Don’t move to Tampa, go somewhere on the outskirts. We’re getting the fuck away from this place lol, already got a place picked on the water somewhat nearby for less than 400k
@@benschroeder1161 $400 a year for the property….. No HOA, getting our boat dock built for a 26ft, 10k lbs, for $21,600 Not sure about the home insurance, haven’t gotten there yet
Finally got my first 100 lb er down in Sanibel last year. We measured him boatside and it was 6’2””. And it was also on a big live Pinfish. I must have hit it right in the mouth as soon as it hit the water I was hooked up! Took about 23 mins to get it boatside but man what an epic fight!😎
awesome, can't wait to get back down there (cape coral/sanibel) and target some tarpon. whereabouts did you hook this guy? you have any weights on the line? heavier than 50lbs mono leader?? Thanks!
@@lem0121 Yea Alex if you anything about Captiva as you are entering into the main area of town there is a restaurant called the Green Flash. well right behind the place my guide picked me up from their docks. We were literally fishing about 1/4 mile right behind that restaurant just as the morning light was coming up. I was rigged with a 7’2” Savage Gear rod and a 4000 Shimano Stradic reel. Had 40lb braid and about 5ft of 60lb fluoro leader. No weight and a big live Pinfish on a 6/0 Owner Mutu Light hook. Hope this helps and good luck as there are still plenty of big tarpon down there!😎
@Alex Minnicks navigate the waters here with caution. Hurricane ian has shifted sand bars and scattered debris everywhere. Fishing is still great, just gotta be cautious of out of sight debris.
@@BrandonWatkins614 yea man I am sure things have changed since Ian. It will prob be next year B4 I go back after things get sorted out a little more. Thnx for the info bro!😎
Yeah for sure, was down there in January with the boat, shit is definitely crazy but taking it slow and using common sense kept me out of trouble! My biggest worry was to understand hazards like boats, masts, debris. Still a beautiful area though... Will be back next week and can't wait...
@@frostizz2072 I personally use a either 3/0 or 4/0 Owner circle hook for snook if I am using live or cut bait. Its deadly and rarely misses getting hooked up. But now if using plugs or swim baits I just fish with whatever comes with the lure usually. I will sometimes change out the hooks on plugs or swimbaits if I think they are too flimsy or weak to a 3/0 or 4/0 J hook. Hope this helps you out bro!😎
Another nice video... Just moved into the area a few months ago from Germany, love fishing, and really appreciate your tips. Been going out with the inlaws boat rental near the Dunedin Causeway, seems we fish similar areas. Plenty of trout, some other miscellaneous, but still looking for Reds, Snook, and Tarpon. Let me know if you ever need a deck hand! Best wishes...
We have never saltwater fished before and are going to try on our vacation this year. Trying to decide on a reel size. I have a Daiwa bg 2500 but want a bigger size as well, do you have an opinion on whether a bg 4500, 5000, or 6500?
I live in Florida and I catch tarpons all the time I learned early you cannot use a 50 pound leader Just in case it's not a perfect hook set. If it's in the mouth it's eventually gonna pop And you're gonna lose them My go to is 80

Just kidding love your videos. Plus you fish all my spots so it’s nice to watch local

O.M.G... Yet another entertaining video that I'll stream on my SONY Bravia 4K Smart T.V. as soon as I get home and grab a cold one..! 🍺
Great video , what beach where you fishing from?
Sweet!
Awesome video! Is the bobber just pegged 2-3ft above hook or is it a slip bobber
Slip bobber. It stops at my leader knot which keeps the bait about 5' down
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Awesome stuff dude
Great video! What area do you fish out of?
Nice!
Owner 6/0 Mutu Light is the hook of choice for tarpon in the Sanibel/Captiva area and believe me these boys know how to catch big tarpon!🤘🤘🤘

This dude looks more like a firefighter with that mustache than a fisherman !! 😂
WOOOOOH
What reel are you using? I am looking for a tarpon reel.
What is the rod and reel set up?
Oh Man! As soon as he saw that mustache he broke the line off.
Have a tarpon rod recommendation for about 100$?
Shimano teramar se
I would get the 8 foot x heavy or xx heavy
@@mattc6015 yeah those teramar are nice but the heavier 8ft ones run closer to 200$ than the 100$ I’m looking for.
