As goalies we don't get that much recognition as that of the other outfield players. Thanks man! It means a lot that you made a video on goalkeepers! Keep up the good work man!
I actually admire the Goalkeeper's position as it's unique. There can be 1-4 Forwards, 2-5 midfielders, 3-5 Defenders but only 1 Goalkeeper. That's why even though you may have 1 or 2 average players in the outfield you need to have a great goalkeeper to be a successful team and the Keeper plays an important role. Just like the wicket keeper in cricket.
In WW2, My grandad served in in north africa, and one time he and his mates were playing a football match with another unit and he got kicked in the shin by a guy wearing those 1930s boots with steel toecaps. It would've been interesting if you were able to find the same type of balls that were used in their respective era when using the boots and gloves. And probably how they all add up against each era. Maybe an idea for your next video. Love the content.
Was about to make the same point. Surely the 30s shoes cannot perform well with a 2000s ball (way too light for these). Wonder how it was really working with a ball of its era. But then (and I was mostly a goalie) to think that they were playing WITHOUT gloves to catch a freaking leatherball is blowing my mind. Truly those goalkeepers were warriors. Reminds me of a saying, I think it was for Yashin (50s-60s) : "He puts his hands where I won't put my foot !".
Do you want to have a relationship with someone who loves you beyond any other love. Someone who sacrificed himself for you and everyone on this Earth the one who created the heavens and the Earth be creator of everything do you want to be saved Do you want eternal life with peace and joy forever your answer is Jesus if you do not know who Jesus is read the following Jesus is the Son of God that came to this Earth to save the people of their sins. when God-created Earth sin same came into Earth and tempted Eve(The first woman) to eat the fruit that God had forbidden her and Adam to not eat. If they do, they will die. Not immediately but death is certain. Eve ate the fruit and gave Adam some to eat as well. And he did. That showed that humans are sinners and not perfect. That is why Jesus came to Earth to save humans of their sins. Which leads to a relationship with God(the main reason) and eternal life. He did that by dieing on the cross. 3 days later he resurrected. The story of Jesus is beautiful. If you do not already have a Bible, purchase one. If you do not have the money, pray to God about you wanting a Bible and if he could please provide one for you. Thus does not mean a Bible will come from the sky and land on your hands. Pray to God everyday. But to not be blabbering that just say a bunch words to try to impress and show off to other people or to impress God. But.. obviously I'd say it's all personal preference.. other keepers around me played Gloved.. in inclement Weather I'd wear the gloves but if it was a nice day I'd be out there barehanded..
When I was playing keeper in the early 80s and I started seeing the gloves, I didn't want them. They were so thick! Great for blocking shots, but I thought it had to be hard to catch the ball with them. Likely I was wrong on that point, but I didn't want to spend money to find out.
Great video. As an old codger (finished playing in the 2000s in my fifties) a couple of observations. Never played in 30s style boots but do remember the old heavy leather balls. They soaked up water and you needed reinforced toe caps to move them ! Perhaps try using the matching balls next time (dribbling an old style ball on a wet pitch would be a fun challenge). 're goalkeepers, right into the 70s keepers had bare hands. Occasionally keepers would use cotton or wool gloves but they were hopeless for handling. The best trick was to keep rubbing wet mud onto your palms - gave a bit more grip. The first time I remember seeing modern style gloves was Sepp Maier (West Germany) in 1974. His gloves looked really outlandish at the time. I remember the first time I tried a pair, it was a revelation they gave so much grip and protection. The biggest challenge must have been for the old keepers facing a wet, heavy leather ball, toe punted by someone with reinforced toe caps - I don't think I would have wanted to get in the way.

Nothing that wrong with leather football boots, just that companies get the best profit when both manufacturing costs and durability are low enough that they can sell a new pair cheaply once a year. Those old leather football shoes got repaired if they broke and handed to a second owner when a child's foot grew too big, as even basic designs were expensive to buy on working class incomes. Of course there's other reasons why changes have happened, for example with high end designs it makes sense that professionals quickly got rid of heavy boots with steel toes.
Just bought a pair of copa mondial. What a pair. Although regarding the boots, he didn't really pick the best pair from each era. For the 90s/00s the pred 4s were so much better than those nike.
when i was young, i played football with my friends at the dirty abandoned contruction ground, i was the goalkeeper, but my friend forgot to bring the gloves for me so i borrowed my mom's dish washing gloves instead 🤣 cuz it has the grips on it
When I was a kid, I used to be a goalkeeper and loved wearing gloves while playing, now I still love wearing gloves but they are a bit different, to protect my hands from the hot barrel and the edges, the elements and for better grip. The more things change, the more they stay the same 🙂
In the BARCA DREAMS documentary on Netflix, the Barça goalkeeper from the 50's said they wore wool gloves in these days (made by his mother), and he said that was awful, especially with rainy weather on those old 50's pitches full of mud.. You should try that one too !

I feel like Kieran should play as a keeper in sidemen charity match, it would be legendary

Lol it was just yesterday I was wondering when u we’re gonna post another video😂
When it comes to football, or soccer I am an actual moron. I just know there is ball, kick ball, fun. Very interesting video. Subscribed.
An old footballer : In my days we used to play with boots made out of leather and those where very good
Can’t beat a pair of classic leather football boots 👍
Imagine what the kids in the 30 would see as old FOOTBALL boots. Because I can't imagine it.
"The newer they are the better they seem to be". Crazy that.
Love the picture of Gianluca Pagliuca on the 80s gloves. God so many memories!!!
I haven't tried the 20's gloves, but as someone who used to play as a keeper, I imagine it would feel wrong to not have that strap
I dont like (those) adidas gloves generally
@QuebecNordiquesYT police2 for some reason i'd rather get a pair of 2017-19 predator gloves over 2020
when i was young, i played football with my friends at the dirty abandoned contruction ground, i was the goalkeeper,
but my friend forgot to bring the gloves for me so i borrowed my mom's dish washing gloves instead 🤣
cuz it has the grips on it
What rating would you give them?
@@jmgamer9267 obviously a 20 out of 20
props to this guy for time traveling to 1930 for our entertainment
9:28 thats the funiest thing ive seen a goalkeeper do 😂
When I was a kid, I used to be a goalkeeper and loved wearing gloves while playing, now I still love wearing gloves but they are a bit different, to protect my hands from the hot barrel and the edges, the elements and for better grip. The more things change, the more they stay the same 🙂
Not too many football and firearm enthusiasts, glad to find some! You'd think there'd be more of us since both love shooting lol
In the BARCA DREAMS documentary on Netflix, the Barça goalkeeper from the 50's said they wore wool gloves in these days (made by his mother), and he said that was awful, especially with rainy weather on those old 50's pitches full of mud.. You should try that one too !
Well it looks like Kieran is a dedicated keeper now
That guy in goal while he was shooting didn't even attempt to make a save he was scared 😂😂
?
so football technology has gotten better over the years, shocker!
fun fact: In the 1930s they used to kick the balls with the front of their feet(with their toes), that's the reason for the shoes having steel caps.
not only that, balls weighed like 2 tons back then... keepers were more of a Leonidas type of person
He spelt handling - Hadnling at the start when he showed the categories of testing of goalkeeper gloves
Finally no one except you has commented on that
Cool video. I remember back in the 80's, the UHLSPORT Dino Zoff gloves being the best at the time x
This is like a 10-minute documentary
I always soaked my gloves in Coca Cola before match day, man those gloves were sticky!
I've always lived in the U.S but honestly people calling it football instead of soccer sounds normal to me now but him saying boot instead of cleat was strange for me but a great video :)
4:40 the gk is really trying? lol
Nem falo inglês, não sei como vim parar aqui, mas o vídeo é bom🙏🏻tmj✌🏻
I am not interested in soccer really, but this was a fun and informative video to watch :)
4:30 goalie not doing anything......
What are the 2020 cleats called?
Idk
New balance I think
It says here 1:09
For the 2021 goalkeeper gloves, I don't see many goalkeepers wear them so it's my first time seeing somebody wear them.
Him: it feels weird to catch a ball with no gloves 🧤
Every kid ever: First time?
I would love to see present professional players with 30's set and let them play
A 1930's goalkeeper who needed to knock away a heavy soaked brown leather ball bare handed in rainy conditions earns some respect.
This mans certainly never fielded on a cold day in Ireland
Lol a fellow irishman
