From memory as a child in the sixties, me and my Dad walked up that Monument via a spiral staircase in the central column. It was quite a challenge considering my Dad was a stocky welder!

Thanks Steve. We thought there must be a staircase inside but the tower was so slender it didn't look like there was room for one. It must be a really tight squeeze 🙏🥾🍺

A lovely walk about . Thanks chatter guys ! I especially love the historical facts etc you put in about Newcastle and i have certainly learned a thing or two . As a recommendation: Betws-y-coed North Wales .
Along the A5 also passes close to Capel Curig and Snowdonia .
All beautiful places with outstanding natural beauty and history . I visit often when i can 😊

My cousin is from ponteland but is in Scotland now did you visit china town we enjoyed there we like Newcastle and England greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 I absolutely hate when there is paving stones and the illegitimate’s fill the repair with tarmac absolutely lazy workmanship
