Thanks Jonathan. I enjoy your videos. I have 3 cellos and each has two bows in their cases 1 wood and the other carbon fibre. I also have a bow case with 2 extra carbon fibre bows. When I lived in Toronto I went to Remenyi House of music and purchased a bow for my first cello and the sales person took the time to tell me what I should look for in a bow and he mentioned what you said in the video. Every time I buy a new bow, especially if it's a wooden bow, I check to see the curve, as the wood ones tend to get bent out of shape. My newest cello that I bought came with a wooden bow, the store owner who is a retired professional cellist told me that the bow was actually quite good, but it was warped, so he straightened it out for me. When I got home, I checked my other wood bows and one of them was warped, so I sent it in to get straightened. The carbon fibre bows are all fine, a couple of them needed new horsehair as they were thinning or started becoming brittle and loose. They told me that there are tiny bugs inside the case similar to ones that live in carpets that chew on the horsehair, which causes them to break. I had never heard about that before and when I checked my cases, sure enough I found evidence of them. I took the vacuum to the cases and I left the bows outside in the daylight to get rid of them, as they don't like daylight, they thrive in the darkness of the cello cases. Maybe you should do a video on these pesky bugs and how to get rid of them. To re-hair a bow is quite expensive, as I've had to do 4 of them.
lmao! The amount of times he said, "For those of you who do not have a safe place for your bow and then nonchalantly protruded a bow case; Which is pretty much like saying, "MMMMM Gurl, you best treat yo self with a case for yo life curve. How you be, when thus Cello be trying to sing at yo B*^%H a$%, Yow Mean!? Ight, Son. Word." which is how i would have preffered he explained the challenge question.K, Thanx Bye
Congratulations :) It will be frustrating in the beginning because it seems like you just can't make a good sound, but I promise you if you keep going you will not regret it.
I absolutely love that this is unedited. Not something you normally get to see with youtubers but it made it so authentic with the mini mistakes and made me sub :)
Hi Jonathan, I could really use your help! I may have my bow hold really mixed up. Because I find that my hand cramps really easily and I can't play for very long.... Which frustrates me and is disappointing. My left hand is really getting the hang of the fingerboard but it seems my bow hand is falling behind. Any ideas?
Wow, please help. I didn't look at what I was using and I bees waxed the cello bow instead of rosin. Now it won't grab in many areas. I tried to over rosin it to know bees wax off. Can I wash the strings and re apply rosin? I messed it up. Pick on me as much as you want as long as you help me haha

I just noticed the title: 'Handel with care'. Nice pun. 👍😂
Geek humour!
Love your lessons! I learn so much 😀👍🏻
Jonathan: I hang my bows on the wall so they are accessible and decorative. Am I damaging them??
Not at all, Kathleen. Luthiers do the same.

Sounds to me like you might be holding it to tight.
