there's a misconception that Reggie could only play off the ball. As you can see, he's perfectly capable of pulling off moves with the ball at a high level like the 1 or 2 dribble pull up, the step back, up and under moves. It's just that his cardio and speed off the ball was so off the charts, they used his off ball play so he could wear down his defender by making him run all game trying to defend him. You can't underestimate the value of that for a team, and his skillset was translatable to any era. He would've been even better and more impactful in the NBA today. I'd rather have Reggie than someone like Carmelo, who just holds the ball while giving his defender so much time to rest and catch his breath.

      That is exactly the problem
People nowadays only learn about Reggie from people talking about him, and people talking about him tend to talk like spot up shooting is the only thing he does
Like the other guy said, it was just that his off the ball instincts was on a totally different level, and he his ability to run his defender haggard was almost unparalleled at that time, it became the only thing people talk about
Even in his last season, in the Pacers-Nets series, he took the ball all the way to the rim and dunked on like the entire Nets team to tie the game, and still people who have not watched him play say he is a player who cannot create his own shots

Yeah nowadays all the stars of the league want to team up because they don't want to compete. The thing that made the NBA great back then was the fact that there were superstars all over the league that would really go at each other and really wanted to compete. Larry Bird was once asked if he would've loved to have teamed up with MJ and Magic and he said "No! I wanted to BEAT MJ and Magic!" That's what basketball is missing these days.

Look at Reggie driving to the hole for layups, runners and floaters and they say all he did was come off screens and curls for 3 point shots. He had a deadly mid-range game and a could put it on the floor. In today's game he would easily average 25-30 pts a game in this perimeter NBA style of play in the modern era. Back then shooters wasn't respected. With hand checking you could push a shooters hips while he elevated for a jumper, put your foot under his landing space and hit his wrist and elbow and they wouldn't call a foul unless you we're Micheal Jordan 91-98 because he was the leagues money maker just like the NFL protects Tom Brady. Professional Sports have been rigged for years. Its big business because of money. Only Illuminati affiliated players win multiple championships.
