i really wish people would give this woman her flowers. she conveys emotion so well in her music; you can really tell she does it for the love of the game. i don't see how hayley isn't recognized by the general public as one of the best vocalists out right now! she's got amazing range and can write the hell out of a song! i absolutely adore her and can't wait to see them again soon!
yeah, i didn't realize how badly people didn't like her for all the "drama" surrounding her until the VMA voting opened & people were shitting on her on twitter. very disheartening since she's so talented & one of the best vocalists out rn.@@woody_you_want
Love the video, I don't see a ton of music youtubers discussing how difficult singing is, not to mention being a pro at it like Hayley. Not only do you need to be genetically predisposed to have a certain voice, but the work that goes into maintaining it is exhausting. I play a few instruments and I always tell people that the hardest one is singing.
@@sergescardigno The only song that she ever hit her highest note was on the song "All I wanted" which is a song from Brand New Eyes Album , the note was so high , that she refused to sing this song live for years because of fear she would damage her throat ,even when Hayley did the song in the studio back in 2009 she had to take a break from singing , she never sang the song until this year
only thing I would add is how insanely high her chest voice gets up to. she can belt/sing full voice wayyyyy higher than the avg singer (ie all I wanted)(not sure if this would be mixed voice!)
@@sergescardigno You made a mistake ... the highest note Hayley Williams has ever done was in fact on the song " All I wanted" from Brand New Eyes album (2009)
Great video! love Hayley, such an inspiration. BTW a really low note (and a really hard register transition) that you didn't mention is in "Hate to see your heart break". I liked that you focused on the hard low notes instead of the high belting that everyone focuses on when referring to her because what is challenging the most to do when singing is the register transitions
i'm thankful that hthaze recommended this video cause it's always nice to see people apreciate Hayley, plus this is the first time i see someone actually explain her vocal range.. also considering how in 2009 she compleatly lost her voice and had issues with it for a while she keeps singing better and better 🧡
This video was amazing! I loved the smooth editing and concise explanations. Only critique is she does sing D3s often on tours in the songs Hate to See Your Heartbreak and Grudges and occasionally supports it. I also wanted to thank you for crediting me for the last clip!
EASILY one of my favorite singers working today. I think there was a misguided focus on vocalists, in pop music in particular, in previous decades. Artists like Mariah Carrey or Britney Spears were vocalists first and their artistry was always in service of their vocal performance, not the other way around. Hayley's voice is a focal point of the music of Paramore, definitely, but that performance is elevating the art of the band, rather than the band simply being window-dressing for her voice. The drama around Paramore, the band, not being signed to a record label and it actually being Hayley who was signed with them as her "backing band" contractually, is something that is both justifiable, given what an incredible vocalist she is, and ultimately something that I feel is very intentionally kept from being the actual reality of their music. The way their songs are written, produced and mixed, Hayley is "The singer for Paramore", Paramore is not "Hayley Williams' backing band". I think that's a real testament to the band and to Hayley that this is true.
Omggg what a great video!! I love videos like this. Discussing one specific topic (hayley williams’ amazing talent) and helping me learn so much about something i know nothing about - the technicalities of singing 😊
There’s a live video from 2015 of her performing “Bury It” by Chvrches, and Lauren from that band has a beautiful voice in her own right, but Hayley comes in on the 2nd verse and just dominates. Her voice is truly a powerhouse.
People have been saying she’s a bad ass singer for years but I never could hear what the big deal was. Thank you for helping me understand it. I guess her Radio hits didn’t show off her voice enough for me.
When I was put on to Paramore, I was told to go online and enjoy. The first song that came up was Last Hope, live in Chicago. It was all I needed to become a fan. As a musician, I was amazed at how low she went on the final note of the song. I can't get that low and keep it steady without a modicum of difficulty, and I have testicles. 😂
I hope she sings the whistle note on their next album, but I doubt it. Maybe she's hesitant to take risks with her voice or be compared to Mariah Carey.
2:15 is where you lost me. I really rate Hayley Williams as a singer but her singing during her live performances is sometimes downright awful. There's no doubt she can sing. No doubt she can entertain, and even when the voice isn't there it still fits into that category. But saying her dancing doesn't affect her voice ignores all those times she's been absolutely awful. You don't go to a Paramore concert for her singing it seems.
I watched this and can't argue with your knowledge of her singing, but honestly I never found her voice very appealing or melodic. It sounds monotone and the band sounds like a hardcore punk band that tried to sell out and was successful at selling out. I would describe their music as dry and monotonous. There were probably so many other bands that could have been promoted instead of them from the beginning of their start. But that dry unmelodic sound started in the late mid-late 90's with Korn and many others. Can't blame paramore, they went with what was already "trendy" at the time and added just a touch of more melody. I just prefer real melodies and a wider spectrum of sound. They always sounded like headphones with socks over the speakers.
U sound like one of those people who needs everyone to over express themselves in both their music and their facial expressions/body language in order for u to understand what they're feeling or what they're trying to to convey. Seems like you spend too much time watching anime and now expect everyone to be over dramatic when trying to express themselves. Now, I haven't heard the entirety of paramore's catalog, but from what I have heard, they are far from monotone. If your emotionally unintelligent, just say that🤷🏼♀️ I am interested in what u consider real melodies though. What or who do u consider songs/artists with real melodies with wider spectrum of sound?
Huh? Dude, I am a software engineer and a certified music recording engineer about to retire. Dag Nasty had more melody in one song than an entire Paramore album.
Quick Correction: the text over the American Football example should’ve said “Eb3” instead of “Bb2”
love that song

Paramore has literally won Grammies
@@its.albert.510 they have a singular grammy that they won in 2015, almost 10 years ago. like i said, give them their flowers.
She didnt sell her soul to the industry thats why
She's literally the goat but so many people hate her for "drama." she easily could have left Paramore to be more famous but chose not to
yeah, i didn't realize how badly people didn't like her for all the "drama" surrounding her until the VMA voting opened & people were shitting on her on twitter. very disheartening since she's so talented & one of the best vocalists out rn.@@woody_you_want

thank you! and extremely true, I didn't come to fully realize how difficult GOOD singing is for a while

It’s a fantastic chest dominant mix for sure
She is unbelievable
Love her ever since we saw her live. She totally evokes emotion in how she sings. This was the best breakdown to describe her. Love it 👏👏
she was great then and even better now👏👏

If you've ever heard her sing all i wanted live, you will agree with this 100%. It blew my socks off. I cant describe the feeling it gave me.

i had no idea caught in the middle had a falsetto omg
Great video! I’ll definitely be tuning in for more.
LIVING!! In the real worldddd
She is IT😤❤️🔥
4octaves?!😮 my goodness
Nice video you get a lot of info in such little time
thank you!

She growls but she also squeaks and whistles..
There's performances, like "Where the lines overlap" in japan, that she is jumping and singing at the same time and sounds really good.

I’m just here to feed the algorithm.
bless you
It would be cool no to know which songs she hits the lowest and highest notes on
I've seen Paramore live and she can sing just as good live.
3:04 !!! you get it. I think I made a comment about that on that very video! 💀
haha it's a signature flex of hers
Very interesting. Would love to see a video like this on Amy Lee of Evanscence.
I would love for you to do a breakdown of Mitch Grassi/ Messer vocal range
Hayley Williams has a God tier voice for a women. 👌🏻
For anyone. Not for a woman
What are those notes David Lee Roth is hitting at the end of some lines in the verses of Dance the Night Away? Sounds similar to what she is doing.
I love her so hard...
She's very underrated! She won't be appreciated until she's dead. All the posers will come out.
i wonder who can sing higher.
Hayley Williams or Kelly Clarkson.
hell, even both singers sing raspily or do a soulful growl from time to time.
She is easily the best of all time IMO.
Cool video!
ty!
She's like a female Sting.
I hope she sings the whistle note on their next album, but I doubt it. Maybe she's hesitant to take risks with her voice or be compared to Mariah Carey.
Thanks for Brett Manning for training this girl
🙌
🙌
this might not be your thing but you should check out justin hawkins from the darkness another insane range in his voice
"she's one of the best vocalists out there right now" W take
also Paramore tickets would be so worth it
I can traverse atleast 7 when I'm watching a heated football ⚽️ match
madlad
Future live on parahoy, huh? Huh?! Anybody???
I wonder who can sing higher? Hayley or Mariah? Might be a tie if Mariah can even still go that high. lol
lol we’d need a matchup
If we're talking prime it's Mariah, but now it's most likely Hayley.
