Circularsaw Pro Tip - make the blade depth shallow enough so that its just jutting through to the underneath (not heaps of blade showing below) and it will be smooth, easier to handle but more importantly ALOT easier on the motor and blade during the curve. If you use a Cordless one, it will thank you even more!
Great video boss. I’m building one of these bad boys. Just a tip for @2:51 ... if you want the ribs to be exactly the same dimensions, you might be able to stack/clamp them to together to cut all of them at once (since the plywood is relatively thin). As long as your circ saw can handle the thickness.
Guy's got all the top tips! Never thought of using a circular saw and I like the solid wood for the radius as those strings all over the place! Really like the onboard air with nail gun too!
Awesome video and the rest in this series are great as well. Love the direction you have been taking your content in the last couple years. Question for you: At 5:22 when you are tracing the transition, what did you do with the plywood at the bottom of the video frame to keep it in place?
it was screwed to the 2x4 to make it a little longer then I put a screw through it at 5:18 that acts as a pivot point. On asphalt it bites in, if you were doing it on concrete or something you could put down another sheet of ply for it to poke into a little so it wont slide.
Nicely done man My gf wanted a ramp to practice on so built a mellow take off and landing even made a deck so it wasn't a gap, she used it once about a year ago lol
Hey Jeff , keep up with the good vids mate. Cool to see your channel nowdays! Your NWD6 part was saved on my ipod and watched multiples times over when I was a kid haha! Thanks man.
looks good. Still much bigger that I am comfortable with. My "little" 2' tall one is still a bit big for me...lol. I'll bet yours is lighter though as mine is a bit overbuilt. 2X10 sides with leftover 3/4" thick oak flooring for decking....It will never break, I can guarantee that.
This definitely beats the milk crate/flimsy board ramps my friends and I used back in the day. Pretty sure there's laws against that sort of thing now...
You are one of a kind Jeff. If I built something like that my landing would be a deep pond with some floats on my frame so I could retrieve the bike! What bike rack do you have on your van? Love how it swings out so you can open the doors wide. Also, what air compressor did you buy for the van?
@@riffmeisterkl lol, we were going for distance and it does look a little less intimidating when you're going towards it and it was a little bit of a step up.
IDK, my buddy had one like that and it seemed cool. It does artificially extend the deck though, meaning you can essentially be more "off" and not hit the back edge because it's lower. Make sense?
That case pad is so sketchy. It may be ok on smaller jumps, but once you hit that jump at full speed, it becomes quite dangerous if you case. What i did on my backyard setup is i built a flat case platform with a 4-6' round transition ( angle of landing and size depending) and also do the same style transition at the bottom. That way, you still have a case pad, but if you do case, you won't blow a rim, tire, or get thrown over the bars. Otherwise, very nice build.
Why is you “only having your trail bike” bad news? Just curious. Also, did you double up the sheets of plywood on the jump? It looks like you did but wasn’t sure.
Line the corners up of all 3 sheets of plywood and screw together. Then cut both sides and the middle at the same time. Guarantees they are all the same. Get your measurements right though or you've messed up 3 sheets of plywood.
thetasigma590 you can definitely do that with the straight cuts but the radius cuts get sketchy with more than 2 sheets. I find it faster to just rip individual sheets than try to force it.
Here's a pro tip: use a carpenter's pencil instead of a marker. They are cheaper, make better marks, and last waaaay longer than felt tip markers. I've been doing concrete for 12 years.
So is it 11 feet 6 inches or 11 feet 5 inches? You said 11 and a half feet but you wrote down 11.5"...I'm building this ramp so I want to get it right. I assume you mean 11 feet six inches?

+1 on the circular saw tip. Way easier to get smooth. Better get some attack dogs for the secret spot!

@@JeffLenoskyTrailBoss Dude, Seth follows your channel..??? NO WAY!!!

what are dims of the kicker besides 11.5 radius? What does it measure horizontally from front to lip, vertical height from ground edge to lip? Cheers.
Thanks for the kudos. Jump came out perfect. Nice job.
Nice tip on the goggles Jeff. Would never thought of using one of those. Seems a lot better than the typical ones also.

It's not over built, it's just built for the next 2 generations. 😁

Over build it so you don't have to build it over

It's called a Rack Attack and it's sold by 1UP and the compressor is ARB
Next time you should use the dirt jumper. I thinks it’s really cool and would like to see it more. Also think it would work really well on that jump.
I will at some point, watch next weeks video though, we were going for distance and the trail bike is way more forgiving.
Dang! You put a lot of work into that. Very nice!!! Was that your dog running around?. That thing was cracking me up.
Thanks dude! Stay tuned for a couple more videos with this ramp. That was my friend Laura's dog Hoagie.
Jeff do you have any merch
is there a reason the case pad is at an angle?
My friend had on built like that and it seemed less “case-able”

Is there a material list?
Did you outfit the van yourself or did you have a company do it?
I had someone build the rack custom and I did the interior. I should do another van update.
Everyone out building jumps and I'm all like, "I'mma put some road bars on a MTB."

Why do the "case pad" at a downward angle instead of flat?
Is it motivation to not hit it?

What's the thickness on that ply?
Brion van Over usually 3/4 for sides 1/2 for take off surfaces that are bent but double ply and 3/4 for landings
