And that is why I have and use a Pat Puckett Reata! haha I will never forget pulling up to train with Pat Puckett and the first thing he says is," You got a rope?" I said I have this and he said" "What you going to do with that? Pull a car out of the mud? LOL! Well after learning from Pat for awhile and him making me go Pro I bought my first Reata At a competition! I showed Pat and he said " what are you going to do with that? Pull a car out of the mud"! LOL! I have never bought another Reata except from Pat and Deb!!! I now know, I have learned my lesson!!! I love you two!!!
I love that you care about the Dine' (Navajo) people's access to water. I also love your take on country music, I could not agree with you more on that topic.
"Hank , Hank , Hank and Hank " has to be the best laugh of the week. So glad to see your fully healed. Or is that 'heeled' ? GREAT analogy of reata's and real country music. Hello Mr Puckett. I'm new to you're channel and like what I see. I'm wondering if you know anything about the agave plant fiber ropes they use in Mexico. Thanks
Good reata info. I was watching a video about western bits and how the different mouthpieces worked for different horses. I was wondering if you like Chinaco's breed because it has a better headset for a western bit? Also, can you predict what style of western bit will work best for him at this point?
I saw Pard and we talked in Parkview. Good Guy. The name, Owyhee, comes from early fur trappers. In 1819, three natives from Hawaii, part of Donald McKenzie’s fur-trapping expedition, were sent to trap a large stream that emptied into the Snake River. When they did not return, McKenzie investigated and found one man murdered in camp and no sign of the others. The stream was named in their honor. “Owyhee” is an early spelling for the word Hawaii.

The closest we get to Washington is our annual gathering in Medford Oregon. We've gone up there in June in the past but might do it in the fall of 2024. Just depends on the haying season in Medford...
I could never justify the cost of a raita. Not that I didn’t want one. I did like a long braided rope with a rawhide or Metal Honda. I would buy from Kings of Wyoming. Thank you for the lessons
Cook’s name for Hawaii was the Sandwich islands. I believe I heard a story about Paniolos who were hired to come to that area to work cattle or train some locals to work cattle. The name you used is a bastardized version of “Hawai’i.”
Owyhee and Hawaii are the same thing. When Cook sailed to the Hawaiian Islands he called them the Sandwich Islands and called the natives who lived there "Owyhees." greetings from Hermiston, OR
@@MarshallMcCrory it depends on the length and quality. Generally between $500 and $700. Pat has pulled and prepared them for use and roped with them a bit.
I think I heard trappers brought Hawaiians with them because they were good boat hands and a few of them got lost or died while exploring the owahee river so they named it in honor of them .
Yahateeh friend. Navajo watching your videos all the time. Love it. Coming from a sheep herding, horse breaking Navajo family. Ahehee for your videos

hey pat so if you were to have a reata from mexico with the braided in hondo could you replace the hondo with an american style rawhide hondo
Where could I get a good reata? I’ve been looking for a while
Is there any place in Southern California that sells reatas, mecates, and bosales?
If you’re looking for a physical shop, none that I know of.

What type, diameter, lay of rope (cotton, grass, poly, nylon, etc.) mimics a rawhide reata the best?
A 5/16 three strand poly.

Owyhee, or Owhyhee is an older form of the name Hawai´i, and the first Expeditions, to scout and map the Area included Hawaiians
Does a good reata need a core?
No. Ours don't have cores.
Selling any newly made reata
No BULLSHIT.

These you would never Switch the Honda around?
I think you're asking if we would switch ends on a reata? We never have but don't see a reason why it wouldn't be possible.
Can I buy 1 from you please Pat?
