I’ve been using ‘Plan to Eat’ for my meal planning, shopping, and cooking for the last year or so and it’s been SO beneficial! It let’s you import recipes from online or type in your own, then you just drag and drop to meal plan and it creates you grocery list. I’m wasting so much leas food, eating healthier, and eating out less.

I planned out 4 weeks of dinner menus, including leftovers nights, with sides and veggies, based on my family’s favorites. Posted it inside a kitchen cabinet. I rotated things so every week wasn’t identical; included x number of fish entrees, x number of beef , etc. No two weeks we’re identical (so no “Monday means meatloaf”), cuz my daddy always said that variety is the spice of life 😊 So one planning session, a months worth of menus, and all I had to do was open the cabinet to see what’s for dinner. I didn’t have time for weekly recipes searching and customizing lists.

I go online and see what price fruit and vegetables are on seasonal sale in which stores, then the I look online or in my own recipe books and decide watch one is best to use for the week. After that the meal planning is pretty much like your meal planning.

This is so nice but it seems to take a ton of time to search, print, make pretty in binder, price compare, go to stores, shop, drag it home, 30 plus minutes to cook.
I’m trying to cut time so I bought low cal, high protein frozen meals, jars of soup, and buy huge salads from Jason’s deli, Costco eggs, avocados, frozen strawberries, protein powder, spinach and bananas for smoothies. I bought grass fed meatballs that I can cook with noodles and cabbage and switch up sauces. I can prepare tuna salads and put on a bed of shredded lettuce and have grapes. I have a insta pot. That I can make thighs and rice with different sauce packets. I like ground turkey with onions, peppers, black beans on a bed of brown rice with different seasoning packets. ( these I freeze for food prep)
It’s can be time and mind consuming. Life used to be way more slow and simple😢

Blue Bonnet Good suggestion. I personally do inventory as I go. I took an inventory of everything (food/non-food), put it on a spreadsheet, printed it out, and as I use items or buy items, I update it (when I’m putting groceries away and using a recipe). I email that spreadsheet to myself, so when I’m in the store and want to make a recipe, I can refer to my inventory list and see if I have the ingredients I need or if I see a good sale, I can check to see how many I already have. Every so often when there are enough changes, I update the spreadsheet from my printed copy and email it to myself again to keep an updated list on my phone. My shopping list is also a worksheet in that same spreadsheet. (I have to budget to the penny since I’m on fixed income.) I also price comparison shopped about 6 stores in the beginning, narrowed it down to 2 or 3 stores and update the prices as I buy things if the prices change. Another good way to know if a sale is really a good sale or not. :-)

We just vacuum seal our meals in Mason Jars and they stay good for 2 weeks to a month in the fridge so I don't really have to do this every week. I have a meal plan for once a month that I do and a small inventory list for our meats that are Vaccum sealed and freezed (I do this about 2-3 times a year) as well as an inventory for some other things like Baking Soda, oils, etc. I set aside one day out of the month to prep/Cook our meals and they're all ready to be warmed up whenever we're hungry. We also don't eat scheduled meals (only when we're hungry) so no need for me to have a "menu". I just pick what looks good to eat in that Mason Jar

We end up ordering in most of the time since im not that good at cooking and my boyfriend doesn't know what to do to help me in the kitchen. We also have a small kitchen and cooking anything in there is a hassle and not enjoyable in the least. I want to reduce my waste from ordering food and also eat more healthily. It so difficult to do and takes time. I tried doing a journal for my personal things but I cant seem to find the time to do that either. There aren't enough hours in the day!!!

I'm a year late to this video, however, I'm so thankful meal planning isn't limit to any time, month or year and that i can start anytime. I really enjoyed watching your video here, however, I feel like the content from the video assumes that one lives either by themselves. However, that isn't my case and it's something I constantly struggle with when it comes to meal planning. I was wondering if I could get advice from you about how to meal plan when I don't live alone. Right now, I currently still live with my parents and four other siblings. I am the oldest so it feels weird to me to meal plan for just myself. I do most of the grocery shopping for the whole family as well because none of my family members work stable jobs. Yet, I really want to start on meal prep and learn, so when I move out I can have the habit developed already. I've thought about buying separate groceries for my family and just for myself because I do work a 40 hour/week job and need all three meals per days. But, is it too much? I look forward to hearing from ya and anyone else who might be able to help!

I'm loving this. I have been cooking at home since November 2019. Is there a place to get your meal planning sheets?
