Against the Stonewall you have to rip apart White's center from all angles and exploit the open g1-a7 diagonal created by f4, the White weakness at e3, etc. Otherwise White suffocates Black. Also the system is so brainless (I call it the "opening from hell") that those who play it are often very familiar with it.
@@pranadheer Forgot to add often White's Ne5 is best ignored, as it can be isolated to ineffectiveness, but this opening is nasty. I had a friend who played it against me for ten years before I got serious and even now it's just annoying. There's also a nice pin trick with Qb6 that eliminates d4 support of e5 and allows Bxe5 or Nxe5 if White isn't careful, while if White breaks the pin with Kh1 that creates both latent back-rank mating threats and the threat of Nf2+ supported by Qb6, winning the exchange. Of course I can think of more effective ways of deealing with players who play this abomination of an opening for White, but the above is the best LEGAL strategy that won't land you in prison.
