I’m definitely not an expert in the technology… my surface pro 3 just went into a sleep mode I couldn’t turn it on. Followed this video and did all the steps I was almost getting ready to put it in the freezer when it came back to life!! Thanks for sharing this tips
Thank you so much. I didn't have to put my unit in the ref (last tip). I think the massaging, tapping and a light smacking did the job. 😊 Great tips. Keep up the good work!
Wow, banging on it actually worked! I was desperate. I never thought of banging on a computer. Thank you very much. Mine is a Surface Pro 3, but banging and pressing worked and is not specific to the various different models
Unfortunately, this fix and any other fix it's temporary only!!! Sooner or later you'll encounter again this problem. It's not new to Microsoft, it's just the way they do business. They know about this issue, but they don't care, this has been around since Surface Pro 2 going on... It's a great device, but they care more about marketing and sales rather than the customers. I will never buy a Microsoft product again! Their customers service is terrible as well. The culprit is a tiny magnetic microswich inside the tablet, about 1/2 inch away from the right side edge, if you're tablet is on... Try yourself with a tiny magnet, place it around the right hand side speaker, a little below it, you'll see the screen goes off, if the microswich is working properly... The screen comes back on right after removing the magnet. The problem is the battery, in time it swallows and is pushing against the motherboard, the microswich is so tiny that 1 micron of expansion due to the heat or swallowing battery it's enough to change the behavior. Some temporary ways might work, especially with pushing down the screen, you are basically pushing against the battery, you are flattening it down, so the motherboard goes back to it's original state... But eventually battery will swallow again, and usually expands more and more with time. Pretty much the Surface series could be associated with the a few years ago Samsung Note 7 bursting in flames one of a sudden issue. They packed the battery way to tight, they never left any room for expanding and contracting, it's well known that a PC warms up quite a bit... But sales needs to keep going... This whole problem could have been avoided, if everything was the same, but the thickness would have been 1mm greater so the battery in time would have room to expand without putting any pressure on the motherboard and causing the microswich to malfunction. The only real fix, is to take it apart and replace the battery, and for a permanent fix would be to find the magnetic microswich and short it out in such manner that the LCD would be on all the time and won't ever go off even after closing the type cover keyboard. At 03:05 you are tapping on the right spot, that's where the magnetic microswich it's underneath the LCD. That microswich it's the culprit, unfortunately it is not an analog microswich only... It's not like magnet on, magnet off... LCD goes on and off... If you turn on the tablet, while displaying the Microsoft logo, if you bring the keyboard close to the LCD, the screen doesn't goes off until the system is up, that's for about 3 or 4 seconds, it not like your regular push button, or like your fridge at home, door open... Light on, door closed, light off... Unfortunately it's mechanical, but it's more complicated than 2 wires put together... They should have went with a proximity sensor... Something similar to your phone screen, only goes off while on call and in the proximity of your ear, or hand... But they went with this type of microswich and they have been doing it since forever. The only way to avoid this is to never buy any Microsoft product. Sooner or later battery is getting more and more thick, this problem would occur more often. The microswich if defective, or it's getting defective due to the heat and battery expansion, the screen doesn't turn on, because the tablet thinks that the type cover (keyboard) is on always, even if there's no keyboard attached to it, that microswich gives false / inaccurate reading.
I never comment but you helped me out sooo much... I watch this video 3 or 4 times when I did everything like 20 times I was like f it ill put it in the freezer for 15mn... I though it was so st up id..I'd... but it worked
Should the windows logo show up regardless? My screen "lights" up, but its functionally black. The windows logo doesnt show up for any of these methods so far
OMG It worked. I tried all these things 5 times. They did not work. So I put it in the freezer for 20 minutes. Took it out from the freezer. Dried it off. It worked. Sounded like a crazy idea, but that did it. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. I was ready to buy a new computer.
It worked for me but went back off. Tried it again and it come one again and went back off and now it’s not coming on anymore. Please is there any more advise?
A friend of mines charging port is messed up. She said she thinks there is a way to charge through the keyboard connection. Does that make any sense to you?
I held the power on button for 2 days and still not coming on. Pushing the fingers for 2 more days on screen didn't help either. Should I try with hammer?
Hi, i tried all that but it still didn’t work, the problem is that i see no windows icon or anything at all and i know that the computer is on cause it’s hot and the keyboard is lightning up when i press the on button I don’t understand what’s the problem i was using it then suddenly it froze then here i an with a black screen, please tell me how can i fix that?

Did it work? I'm in the same boat.
@@tillerdogg3232 not at all. I believe Microsoft should be liable for this malfunction is a products defect
@@tillerdogg3232 with so many people having the same issue maybe we should talk to an attorney about a class action lawsuit for damages
@@z.hillaryharris4764 no shit. My warranty is obviously expired. They charge $340 to fix it or replace it with a refurbished one.
@@tillerdogg3232 oh they do?
I mailed my in and they sent it back. Where do you call? And yes...we should save our receipts. Its a defective product
thx man !!!!
