He agreed to be filmed on 1 condition: the only lighting was via a single blub on the stage. Great decision. No silly shots of pointless facial gestures
And I Heard a beautiful performance by a young japanese pianist (shunta Morimoto) in 1mn 50sec. But speed is not the first benefit of this work, motion and beauty of song is the first
@@eingooglenutzer1474 i thought the same, but if you look at that video you can see that he starts making mistakes after someone turns the lights on too soon
Richter was capable of fistfuls of wrong notes, just check out all his live performances - there's one Mephisto waltz with like 5 wrong bass octaves in a row. I adore his playing and his inconsistency always gave me hope when I was a student lol.
At 74, he sounded like the young Horowitz, with even more fire and power. He was the most powerful pianist ever. This is Chopin at his most turbulent and fiery. I love Horowitz, but this is incredible.

he was 74 years old on this video...
Wao thanks ^^
He was always young Pianist! 🎶
Genius
He really does play as accurate as everyone says... Amazing.....
Una scarica di energia!!
If richter plays at the speed of modern young concert pianists at that age, then you know how fast he played when he was younger.
He plays it 1mn 36 sec in 1955

I see that someone has voted this down.
I am all for democracy but this just goes to show that not everyone has a musical ear.
This is the very best.

It's far better than that rushed version from practice room. Just a little less impressive, but the interpretation mmm :)

Way better than faster version.
The faster version was way too fast, but this is perfect. Such power and precision. An incredible performance.
갓...
I prefer his version practice is insane !
Brutal, inhumano...
That is inpossible to play. This guy is not human for sure!
