    Budget tyres all round indicates the previous owner probably didn't look after it as well as one would hope. On a used car the tyres are a give away as to how the previous owner approached maintenance. That's not to say this is not a good buy. Just giving my thoughts. Thank you for the video

    I’ve got a 2016 F31 MSport B47 with 177k on it at the moment regular oil changes 8-10k or every year and they go on for ever, one thing to check is that you have the N47 which is not the most reliable when it comes to timing chains.

    I've owned the same car, 2015 320d Touring and happily racked up 260,000 miles. I then went to a 430d and stuck a 100,000 miles on it before switch to a Mercedes C300. I've got rid of the Merc after 40,000 miles and 14 months and traded it for a M440i. I get why people like Merc's and Audi's but in my experience with a bit of love and regular servicing the BMW will literally go on forever and stand up to most abuse. Cracking cars and as safe a punt as you will ever make.

Now done nearly 70K. Just a small thing but there is a specific place to store the alloy locking nut key - on the right (rather than the left) of the lift up boot floor. I’d rather have a properly maintained high mileage car than something that’s just been used by Nan to pop to the shops all its life… I daily drive a Volvo C30 D5 with 160k on the clock, it’s absolutely pristine with extensive service history and it drives faultless, I’ve covered 1.5k in the last month alone. It’s serviced twice a year, not that it entails much on a D5.

    These are great cars! I’ve ran a f31 335d touring for nearly 6 years & it’s fantastic. They do really need the 6 cylinders though to get the full experience, it’s in a different league to the 4 cylinder (had an f10 520d before it) & the 6 is not that much worse with regards to economy. Also I don’t think you really need the steering wheel paddles in everyday driving because the ZF auto box is so good. Personally I’d refurb the wheels, never understood the black wheel thing to be honest it makes the car look like someone has stolen the wheel trims! 🤣

      @@gavinb5784 My car has only 57000 on the clock & has full dealer history so I believe it’ll be 5w30. However with my low annual mileage BMW say it only needs changed every 2 years but I like to get mine changed annually, generally at MOT time.
      I’m a great believer in premium fuel as well at least every second fill up, I’ve never had any dpf, egr or injector issues, which is a concern doing lower mileage but gives me an excuse to give it a good blast every 2 or 3 weeks 😇🤣

    I'm currently driving an F30 67 reg 335D X Drive M Sport Auto with the 3 Litre engine with 630Nm of torque and 313 bhp. Pulls like an absolute train and is stupidly fast for what is essentially just a "normal saloon". Not too bad fuel wise, lowest I've seen so far is about 22 Mpg but that was on a spirited drive and pushing it hard, best I've seen so far is 43 Mpg on a 50 mile motorway run, which is quite impressive from a 3 litre car. Good fun to drive and wish I'd got one sooner!
    Mine also came with the smaller 6.5 inch display but I've recently bought the 8.8 inch "pro nav" touchscreen and will be fitting that and coding it in.
    Only downside is it came with runflat tyres, just had to have the front two replaced but by the time the back two need doing the fronts will probably be worn too, so I'll replace all 4 with non RFT, probably Michelin Pilot Sport 4's.

    Amazing condition for the mileage.

    miles guess is 190k ,
    The diesel 320d and up are the best engines, as long as you look after them,own two bmw 3 and a 5 series would not change them but wouldn’t recommend them 😹 sensor problems , but wouldn’t drive anything but bmw or Mercedes if you look after them they can do lots off miles I’d one with over 220k
    Never give bother only sold as body work was awful 🤷‍♂️

    All the way through I had 168,000 in my head so not far off. But that wasn’t based in the condition of the car, just that I thought for the money you paid and for how nice the car is it had to be above 150,000 but not quite 200,000
    Nice buy by the way. How reliable did it turn out to be in the end?

    170K? Someone has given it a detailed clean! Seriously, as long as it has some maintenance history it will be good for another 50K without too many eye watering bills. Good family car or rep mobile, just not my cup of tea.

    It's a nice car, but I couldn't buy a premium brand car brand new without speccing it out at least moderately. This seems very bare bones.

    • @williamegler8771
      @williamegler8771 2 роки тому +4

      It was probably bought new by someone who was trying to impress people they will never meet by driving a vehicle from a premium brand.
      When in reality they probably stretched their automotive budget to the maximum and couldn't afford to add any options.

    I guessed 185k. Looks like a bloody bargain at that money, and very tidy for the mileage. I'm with you on the tyre sidewall preferences, mahoosive wheels and low profile tyres aren't suited to our crappy roads.

    I guessed 95,000 - way off the mark. The car looks great for what you want it for - shame about the tractor engine, chavvy privacy glass and black wheels but, hey, it should do the job pretty well. My major concern would be only 5 service stamps for a 171,000 mile car -particularly a BMW diesel. I suppose you'll just have to hope it's had more oil changes which haven't been recorded.

    • @gavinb5784
      @gavinb5784 2 роки тому

      What engine oil type and viscosity you suggest for the F31 if it's high mileage already? 5w30 or 5w40 or 10w40? 120K+ miles?

      @saddoncarrs6963 2 роки тому +1

      @@gavinb5784 Sorry, mate, can't help - I'm a tyre kicker, not a mechanic. All I know is that proof of 5 services over 171,000 miles equates to a service every 34,000 miles, which is not good.
