GRC will be my perfect and fun to rip vehicle of choice! Great review and I'm a bit jealous. Looked like a really fun day. 😄

    Appreciate your honest and insightful review. I own both a GRY and GR86 so I 100% agree with your pick. It is that good. I think the GRC is overrated for the price. There's no hiding the extra weight.

      I'm so jealous you guys get all 4 GR models, esp the GRY. Haven't driven a GRC yet, but I had the chance to drive GRY on track in Japan last year, and I want it so bad now. I'm so mad that it's forbidden fruit in the US

    • @sonydominates
      @sonydominates 26 днів тому +1

      Also to your point, I feel the added weight is one of the major reasons the GRC has the clutch pack overheating issue. Don't know if it's a problem in the GRY, but seeing so many videos of them riping around the Nurburgring on UA-cam, I'd imagine the problem isn't prevalent on the GRY.
      I have sat in both, and I agree that the GRY is a much more special car. While the GRC's body uses a reinforced Corolla body, the GRY's body is bespoke, making it that much tighter and befitting of the drivetrain.
      Also, the body cladding on the GRC makes me feel like getting the short end of the stick, whereas the wide, haunched fenders of the GRY look so much better as an integrated part of the body.
      While I'm glad Toyota made the GRC, I agree that the GRY is vastly superior dynamically and in value proposition when you think of the engineering and production costs alone.
      Nevertheless, I'm probably going to end up buying the GRC at somepoint, but if the GRY were to come to the US, I'd go for that instead in a heartbeat. (Not to mention the homologation ties the GRY has)
      In conclusion, the GRY is a clean slate designed car with rally intentions in mind whereas the GRC feels like fan service to the US market 😅. I'm still glad we get a taste of the drivetrain, but that GRY chassis is to die for, and I'm so mad we won't get it.

    Before I watch this I would assume the GR86 feels the best connected to the street and makes you want you drive it more while on the track you want more power. The Yaris will be the most fun, but most difficult to control, the Supra just will feel fast but heavy and the Corolla unnecessary to be on the track but be the perfect daily.

    This era will end in a high thanks to Toyota and maybe some good few years with the 911 still carrying ICEs. But honestly the day all of these are gone will be the saddest day in automobile industry. I will receive my Civic Type R next month I will try my best to bring home a GR Yaris before it is too late. Great reviews

    So at 16:46 it’s mentioned that the Yaris in NZ comes with both the convenience and circuit packs as standard. I’m wondering how you tell they do because some of them I’ve seen for sale don’t have the BBS forged alloys which indicated to me they didn’t have the circuit pack.

      All NZ new GR Yaris' were only offered in one spec, the only option was colour. If you see any with different wheels etc they're almost certainly a Japanese import.

    Over here in the states and all we get is the GR Corolla which I purchased. Of course I would have gone with the GR Yaris given it's a WRC homologation special if it was offered but the Corolla does make more sense even as tiny as it is. The Yaris would have been totally useless.
