My whiskey group did one a few weeks back. Great chance to try some bottles you either don't see often or never purchased before. Our rules were: Under $100, readily available on the shelf. If you want to go above, that's on them. Bottles where name tagged an told to bring home although a number of members left their bottles as a gift. Good time.
Unique, original video topic, with experiential wisdom. Hitter video
Thanks for the ideas. I'm not taking my WLW to any share. I didn't open on my 25th wedding anniversary but may open on my twins' 21st birthday.
If you don’t bring your Pappy 15 to the bottle share, we can’t be friends anymore.
Bottle shares are fun, but definitely make sure your group is on the same page about what to bring and what not to bring beforehand
For a bottle share I’ll pitch some ideas to the host or group chat to get a feel for the room. Then from there I’ll try to bring something from left field to break the norms.
the thing with Bardstown 'discovery' series is they make a new blend each time to allow people the chance to try new flavors.
I love the diversity of the Willett Family Estate Purple Tops. They’re always so interesting
I’ve always found that a stagg Jr. Or just Stagg now is a popular and favorite to bring and share, especially people just getting into it and hearing about it and wanting to know what it’s all about.
My main thing for bottles that I bring (and when I eventually host one) is no neck pours. I have yet to have a bottle of bourbon that wasn't better after being open for a couple weeks.
Great topic and video! I have a Willet 15yr maroon wax top, sourced from Bernheim in 1992, where Pappy was sourced at the time. I’m not bringing that to a bottle share! I’d bring store picks and unique finished bottles so people can see if they like those.
Very cool!
Great vid, I think Dave nailed it at the intro lmao "Someone else's"
Have you reviewed Four Roses Small Batch Select? I’ve got you guys as my top advisors. Thank you for what you do?
Yes 4 yrs ago I went to a bourbon sampling. 2019 the Woodford reserve master’s collection batch proof and I took it . Damn we opened it up and I was like I just fucked up.
But I used the next 3 yrs in acquiring that same bottle and now I have 4 of them.
I agree with David, lol....I like Whiskey Share.....Whiskey Share it is! Great video guys....
Two quick things: One thing might be to split out craft bottles into a separate categories. I would think something like Hard Truth might fall in the shelf category but it also feels a little bit tougher (I have only seen it at one local liquor store). The other would be a protocol question. Do you open a bottle at the share or do you open it up a bit before to let it breathe? That may depend on the bottle, but some stuff is just better after it's been open for a bit.
I have the same question - are you supposed to bring full sealed bottles or can you bring bottles that are already open? Going to my first "Whiskey Share" in a few weeks.
Open is totally fine
I would like to go to a smaller bottle share and trying to set one up with some locals. The PITP one is amazing but think a smaller group would lead to a little more in depth tasting. Great ideas on the type of bottles and video as usal!
That would be cool!
Agree with KC 18
Bardstown price has jumped up 20-40+ a bottle in MD for disco and other colabs.
.
Love this channel. You guys need to come to Rochester hills Michigan Alan d liquor. We take the hunting out of bourbon hunting
I hear you say “sourced Willeit” is some of the best whiskey a lot. What bottles are you referring to when you say this?
So I don't remember the barrel numbers off tip my head. But these are older in age Willetts that I had years ago.
Heck quit livin in a box. Make it a spirit soirée
Great list
Glad you enjoyed it
When yall gonna do a 1 to 2 hrs live stream where we can hang out with yall??
Trying to get out live stream studio ready
Knob Creek 12 destroys 18. Hot take, I know
I'd like to know where to buy a Discovery 11. Bardstown's don't come to Jersey.
Man I wish I could help. Have you looked online?
Bardstown Bourbon does have Discovery 11 in their gift shop.
Just not worth the 8 hour drive each way.@@andrewc5560
Don't hate on ryes Zach 😂🥃
Never!!!! Lol.
If whiskey/bourbon bottle shares are anything like craft beer bottle shares from 10-15 years ago, then it will just be a d*ck waving contest of who has the best/most popular/sought after bottles.
Yeah have never been to one like that. Not saying it doesn't happen but thankfully we have been around good people sharing great whiskey!
