I mean... They don't. Hollywood movies now are so consistently generic and it's rare that we see that creative, artistic spark of something that got made just because it was a thing someone wanted to make.
People that say that phrase usually never watch anything outside mainstream Hollywood releases. There are literally several movies that get released every year that blow a lot of people's minds, they just happen to be indie or non-American.
@@christianb572 Looks like an homage to Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits/The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's City Of The Lost Children.
My favorite Alasdair Gray novel! (of the one's I've read) Mr. Lanthimos' interpretation looks to be a lot of fun. It 's wonderful to see a great writer finally celebrated in film. Especially since his most famous book; "Lanark", is one of those, most likely, impossible to film type of books. Can't wait to see it!
I legit love Lanthimos. The Lobster and TKOASD are both great movies. Dogtooth is really good too. He's a true visionary, dare I say even an auteur. He has his unique style and that's not something you can say about the majority of mainstream directors today.
I think Emma is a really good fit with Yorgos Lanthimos, she was also in The Favorite. I really like his work because it is absurdist but not the point of Wes Anderson where its like every character is more defined by their quirks than any real character development. Its like the plot is absurdist but the characters are genuine and human.
If you haven't seen The Favorite, The Killing of the Sacred Deer, and The Lobster then you just might like them, Lanthimos is I guess still very much an indie/arthouse director, while the plots are rather absurdist the characters are still genuine, very smart film writing/directing.
This looks different! Mixed emotions on this film trailer. Not sure what to expect. Ya know what? As a Horror Writer,I like it. Bring it. Always seeking new creative inspiration. Looking forward to watching this and leaving a review. 💙 🖤
It's hilarious how we don't need Willem Dafoe look-alikes because he'll act in just about any movie if asked to and show up anywhere people ask him to 😂
I haven't been this confused and intrigued since I saw a single dr Who episode from 1985, when I was only 12 years old and hadn't so much as heard of the BBC.
Willem Dafoe is the Doctor Frankenstein/Frankenstein Monster combo we never knew we wanted. This looks amazing.
Willem Dafoe's movie choices are superlative... Starting with his work in To Live and Die in LA 1985
That's probably the reference to the misconception of the public they are one thing😂
My thoughts exactly
This looks like a movie that perfectly defines the type of movie that people say "they don't make them like that anymore". It looks awesome.
I mean... They don't. Hollywood movies now are so consistently generic and it's rare that we see that creative, artistic spark of something that got made just because it was a thing someone wanted to make.
@@2501vai That's literally what OP just said?
Lmao no. This is way more unique than the movies those people are talking about
They've never made movies like that.

Whether this turns out to be awesome or awful, I so appreciate the level of risktaking here.
Pedophile risk taking? Sick.
It's like a Tim Burton film from back when he did imaginative original stuff and didn't just make bad copies of better movies.
I personally thought the aesthetic is more of that of a Terry Gilliam film.
@@christianb572 YES Terry Gilliam. I was trying to remember his name as comparison, especially the shots of the city scape
Looks like the creativity of Big Fish or something
Creativity? More like making stupid stuff.

Me just finding out that Kodak have a UA-cam channel.
Long live Kodak film!!! vive la difference
Yes.🙏.
I wouldn't mind if KODAK became an independent film studio.
Unfortunately they need money first
KODAK rules always.

All of Lanthimos' movies have fantastic scores. This one especially.
Born Sexy Yesterday, derived from Shelley's Frankenstein and Hoffman's Sandman.
Yargos always has something gold to show us. Stoked!
que bizarra película ,ese Yorgos hace películas extrañas 🤭🤭🤭
This looks so good on so many levels
This looks awesome :D

Looks bloody fantastic
0:21 crazy lense with a lovely bokeh!
This might be the best looking movie this year.
this is a movie that I want to see!!! Emma stone goes in a really great path, she picks up artistic good quality projects.

Wow. Major Terry Gilliam vibes. Looks great!
Exactly what I thought!

Yorgos Lanthimos embracing his weirder side, which was always there, but looks like he turned it up to eleven on this one. Can't wait.
I want to watch it on 70mm so much.
I immediately went to look for the audiobook and sadly none exists. This. Looks. BRILLIANT!
We need one narrated by Willem Dafoe
Tim Burton, Jeunet & Caro, The Addams Family, Wes Anderson... all put into a blender.
Cool duck dog at the beginning
I had a fever dream like this before
Just started the book and so far it is great!
Wonderful movie.
This looks phenomenal!
Very Wes Anderson looking
Finally a new Tim Burton film
I’m pissing laughing thank you
😂
Or a Warner Bros and Sister Movie 😉🙃
However, it looks good! And crazy! 🎉
Nope because no Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter inside it😂
The VISUALS look fantastic
Cinematography looks pretty EPIC!!!...
This movie looks like it is going to be weirdly interesting and different in a good way.
I'm interested! Whatever the story ends up being, it's different, and the cinematography is beautiful!!!
It's different alright, it's a pedophile movie.
Looks like if Tim Burton and Wes Anderson created a movie
Agree
Or just terry gilliam
Omg I clicked on this video thinking it was a new Lorde single ..

This movie should be really cool, and fun. I will definitely watch it.

He's a legend.
The best kind of actor. He’s covered a wide variety of genres.
that sound!
That’s my kind of movie :)
looks so artsy
I'm sure I'll grow to like it just as I did Birdman.
👍
It's kinda like a remake of Young Frankenstein only difference is the creation is a beautiful young woman. That changes everything.
This looks really good.
Finally… a good movie…
"Not a Wes Anderson movie." - New York Times
The quirky music at 0:26 is so delightfully demented.
Girl boss! Novel concept!
Kodak when are you going to release your “new” super 8 camera? It’s been 7 years!
Just immediately wholly original.
Books great too- Alasdair Gray
This director, with this cast? I’m in 👍
Looks perfect like lighthouse.
Wow
I WANT TO WATCH THIS ASAP
I’m liking this
👍
Now things need to be weirder in order to compete with the current market. Just imagine how weird things will get in the future.
I have noticed a lot of really unique movies in the last few years. Even the mainstream superhero movies have some trippy elements. And TV too.
My Fair Frankenstein
cool you got to post this trailer on the kodak account. pls lower film prices now
👍❤️
Ah…Kodak? Hell yes!
That looks dope
I haven't been this confused and intrigued since I saw a single dr Who episode from 1985, when I was only 12 years old and hadn't so much as heard of the BBC.
At this point Lanthimos has the freedom to do anything he likes and that's a Nolan-type freedom!
Now this looks interesting!
I immediately thought... is this a Tim Burton Film? 🤔No, it isn't but I have to say it sure looks wonderfully done!
Kodak is awesome.
Looks super cute
🎉
1:07 love the streetcar named desire reference (i think??)
That is the Men In Black font! I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!!!
As the man said...
Oh.
Lanthimos is so weird. It's great
Thats what i call it Art that's what movies should be.
This feels like a lucid dream
This seems the kind of movie Tim Burton used to make when he was still Tim Burton.
What lens was used for 0:21, I wonder? Maybe a vintage Helios lens or a something similar?
Emma better win the Oscar for this one.
WOW I need to see this
