The part where the orchid flower spike starts rooting is caps, stop sticking orchid roots to the flower spike with super glue, do it the genuine way and wait for a Keiki to sprout from the nodes.
After watching your behind the scenes yesterday your head head between two orchid blooms made me chuckle so much more. Thank you for all you do! Seriously. You’re a light, and a gift, and I appreciate you!
@@GerkoRodriguez No, it literally will never flower. The spikes can't just grow roots like that- they grow keikis from the nodes (which he called buds) but when keikis grow you see the leaves first.
@@xlGoldenlx.It can! I have tried. It takes too long and isn't worth it though. But it works. The sense is that the flowrr stem has nutrients and orchids themselves are super tough plants.

My mom recently passed away and I was given all of her orchids. Many of them are dying. I'm so upset! I don't know what I'm doing wrong. But I'm definitely going to try and do this! Thank you!
Sorry to hear of your mom passing. 🙏🏻 I’m learning about Orchids too. Mine enjoys morning sun and I water once a week. Maybe duplicate where your mom had them placed in the Sun? Wishing you the best. ❣️
@@sobeit1166 thank you so much. She had them in a south facing window which I don't have. I don't think they like it here at my house. ☹️ I started with 9 and I'm down to 3 which is upsetting considering they were my mom's. I really don't want the rest to die.
On the stem they're called nodes. Orchids benefit from an orchid feed. They also can get scorched by too much sun so it's good to give them partial shade. These phalaenopsis orchids also rebloom better if you let them get a bit cooler in winter.
Ooo got you right in the kisser! 😂 My orchids blooms just fell off and I nearly cried because I thought it was my fault like I was just a tad too fast when handeling it to water or something. This is good information!
Fwi just so you know you are supposed to trim it when the flowers fall and if the stem is unhealthy and brown and mushy then cut it all the way back 😊 once the flowers fall you also need to determine if u have to repot or not also make sure not to get water in the crevice of the leaves
As an orchid grower for 12 years now i've seen many vidéos saying that you can clone phalaenopsis orchids with this trick. I've tryed it myself, it's a wast of Time. But if you want to give it a try, it won't hurt anyone. 🤷🏻♀️
Hey thanks for this. My wife's favorite flower is orchids so I just shared this video with her. When I would buy her orchid flower eventually we would throw it out.
That's good info because I really want an orchid. I'm glad I didn't kill one before I learned this. What can you tell me about keeping poinsettia alive and flourishing I have one that is doing well and one that didn't make it. I thought I treated them both the same.
I do everything what you say in the video but the bucket of water. Once a week I feed a combination of water and onion skin, skin allow it to set up for a few days before adding to the plant and then add some water also I have gorgeous Flowers
It's not real. A bunch of his videos are full of crap. The only accurate thing here is that you can get another spike when you cut the main one. Everything else is wrong. -Those are nodes, not buds. Buds are unopened flowers. -That technique for getting another orchid rarely works -Even when it does work, it grows from a keiki and not the bottom of the stem (look up keiki if you don't know)
Thank you! *Request* sweet potatoes and worm compost! I want a rabbit because worms eat rabbit poop and I heard it’s excellent natural fertilizer too!🪴🍈🌱

Try orchid phosphorous fertilizer, works for me
They need a cool period for a week or two to stimulate the flower spike to form. Try that and see if you have better luck.

The “cuttings” method only works with very few types of orchids. For most it will not work.

You don’t need to cut it that low just check for the next bud down that isn’t empty and cut like 1cm above it
