damn true . never thought of that . has wwe promoted that. youngest wwe champ brock 25 vs youngest world champion randy 24. although Lou thesz is the youngest world champion of all time ever at age 21
Brock vs HHH was absolutely the right way to go for SummerSlam 2012. Brock and HHH were the two biggest stars going into that PPV. It was Brock Lesnar, a proven PPV draw, going up against HHH in HHH's first match back since WrestleMania. The anticipation for Brock/HHH was much higher than the triple threat, with Show bringing the match down as well as everyone already knowing that Punk was gonna win. If Punk/Cena/Show would have ended that show, it would have ended on such a flat note. Brock beating HHH clean (I'm pretty sure that the low blow finish was at Extreme Rules, not in this match) and breaking Triple H's arm in a good match was a much better way to end the show, then if Punk were to retain.
What about the time jbl beat up the blue meanie? Or the double turn between steve austin and bret? Or the time daniel puder nearly broke kurt angles arm?
I remember reading that Austin was injured so had to drop the belt at s slam but they didn't want Jesse ventura raise the hand of a heel. So they inserted Foley in .
Warrior didn't hold Vince up for money. Warrior requested more money, among other things, WEEKS prior. Vince not only agreed to it, but seemed to have no problem doing it. Warrior even used the document in which Vince did this against them in court.
That feel when you hear Simon's voice and immediately click like so hopefully WhatCulture realizes what a cool guy they have and should be giving him a raise.
"Losing to Cena" is barely enough on the subject. Losing after TWO MOVES and having delivered a 20 minute clinic on stiffness to Cena. THE crowning "LOLCENAWINS" moment of all LOLCENAWINS moments.
why? You don't want Orton vs Lesnar? I prefer Balor vs Rollins myself but if that one or Ambrose vs Ziggler main event it it's gonna seem like one title is better than the other hence why they're gonna bring back the brand exclusive PPVs the first one's gonna be Backlash for Smackdown so yeah it's pure logic mate
***** Yeah. Not like he was dangerous to work with or anything. Not like he ended Bret's career after Bret said, "don't hurt me". Not like he admitted to not caring about wrestling in general. Not like he fails to wrestle just 5 minutes.
In fairness to WWE, the IWC tends to look at the Goldberg situation with the benefit of hindsight, which makes the decision to job him look much worse. The narrator talks like he was the most exciting thing in the company, but he was being audibly booed during programs with The Rock and Jericho, and didn't have a ton of momentum behind him going into the show. Having him run through everyone in the Chamber got a great pop, but it was hardly a sure thing that the fans would get behind him like that, so I don't blame WWE if they were hesitant to run with him on top. Fuck HHH though. If he was hurt, take the belt off of him.
The reason WWE didn't put the belt on Goldberg was because Vince asked him to Take Triple H's spot on an Australian Tour because he was injured, and Goldberg said no. So I find it hard to sympathize with Goldberg or say he was a complete victim. Even though the should've taken the title off Triple H because he was hurt
This list doesn't make sense - for some of these he is suggesting that they got the Main Event wrong because of what happened the next day or at the next payperview... WTF thats stupid - No shit, tittles are going to change hands at the following payperviews or the next night after a pay-per-view --- thats WWE in a nutshell - how is that getting the main event wrong. WTF are you guys thinking over at what culture - are you running out of list?
+John Smith Benoit v Orton was a great match and Orton was great as face in 2004 BUT the 2003 elimination chamber match was crap: short but boring, slow and with a terrible end
Because booking decisions are the most important thing when evaluating matches IMO, more so than the match quality itself. Benoit-Orton was a prime example. Not only was that match poorly booked going in - as a recall it basically had a one week build due to Orton winning a battle royal, the result was wrong was Orton was not ready for the spot as the video said, and Benoit's title run was wasted. Dude just spent the last 5 months beating the likes of HHH, HBK, and Kane, yet a guy who basically was still a rookie at the time and HHH's lackey can beat him for the title, after one RKO no less? Just horrendous booking. And on top of that Orton, the fans weren't invested enough into Orton yet, so when HHH turned on him the next night, no one cared. That's getting the main event wrong.
+John Smith I agree with not including those ones but that doesn't automatically make them idiots, sometimes people with no points whatsoever that call others idiots are the idiots themselves
You can't say they got the main-event wrong by what happened the next night or at the next pay-per-view - thats fucking stupid... Not sure if you remember but, the Orton feud made sense because it wasn't Chris Benoit vs Triple it was Chris Benoit vs Evoluiton for months - so in theory there was a build to that match started at Wrestlemania XX. It made total sense! What happened the next night on raw was great... Triple H and Evolution jumped randy and the crowed ate it up. What culture just has a Vendeda against anything related to Triple H or Stephanie.
Regardless of what Simon says about Benoit vs. Orton, the match itself was amazing, the handshake between Orton and Benoit, and the emotion that Orton had made it the highlight of the whole PPV.
I agree. great match great ending. it was actually a wrestling match not just setting up big spot after big spot and kicking out of finisher bullshit like today
Hogan must of said this before every tag match he set up: "LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING BROTHER, WHEN I SLAMMED ANDRE THE GIANT I REALIZED THAT WE NEED A NEW HULKSTER WHEN THE HULKSTER IS LONG AND GONE AND THATS BRUTUS BEEFCAKE. THE MACH MAN MIGHT HAVE SLIM JIMS BUT BEEFCAKE HAS THE HAIR"

Honestly i loved Orton winning at Summerslam, set up an amazing story that only fell on a dud because Vince screwed up in pushing Orton. Started as an awesome Orton vs HHH feud for sure with some memorable moments.
Completely disagree with Benoit/Orton being on this list. Nobody would remember or care about a Triple H/Benoit rematch. Orton/Benoit was different, new, refreshing, and made the story told unique. And the match was one of the best, in my opinion, in Summerslam history.
as far as Undertaker vs. "Undertaker" goes . . . . 1. Those skits where Leslie Drebin) was searching for the Undertaker were funny 2. Even with lifts in the boots, Brian (Harris) Lee is legit a couple inches shorter than Mark Callaway (and they're real life cousins as well) 3. They both did the best they could . . . .
Seth Rollins vs John Cena had the opportunity to make a double turn, John Cena heel turn and Seth Rollins face turn on the same night, that would've been awesome
The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar fight definitely should have been the main event of that Summerslam. Idc if Cena vs Seth was for the title, both matches ended terribly anyway so it doesn't matter. Lesnar vs Undertaker was one of the most anticipated rematches of all time. And honestly, they had such great chemistry that every time they fought each other, it was pure gold. Match definitely should have ended differently but I still think it was 10 times more anticipated then the title belt.
2003... Triple H was injured, so they cobbled together the Elimination Chamber to have a title match at SummerSlam involving HHH doing as little as possible. They held off until Unforgiven (not Vengeance) because they wanted Goldberg to win the title in a singles match. Not really an instance of them getting it wrong.
The problem was Goldberg got pinned. They were setting him up to have a second undefeated streak only for Hunter to pin him and take away his momentum.
Everyone but the winner gets pinned in an Elimination Chamber match. Plus, a rehash of The Streak sounds like it would've been awful, so I have no qualms about the way they did it. Set up the match for Unforgiven nicely.
Not to sound too picky, but Goldberg defeated Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship at Unforgiven 2003. Not Vengeance. Also I think it has been addressed that the reason the SummerSlam main event was made a triple threat match was because WWE did want to put the title on Triple H but once they got Jesse Ventura to be special referee. they decide that it wouldn't make sense to have the governor of Minnesota raising the hand of a new heel champion to end the show and that's why they just waited til the next night to give HHH the belt.
in 2003, Unforgiven followed Summerslam, not Vengeance. Though the fact that Goldberg went over on HHH at said mis named event is accurate. That oopsie of a fact aside, I love Whatculture countdowns top 10's. Some will obviously find issues with everything, but these guys enjoy themselves obviously and more often than not, they are spot on with their assessments/opinions, if you ask me. And they're funny and entertaining to boot. You want poorly structured articles/videos? its called therichest.com. Whatculture is doing just fine. Keep on doing what you're doing fellas!
The 1999 SummerSlam main event result was changed because of Ventura being shit on in the press, not because of Austin. Austin needed to have knee surgery and lost clean to Triple H at No Mercy two months later. The 2003 SummerSlam main event was originally Triple H Vs. Goldberg. I remember they announced it at a press conference and showed it on RAW, as they got closer to SummerSlam Goldberg and Triple H were both working hurt and wouldn't be able to put on a main event match thus changing it to a Elimination Chamber match.
I was only 9 at the time but I actually really enjoyed Orton's win. I thought the build up was great with Triple H not being able to get the title back off Benoit for so long and Orton earning a shot. Triple H basically told him to just wear him down. The match itself was great too and gave the feel that anyone can beat anyone if they wrestle the perfect match and catch the other person off guard
Mabel had no business in any main event or in a world title scenario. How does that match between the Hart brothers not get the main event slot? That was a hot feud!
10.) Hogan Vs. Zeus was the money match. They should've booked it at the event regardless of how bad the workrate was going to be. 9.) Orton Vs. Vacant was the right call since they wanted to make RKO The Face Of WWE. Of course, creative dropped the ball by being impatient with him following this PPV. 8.) The Match Made In Hell was great because we got to see Hogan & Warrior team up on PPV, which was also in The Garden. Workrate isn't everything. 7.) Lesnar Vs. Helmsley was a dream match for many plus Triple H lost the first round by TAPPING OUT! You're delusional if you actually think the filler triple threat match should've gone after it! 6.) I was actually in attendance for this. The Elimination Chamber should've had 5 minute intervals and while I wasn't a Goldberg fan at the time (due to his reportedly bad attitude backstage), him losing that match in front of a red hot Phoenix crowd was one of the worst business decisions made by WWE. It ruined a lot of Bill's momentum so when he did win back the Big Gold Belt at Unforgiven the next month, the victory wasn't as meaningful. Angle Vs. Lesnar should've gone on last anyway. It was the better match. 5.) I was okay with The Nexus losing at the time because I was under the impression Wade Barrett was going to become the WWE Champion to make up for it. WWE killed off what could've been their version of the nWo, but hey, McMahon is allergic to money. 4.) Lesnar Vs. Undertaker was the right call, but it was the bigger match, but Undertaker going over was not. He got his stupid win (a rising star should've beaten Lesnar) back so WWE could book the rubber match nobody in general wanted. 3.) It was cool Foley got to win the belt, but it only happened because Austin didn't want to do the honors for Helmsley. And people wonder why The Game went to bury almost every talent in the years to come. 2.) This infuriates me to no end. Hart Vs. Hart is one of the greatest steel cage matches in WWE history and they end it up with Undertaker Vs. Underfaker, which went over like a fart in church. 1.) Diesel Vs. Mabel would've worked if it happened in 1985 because fans back then would've cared. Diesel's WWF Championship reign was terrible due to him having a lack of good heel opponents. They should've just booked the Diesel Vs. Michaels Wrestlemania rematch, but logic is hard to find in WWE creative.
Triple H vs Lesnar should've been the damn Main event in 2012.There was such a good build up to it and it was the first time two legends like themselves faced off. Nobody wants to see some boring triple threat between the big show, cena, and punk.Next, how can you think last years main event was wrong?! It was a match where Undertaker got his chance to avenge the streak being broken. Lastly, the 2004 Summerslam main event wasn't wrong either because it was supposed to start the whole storyline of evolution disbanding and that all culminated with the Batista vs HHH match at Wrestlemania.
Summerslam 2017 Brock lesnar vs randy orton wwe had two other matches that could be the main event aj styles vs john cena and finn balor vs Seth rollins
+WhatCulture Wrestling Goldberg didn't take the belt from HHH at Vengeance in 2003; it was Unforgiven. Vengeance was a SmackDown PPV in 2003 that happened in June.
The reason the match was changed from HHH vs Goldberg to the Elimination Chamber was because Triple H had injured his groin and they wanted to protect him and give him time to heal. (Hence why when HHH was released from his pod, Shawn Michaels kicked him in the pod and he stayed down until it was just him and Goldberg.
man, if triple h wasnt such a dick, orton would be the biggest name in wrestling. most of his potential pushes were buried by double h helmsley's golden shovel. still love the guy tho.
They pushed him a bit too early with the first title run, but (as a tween at the time) I thought when HHH turned Evolution against him and it was Randy against the world it was cool. They screwed up big-time when they pushed him aside in favor of Batista. That rise of Batista might have paid off in the short term, but Orton would've paid off for more than a decade. Granted, Randy has had his wellness issues and surely isn't totally innocent when it comes to politicking, but absolutely the evisceration of Evolution should have led to him getting the biggest push; he got the worst push. (Flair doesn't even count at that age.)
I bet The 1st Time Roman Came Out To Confront Rusev I Bet He was like OH SH** I'm Gonnna Get BOOOED SO BAD .....😤🤔 Maybe I should Do Better Promos Yeah ...... *Cheered ...... I'm cheered? IM CHEERED!!!!! HELLL YEAH
Re: I couldn't stand Orton in 04 because he was so green at the time, but people were definitely behind him and ready to accept him as Champion. Plus as much as WWE treated Benoit like a placeholder champion, Orton was getting great reactions and probably had more of an upside. This wasn't a bad move at all. Taker and Lesnar was very well done and (other than it being a bit unbelievable that the timekeeper saw Taker tap) I wouldn't change anything about it.
If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is around to hear it, does Kevin Nash still get injured?

Why didn't the time keeper ring the bell when Jon Stewart attacked Cena?
WWE LOGIC
The ref has to signal
But the time keeper ring the bell when he saw Taker tap out, without getting a singnal from the ref.... On the same event...
WWE LOGIC
+Cuauhtli Ruiz (CAMA) this screwjob is bigger than Montreal! Maybe even when Ligero screwed Kirby...
Same reason Macho Man could crush Ricky .steamboat's throat with the ring bell - because its there.

Orton vs who?
Someone is the champion that time.. Who vs randy ORTON

The Perfect Storm was a great match, too. But I still think world title matches should be the main event.
I'm gonna go on record and say that Big Simon is now the #1 WhatCulture personality! Seems like a great guy and he delivers the videos so well!
I love Simon and Adam B, but honestly Simon is actually getting better than Adam, Adam can sometimes be quite tacky

The Elimination Chamber was booked because if I remeber rightfully Triple H was injured and could only do light stuff.
Fair enough, but he shouldn't have won.
+ColonelJak95 And Goldberg should never have been allowed in the ring. The world isn't perfect.

yeah they paired them together as they were both returning as they couldn't fit them anywhere else so they made a match between them
Sometimes you don't need a good story line, they have a long history together and are both great wrestlers
Orton Lesnar match is a few years late than it should be, I wouldn't do hhh Lesnar 2 instead put these 2 ahead schedule

In my opinion there's absolutaly no problem with The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar in 2015 and Chris Benoit vs Randy Orton 2004!
Anyone know the background music from 0:40 on?
Isaiah McKnight as an avid hip-hop & wrestling fan, it sounds like (my guess, nothing factual yet) a beat produced by 9th wonder!!!

The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar fight definitely should have been the main event of that Summerslam. Idc if Cena vs Seth was for the title, both matches ended terribly anyway so it doesn't matter.
Uncle_Salty91 Awful or not, the streak got Goldberg over.
Yeah, five years previously in a totally different company. An uninspired retread would have done nobody any favours.
Agree totally about Undertaker vs Undertaker - it was awesome at the time...
in 2003, Unforgiven followed Summerslam, not Vengeance.
Two Simon videos today, happy days!
Its sad that WWE never got behind Benoit as champion because he put on great matches.
Ex WCW guy. Though they treated Eddie like a saint.
The worst thing in 'SummerSlam' would be ... 'SummerSlam!' That Simple.
speaking of summerslam, do 10 things wwe wants you to forget about summerslam
You could've subbed out Mabel for a bowl of pudding, and the match would've immediately become better.
No Holds Barred was NOT a failure! Love that shit.
WWE sure loves there tag team match main events at Summerslam.
Love this channel
I wonder if whatculture will ever do a "ten times wwe got it right" video?.... probably when hell freezes over.
WWE ALWAYS loves to get every main event wrong...
am I the only who won't watch these videos unless Adam is doing them???
I was only 9 at the time but I actually really enjoyed Orton's win. I thought the build up was great with Triple H not being able to get the title back off Benoit for so long and Orton earning a shot. Triple H basically told him to just wear him down. The match itself was great too and gave the feel that anyone can beat anyone if they wrestle the perfect match and catch the other person off guard
Benoit vs Orton was awesome
Benoit vs Orton was a classic
Mabel had no business in any main event or in a world title scenario. How does that match between the Hart brothers not get the main event slot? That was a hot feud!
what culture should be one of the best channeks in UA-cam they make a class content
*****
Do you kiss your sister with that mouth? The sister that you have a kid with you fucking incest loving freak.
It's Simon O' Clock! It was not Vengeance where Goldberg and Triple H won in 2003 and 2004 respectively. It was Unforgiven!
"oh shit, here come Deebo, give me your stuff"
Notice from Summerslam 2010... Darren was the first one eliminated and he is probably the most successful member still in WWE...
Last time I was this early Chris Beniot was still mentioned by WWE
benoit vs orton 04 is my fave match of all time, everyone should watch that.
Summerslam 2017 Brock lesnar vs randy orton wwe had two other matches that could be the main event aj styles vs john cena and finn balor vs Seth rollins
8:00 What a dab from Razor Ramon
lol xd
+WhatCulture Wrestling
Goldberg didn't take the belt from HHH at Vengeance in 2003; it was Unforgiven. Vengeance was a SmackDown PPV in 2003 that happened in June.
If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is around to hear it, does shawn michaels still lose his smile?
I miss the days when every video on youtube didn't just have the same 5 comments
Suprise Lex Luger and Yokozuna didn't on the list. Lex Luger, next babyface of WWF, win via countout. XD
Very spot on!
Summerslam 2016 Lesnar and orton didn't live to expectations
Simon, ask Al Snow how that spine buster from brock felt
Most of these are just Triple H being the damn gravedigger.
man, if triple h wasnt such a dick, orton would be the biggest name in wrestling. most of his potential pushes were buried by double h helmsley's golden shovel. still love the guy tho.
+Neil Delos Santos not in 2009 though, that was Cena, Orton actually won his rivalry against HHH, just for some goddamn reason lost at WM 25...
The Worst summer slam main event ever was Summer slam 2016. Because if it's ending. I mean seriously a TKO. And the way it happened just disgusting.
I'm thinking the tag team stuff with Hulk was for him to save face, and refuse to lose to guys like Warrior and Savage.
The reason I clicked on this video so early, were to see if their were any "last time I was this early" comments...
