    The candle going out at 2:37 was spooky. The flawless godowsky performance at 2:49 was terrifying

    I've been playing 13 years now and I was practicing Chopin's Revolutionary for 3 years till I got it to today's final version, but it's definitely worth to try, I love Chopin and the Revolutionary is my heart thing

    So musical. The structure of the piece is his priority-- the technique just serves to accomplish his ideas--not a series of tasks or stunts. Fantastic.

      @@demirzengin_ mazeppa is nowhere near the hardest Liszt étude. From the same set there is Feux Follets, and of course from the 1838 Paganini set there is no. 4

    I wish Godowski could have a second version, keeping the same lef hand and adding the right hand to it. How incredibly dificult it would be, but there´s always someone to play...

    I've been playing close to 13 years and can (sortof) work my way through the Revolutionary Etude. That said, the second half of this video is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen on a piano.

    Berezovsky plays with such clarity (and this video's sound quality is great too)... a few other versions on youtube are a bit faster, but I think this is the best version I've seen regardless.
    The Godowsky version is stunning, as well.

    Since childhood I've been heavily leant towards baroque, still am, but naturally I love music; all kinds, heard so many records, seen so many artists, one better than the other but Mr. Berezovsky has brought Chopin and Rachmaninov closer to me simply by playing it. If that is not the gift of music I don't know what is.

    honestly? I liked the second one he played better than the 1st. I like the 1st, but not so much the way he played it, the 2nd was cool, so of this performance, I like the 2nd better.

    • @terrylee6904
      @terrylee6904 10 років тому +13

      I agree the 'second', or the Godowsky transcription is much more controlled, stems from the fact that more concentration and a more even distribution of energy and power is required, where as the right-hand, independently delivers the velocity on its own.
