I love it, but, there again I'm from here ! There are 7 bridges, the footbridge or Millenium Bridge is nicknamed the Winking Eye Bridge, reason being it lifts and tips up for boats to pass under. If you're downriver , near the bend in the river,( in fact the Free Trade in slightly up from the river) as the Bridge opens , you'll see it exactly aligns with the iconic Tyne Bridge , exactly like an eyelid blinking ! Also, the Bridge lights up in multicolour at night 🎉❤

I'm a Southerner, but a proud Newcastle United fan (family & Alan Shearer reasons). Newcastle Upon Tyne is a truly, truly special, beautiful place. The people are wonderful, warm and friendly, proud of their city and welcoming to anyone who comes to enjoy. It's just a lovely place, the architecture and history is incredible, the river Tyne is beautiful, the football club is in my biased opinion, the greatest most passionate in the land, and the nightlife is absolutely incredible. A fantastic place to spend time.

I’m from Middlesbrough and now live I the City of Durham so I’m from the North East region . In essence Newcastle is the largest city and could be said to be the regions capital . I’ve quite a few Geordie pals and Newcastle is an amazing city , very vibrant , it’s buzzing with a lot of history too . One of the best things about Newcastle is it’s people like all North East folk they are friendly , very welcoming you won’t find more friendly folk than this region .
If your young in Newcastle you can have the time of your life too endless bars , clubs , Restaurants as a young man I loved the record shops in Newcastle. There’s plenty to do , I’ve never had a bad night out there .

What an excellent video so well put together and you’ve visited places in Newcastle I’ve never been to and I’m almost 66!
Having said that I do live in Northumberland and the beauty of Newcastle as a City it will take you around 15-20 mins and your at the coast and if your travelling North in around 30-45mins you can be in the countryside with some spectacular scenery so maybe the next time you visit hire a car and travel up the A1 along the coastline and maybe visit Morpeth, Alnwick,Craster, seahouses & Bamburgh (castle) just a thought and a change of scenery. 👍
Up the Toon Army 🖤🤍🖤🤍 and your Girlfriend/ Partner when she says Geordies is very cute you make a lovely couple.
So stay healthy and I wish you nothing but happiness and success. 👍🖤🤍🖤🤍

@JayeshChhaya try Bamburgh too, many Hollywood films made there , Harrison Ford's last Indiana Jones film a couple of years ago was one. To see Bamburgh search UA-cam for Si, the Drone guy & look for his video titled Bamburgh, you won't regret it 😉

The cathedral has a strong connection with Denmark. During WWII danish fishermen were stranded at sea during the occupation. They were taken in by Newcastle and the cathederal would hold cross cultural events. They still hold a danish banquet once a year 👍

The actual metros are very old due to a lack of investment in public transport in the north by the government. We’ll finally be getting new rolling stock next year.

The trains are in the process of being replaced with Swiss built ones. They have same seat configuration as London Tube ones, and crucially have battery back up in the event of power failures therefore passengers won't be stranded

Are you Both married, Nice video to watch if I ever found myself in Newcastle i would visit the discovery museum, One criticism when you stop to read a notice can you please read the notice as much as you can as foreign views we can understand what you saying is what you are reading and maybe follow with a finger, The white and yellow bus in the display case in the discovery museum was known as a trolly bus that run on over head electric cables. Are you planning to do any trips to Wales, please visit Tenby I use to visit this town alot when I was in the UK you will be blown away I loved to hear you reactions to it,

@@stantier2865 York is a nice city and a possible rival to Newcastle. Edinburgh has some nice places but isn't better than Newcastle, it is very expensive and unless you spend a bit of time in the city to find the hidden gems, it's a tourist trap - worse than York... the rest not even close. Don't get me wrong, the cities you name have some good points and places, I love the cosmopolitan feel to some of those cities, the access to the arts and food, but overall they don't compare to Newcastle. Newcastle is a beautiful city with amazing architecture, big enough to have things happening but small enough to keep a friendly vibe, plus really easy access to the countryside and coast. You can't buy two tickets to a great theatre show and have change from £30 in London, you may have better choice but it comes at a cost that is not affordable for a family to see a show monthly.

@@NorthernWayfarer-Alice Absolute nonsense. Overall the wider area of northumberland has more to offer the city of newcastle itself is pretty depressing aside from the waterfront. very little to offer, not particularly cosmopolitan and very little by way of independent enterprise. went in october and had to leave early. other UK cities have a far better offering speaking from personal experience. Liverpool is a far more interesting city than newcastle.

@@JayandKarolina Durham is a lovely city. The cathedral for me has the best interior of all them.
Somewhere else to consider, it is very small in comparison to Newcastle but if you want a true hidden gem that you can reach by rail... check out Berwick, three historically significant bridges, the remains of the medieval castle form part of the station but also down by the river bank, the Elizabethan town walls make a great walk. And it still maintains a number of small independent shops. It is probably the most underrated place in the North East. It wouldn't take long to see everywhere but if you had the time, it is possible to get the bus along to Norham castle or have a stroll north along the coast for cliffs and sea caves or south for 5-7 miles of sand beach.
