I never even thought of buying single blade razors before watching your videos. It certainly makes the lining up much easier...!

Single blade, much easier than multi-blades for lining up.

Might try this next time. I was growing out my beard this November and since my growth is light on my cheeks, I had a hard time determining where my DE razor was cutting, and I screwed up my line so I just hacked the entire thing off. Luckily, I don't miss it. No beard, no itch. Plus, shaping a beard is a real pain. The growth on my cheeks basically fuses into my eyebrows if I don't trim it off.

Love the vids Geo. Get my EJ DE89 Saturday, can't wait to start DE shaving - all thanks to your great instructional videos! One question, do you recommend any pre-shave facewashes? I have fairly sensitive skin which tends to dry out with the harsher soaps/facewashes.

Hey Geo your thoughts on getting a line through deep beard by bringing the straight down @ 90 degrees to your skin, like u did under your nose, and then scooping out. Better line thru all the depth of hair. I do it with the shavette al la 'coup de maitre' under my nose and my top lip. HOVEVER!!! Just got my first HHT passing straight so eager to learn before slicing myself bad. But why didn't you do this for your top lip with your straights? Too dangerous?

Hi Geo, what Razor do you prefer, the Feather Nape?? or the Shavette Dreadnought?? the shavette uses those thin, Flimsy, double edge blades, are the feather nape blades thicker??? are they wire free?? would the feather be a good compromise to the Artist Club Feather??

    Hi Geo,
    Just a quick question...
It looks like at some points you are holding your DE razor almost perpendicular to your face. How is it that you don't get irritation that way? If my razor angle is just slightly too deep I'll get instant razor burn!

    • @geofatboy

maybe it's just the angle of the camera...

@geofatboy I've been a user of a Merkur safety razor for over a year now and I'm thinking about switching to eventually using a straight razor. I'd like to start by using a shavette first and would like to know what you recommend the best type is for someone with sensitive skin. my skin gets cut very easy and it took me a while to get a perfect shave with a safety razor without cutting myself. I would hate to go through that experience with a shavette and would like to know what your recommendation was for me. Thanks in advance

Feather shavettes are the best, but if you're on a budget, try the Parker, Dreadnought, or Dovo. All will get the job done for you. Then switch to a traditional straight when you feel comfortable with it. www.shavenation.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=303_10
