A beautiful song! My brother was in Iraq and Afghanistan. He suffers from PTSD and has nightmares! He said he cannot un see the things that he saw. He's had counseling and support from other veterans thank God for that.
I have been back from fighting in Vietnam for 52 years, but this song and their rendition of Marc Knopfler's original still tugs at the scars and makes me cry.
This song was Marc Knopfler/Dire Strait's response to the Falklands War in the 80s and in the 40-some years I've been listening to it, it has NEVER failed to bring me to tears no matter who is singing it. Home Free's version is so beautiful and moving. One of their few songs where Adam isn't laying a drumbeat down. (See their rendition of CSN's Helplessly Hoping for the finest example of that.)
Their song titled 'Alabama Sampler ' is an earlier song. A medley of half a dozen of Alabama's big hits and I go back to it often. It's really good. REALLY!

I'm so honored that you chose to react to it today. Having had three brothers of draft age during the Vietnam War, all three were drafted and were returned to our family - just not alive. There are reasons, I believe, for every "random" encounter we have with people during our lifetimes. With that said, I'm very happy to have found your channel, in part for the music and most definitely for your reactions/insights and your genuine kindness's to strangers who find you. Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

This is one of Home Frees' most beautiful covers. It highlights the technical and musical talents and skills of all of them. The music is breathtakingly beautiful making me feel joyous, but then the lyrics are heart wrenching, pulling my heart in two directions. They certainly achieved greatness with this. Yes, this version of Home Free will send shivers through your entire body! This is so emotional, especially with what is happening in Ukraine. Beautifully sung by Tim and Chance, but the background and harmony of Adam, Rob and Austin is also so beautiful. It looks like a choir or actually a kind of church organ sounds. And the whole setting of the video is just amazing. Simple but with so many details that makes it so profound

A great reaction. Not all home free songs are traditional country but they have done covers of many traditional country songs. I'd not heard this song before. This was well done and a great reminder of those who have faced difficulty on behalf of others. For those who have, thanks for your service.
For a little background, back around 2014 there was a TV singing competition show for Acapella groups. Home Free, Pentatonix and VoicePlay emerged from that show and are much loved, each having their own style. Check out VoicePlay doing a cover of "The Dragon Born Comes", from video game Skyrim. Their bass singer is Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci. You will love his bass notes!

Very interesting take on this song. I hadn't heard Home Free before, and they are certainly excellent musicians. I think I still prefer the Dire Straits version --- I really miss the guitar in the acapella. I have great respect for groups that sound so good and so complete when singing acapella though. Loved the Dire Straits original and the album it was on was titled "Brothers in Arms". My 2nd favorite Dire Straits album next to " Love Over Gold". They sound like an old church pipe organ. I'm pretty sure the cemetery scenes were shot at the Veteran's Cemetery near Joshua Tree, Calif.
