That's crazy they had invisibility gloves in the 1930's
Yeah their so much more advanced than our generation
You mean gloves?

no they didnt have it its impossible it was 1930 and there was world war 2 like omg their technology wasnt good and they were tougher

In WW2, My grandad served in in north africa, and one time he and his mates were playing a football match with another unit and he got kicked in the shin by a guy wearing those 1930s boots with steel toecaps. Broke his leg, was out of the war, and used a walking stick for the rest of his life. It's quite possible I only exist thanks to those boots.
Hahaaa. Long live the boots
Damn a broken bone caused him to never walk again? Wtf was that hospital
@@jjj-bl8yf Thats the WW2 Healthcare for you. Not only the football tech evolved over the years
Bless your Grandpa's Balls
Which broken leg, a middle one😂😂
Then thanks ur grandad neighbors 😁😁
It would've been interesting if you were able to find the same type of balls that were used in their respective era when using the boots and gloves. And probably how they all add up against each era. Maybe an idea for your next video. Love the content.
Also to add, leather balls get really nasty when they get soaked in the rain
Was about to make the same point. Surely the 30s shoes cannot perform well with a 2000s ball (way too light for these). Wonder how it was really working with a ball of its era.
But then (and I was mostly a goalie) to think that they were playing WITHOUT gloves to catch a freaking leatherball is blowing my mind. Truly those goalkeepers were warriors.
Reminds me of a saying, I think it was for Yashin (50s-60s) : "He puts his hands where I won't put my foot !".
Do you want to have a relationship with someone who loves you beyond any other love. Someone who sacrificed himself for you and everyone on this Earth the one who created the heavens and the Earth be creator of everything do you want to be saved Do you want eternal life with peace and joy forever your answer is Jesus if you do not know who Jesus is read the following Jesus is the Son of God that came to this Earth to save the people of their sins. when God-created Earth sin same came into Earth and tempted Eve(The first woman) to eat the fruit that God had forbidden her and Adam to not eat. If they do, they will die. Not immediately but death is certain. Eve ate the fruit and gave Adam some to eat as well. And he did. That showed that humans are sinners and not perfect. That is why Jesus came to Earth to save humans of their sins. Which leads to a relationship with God(the main reason) and eternal life. He did that by dieing on the cross. 3 days later he resurrected. The story of Jesus is beautiful. If you do not already have a Bible, purchase one. If you do not have the money, pray to God about you wanting a Bible and if he could please provide one for you. Thus does not mean a Bible will come from the sky and land on your hands. Pray to God everyday. But to not be blabbering that just say a bunch words to try to impress and show off to other people or to impress God. A few words out of the heart is better than saying a bunch words to impress and not mean. This does not mean praying long prayers is bad.
Acts 16:31
They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus , and you will be saved- you and your household."

The thing is in the 30s the balls were also rock solid so imagine that

When I played in the late 80s and early 90s I still rocked the 1930 gloves when I played Goalie.. lol I dunno I just kinda preferred it.. felt like it gave me a better feel for the ball.. But.. obviously I'd say it's all personal preference.. other keepers around me played Gloved.. in inclement Weather I'd wear the gloves but if it was a nice day I'd be out there barehanded..

When I was playing keeper in the early 80s and I started seeing the gloves, I didn't want them. They were so thick! Great for blocking shots, but I thought it had to be hard to catch the ball with them. Likely I was wrong on that point, but I didn't want to spend money to find out.

Interesting video, especially the boots. I loved playing without gloves. There is something about your hands being unimpeded by gloves that feels right. I've got big rough hands though, so maybe thats why I struggle with the gloves rating.

As goalies we don't get that much recognition as that of the other outfield players. Thanks man! It means a lot that you made a video on goalkeepers!
Keep up the good work man!
I actually admire the Goalkeeper's position as it's unique. There can be 1-4 Forwards, 2-5 midfielders, 3-5 Defenders but only 1 Goalkeeper. That's why even though you may have 1 or 2 average players in the outfield you need to have a great goalkeeper to be a successful team and the Keeper plays an important role. Just like the wicket keeper in cricket.

Same for defenders 😔
What are your goalie gloves of choice?
@@eraldlekaj2265 lol y'all have started scoring goals and assists now. That's not even your job.
Kieran! I love watching your vids
Fun stuff. Kudos!
The goalkeeper glove technology has developed but not in the same way as you might think. Roughly going forwards from the 80s.
1: latex palms
2: cuts, negative and roll finger.
3: Bandage wrists
3: More innovative and groovier stuff.
(Didn't mention fingersaves, cos I don't personally like them)
I would as a pro very gladly have kept wearing the same gloves I did 15 years ago. Unfortunately the model changed and at the same time I was required to switch brands...
At the top level it's only a matter of preference where the most important factors are cut, feel and latex thickness. A great glove doesn't need to cost 150 euros or quids. The good ones usually start somewhere around 50.
Keep up the good work. Was fun to see.

Auaaaaahhhh!
Great video. As an old codger (finished playing in the 2000s in my fifties) a couple of observations. Never played in 30s style boots but do remember the old heavy leather balls. They soaked up water and you needed reinforced toe caps to move them !
Perhaps try using the matching balls next time (dribbling an old style ball on a wet pitch would be a fun challenge).
're goalkeepers, right into the 70s keepers had bare hands. Occasionally keepers would use cotton or wool gloves but they were hopeless for handling. The best trick was to keep rubbing wet mud onto your palms - gave a bit more grip. The first time I remember seeing modern style gloves was Sepp Maier (West Germany) in 1974. His gloves looked really outlandish at the time. I remember the first time I tried a pair, it was a revelation they gave so much grip and protection.
The biggest challenge must have been for the old keepers facing a wet, heavy leather ball, toe punted by someone with reinforced toe caps - I don't think I would have wanted to get in the way.

Yes, me
I'm the best goalie in my school and I hate wearing gloves. And I am in the 3 last year in the school.
awsome soccer skills dude!
I prefer the Nike for finger (bones and tendon) protection.
I snapped my middle finger tendon when the ball hit my mid finger tip when I tried to catch a ball from a free kick shot. I only noticed it after the game, my middle finger tip is in angle form.
Being a keeper I can 100% agree that when you are playing without gloves on, it feels like you're missing everything you need
Yeah part of what we saw was confidence in the gloves in a lot of the categories.
Weak hands dude

@TubeCrash TV ok
Well, 1960's boots were closer to the seventies ones... So he was very good.
This is just a little help for you: get your body behind the ball at all times! I’ve seen it now many times that you just hold your hands to the left/right and move your body out of the way! Best example 8:39
Don’t do that! Move your body, be always on your toes and get yourself behind the ball and catch the ball ideally in the center of your body, think of it as a coordinate system: catch the ball at x=0 and y=x -> always have the center of your body behind the ball!
There are of course exceptions, like for example when you’re diving but when you’re doing these standing catches, get your body behind the ball! Best thing I’ve ever learned!
TH 1970 BOOTS ARE SUPERFANTASTIC! THEY ARE BEAUTIFULL TOO!
I love your videos they are AMAZING AND ILOVE FOOTBALL
Ur ideas are all in a hidden treasure chest man. ❤❤❤❤❤
My first pair of goalkeeper gloves (Xmas 1978) were leather (looked sort of like work gloves), with strips of the stuff they use on ping pong paddles sewn on the palm, fingers, and the knuckles. Made by Uhlsport. They worked great (relatively speaking), until the little knobbies wore off. I think it was in the mid to late 80s when manufacturers came out with gloves with the latex palm and fingers.
I haven't tried the 20's gloves, but as someone who used to play as a keeper, I imagine it would feel wrong to not have that strap
I dont like (those) adidas gloves generally
@QuebecNordiquesYT police2 for some reason i'd rather get a pair of 2017-19 predator gloves over 2020
With the bear hands it’s all about confidence in my old school I would used to play soccer everyday and would be goalie every time I was the best out there and everyday I had no gloves but made all the saves hard shots or not from the good the great and bad players it’s all about confidence
Dont forget that in 1930 the ball are not as soft and smooth as they are now! Imagine Lev Yashin with 2020 gloves.
Lev would not disgrace himself to look like a clown. Neither would Gordon or Shilts.

Would love to see Kieran review the catching practice gloves. Can’t remember the ig account to get them from but they offer no grip and are there to improve your catching
I'd take any football cleats from the 70s/80s any day...so elegant and still do the job properly!
Durability wasn't part of the test, but if it were those 70's boots would score a solid 20/20. Modern footwear doesn't last anywhere near as long.
My memory of 70s/ 80s keeper gloves at school is very different from these... They had zero padding, just a cotton/synthetic glove with different coloured rubber strips on the palms and fingers.
