Balled my tungsten on purpose for the first time the other day after your video. Worked good. Usually did the blunt end and let it form how it would but thanks. I liked it and it came out good

Wow, You are clearly a perfectionist. Judging by the few I have seen here your welds look excellent….Perfection .
I have just recently started / attempted Tig on steel only, my first welds are a perfect Mess. Tig is something that looks far easier to do than it is done.

Without a doubt you will be a top top dog in the aluminum game. Anyone that knows how your work is knows this. Keep killing it my brother.

appreciate the content and the work involved 👍
aaron at 6061 says to prioritize the welds you know will be the most visible, and i agree with that, so i would try to get the stops/starts at the sides of the 90s and leave the visible spine of the 90 one continuous weld. maybe weld a small weld at the sides first to get some heat into the part, then weld the spine and try to reach each of the sides to build it up sufficiently like the continuous weld. hard to try to explain with a keyboard..

Good video, keep them coming. Settings are especially helpful (+1 given i just bought a 325x)

make a fixture for the positioner it centers in the port ,toe clap, with a pin inside the runner to center it, do 1 at a time, or 2 screw holes will center it also.
the other side looks like a v block for the big tube ,or if you cope a tube or pin to rest the finger on
clamp it to a runner for a consistent location pivet

Brother you are killing it don't let the fake UA-cam welders tell you any different your welds are great they are as good as they can get free hand. That manifold will be great and handle all the boost.

Really appreciate the effort and time you’re putting into your channel. And appreciate how you’re sharing all the key information. So many other channels are much more vague about things which is frustrating.
I agree that using a flow meter on your torch is the best way to go. Which brand (and model) are you using?

Forgot to mention - I bought a PrimeWeld 325 early last year and really love it too. But bummed about two things: 1. If I would have bought it more recently, I definitely would have used your link to support your channel, and 2. Mine has the older style fan that only runs full blast. Sure wish I had one of the newer 325s with the variable speed fan

Nice work, those are tricky runs to get perfect looking. Maybe it's just how it looks in video, but I was a little surprised you like to ball the tungsten as much as it looks. At your balance settings (granted you are running some strong amperage), I would have thought you could get away with more of a point to really help get into the joint with tighter focus. I didn't catch the tungsten type you're running, but some are definitely more or less tolerant of keeping the point on AC depending on variety.

I’m just now attempting to teach myself how to TIG aluminum and am NO expert by any stretch but yesterday I was trying to weld 1/4” to 1/2” for a project I’m working on. Could have just MIG welded it with my Cobramatic but again, I’m forcing myself to learn how to TIG. I only have a 200 amp TIG welder so I preheated the part to 200* F. While trying to use 2% lanthanated sharpened to a short taper at 200 amps, the tungsten was splitting almost instantly. Switched to 2% ceriated and it held up much better.

Great vid, I can’t join tube to save my life, the arc just flys left and right , do I wait and try and get a pool on the join or do I dab filler ?? No idea 🤷🏻‍♂️

Once again another great video. I do have a question regarding gaps. How do you deal with a gap between material? On the 4x4 square video you posted you pointed out a gap in the fit up but didn’t really explain how you deal with that issue. Do you just keep the tungsten right down the gap and shove extra filler or do you favor the top side and let the puddle drop down to bridge the gap??? So many questions…smh. Once again thanks for posting this video I know there’s a lot of work involved in producing these videos.

Is it not possible to wack the entire part on a positioner to weld the visible welds first?, and then go to free hand on the less visible sections. Still, your about 500% better than i am lol

I am really curious about the end runners having a different radius than the 4 in the center. Not questioning it at all, just curious about the reason. Edit: It also looks like a smaller diameter in another angle in the video
