Monk is my comfort series. Even if it is about homicide, when life is tough or I'm sick, I feel like I'm visiting family and I'm with people that understand..
Same here! When it was on TV people thought I was odd for staying home on Friday nights to watch a detective show. I was younger and in school still so that's why people thought that but I didn't care. What Monk said about his favorite show is similar to how I felt about Monk. If I made it to Friday night I'd be alright.
That moment you realize the Captain saved Randy's life by not letting him have the bottle of Port... this chick took a lot of chances with her plan. Things couldve gone wrong and someone else couldve drank from that bottle. What if Terry shared it with someone?
My personal guess is she is so psychopathic she didn’t care how many other people died as long as her target died and she wasn’t suspected. I’m sure she knew there was a chance he might share the drink or even that the Captain might give it to someone else or even just take it home before the Christmas Party. I’m sure she chose the Captain because she knew he personally didn’t like port, but if he had given to Randy or Karen, or if her target had taken it home and shared it with his wife and/or best friend, I get the impression she wouldn’t have cared much about the “collateral damage.” And my guess is she had 3 or 4 backup plans to make sure her target died, and even if say Karen had died instead she could have used that as a distraction to make it look like additional deaths were related because someone was trying to kill the Captain. That is one of the scariest of all killers - the person who is so numb and selfish and desperate and psychopathic that they have basically given up on everything and are willing to do pretty much anything to get their target without caring even a tiny bit about who gets caught as collateral damage in the process. My personal sense is she didn’t even care that much if she died or got caught in the crossfire. She obviously preferred not to get caught, but it definitely seems to me that even when she did get caught she was so out of her mind she barely even was aware of the fact she had been caught. Talk about scary.
She planned a crime, at the police station, where Monk has worked for several years and knowing Monk's effectiveness in solving impossible cases. Very bad planning, you can't beat Monk.
I laughed at Randy cutting into the conversation with the guy who had the same jacket as him.😂 Also, it’s just such an amazingly small detail that it came down to envelope sizes that tipped Monk off to who the culprit was. Truly an incredible detective!😊❤
Monk means so much to me. Growing up I felt like the odd girl out but the show gave me so many ways to express things I had trouble with. The show was part of my self-discovery journey and it's just really special. Monk is also my comfort show.
That response of Captain Stottlemeyer talking about thinking about his brother every day always gets me. He so easily could have either overplayed it or underplayed it, but for me he hits it just right, and it is a really powerful moment that captures how probably 90% of cops feel after having to kill someone in self-defense, (I leave off 10% for the true psychopaths that are attracted to the job who probably get a sick thrill out of it).
What she really meant to say was that she couldn’t live without him being with her. What she couldn’t live with was watching him with another woman. One of those “if I can’t have you then no one can” situations
Yep, what I love about is after the reveal there is no denial, running away, or physical confrontation. Only a cop that has been doing this job for years and admitted, surrendered, and cooperated calmly all while getting gingerbread cookies. It was a bit creepy
Killing her off in style! Simply because we [the audience] WOULD NEVER see it coming. LOL I loved her character, but then got her back when Lucifer came around.
See if Monk didn't realize that Alice mixed up the cards he would have never figured it out so fast I mean he probably would have figured it out but that helped him get a quick Head Start into figuring out who killed Terry😮
Well he was technically on the verge of getting divorced by his wife when he dated Alice for 7 months before he changed his mind and made it work again because he had two kids but you're right she shouldn't have taken his life when he decided to go back to his wife and his kids his family comes first😢

🙄🙄.. "Alice" (Rachael Harris) is such a sociopath that, even after she is revealed to be the murderer, what is her priority?? Getting the cookies out of the oven. She didn't even try to deny doing it, and she only became emotional when her mistake of mixing up the gift cards is what proved to be her undoing. *THAT* was what provoked an emotional response from her--not the fact that she had cold-bloodedly killed a father and a husband..😒😒

I was flabbergasted when I found out. I'm quick to be fooled by different costumes but with a voice as distinct as his, I'd usually recognize the actor. But the roles were just too far from each other.
She'll get a slap on the hand &/or get out of prison early for being a model prisoner, and where a guy would go for any sort of similar reason and they'd throw away the key 🤔😮😉😅 Excellent TV series though 👏 👌 👍

She clearly wasn't thinking about other people getting caught up in her scheme so long as Terry died.
He could easily have poured a glass for most of the people at that party; it was a full-sized bottle, and port servings are small.

Randy trying to choose Natalie over an actual detective... Lol
Actually a good choice since she solves more cases than anyone else in the show other than Monk.
that guy was like are you serious you have no other choice and your still hesitating
Natalie is more like an unofficial private detective and officially a private detective's assistant.
Natalie and Randy should've ended up together instead of Randy and Sharona🤮

Here’s what happened
A former cop killed her ex and almost fooling everyone by thinking it was a target on the captain
Imagine being a cop that works at the same station where Monk consults at and then killing somebody knowing Monk would investigate.
I thought of that too. Knowing how good Monk is and he was right there, that was the worst place to do that.

This was the first episode of Monk I saw way back in the early 2000's.
13:10 Well, now, Alice is going to have to live without Terry Chasen…for life…in a California State Penitentiary.
Unless her defense attorney introduces evidence that everyone was just acting.
