  • Ala Moana Center is a shopping mall located in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is the largest open-air shopping center in the world and is home to over 350 stores and restaurants, including luxury brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton, as well as popular department stores like Nordstrom and Macy's.
The mall is situated on a 100-acre property near the Ala Moana Beach Park and was first opened in 1959. Since then, it has undergone numerous renovations and expansions, and today, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hawaii.
Aside from shopping, Ala Moana Center also offers a range of entertainment options, such as a movie theater, a performance stage, and a food court with various dining options. The mall also hosts several events throughout the year, such as concerts, fashion shows, and cultural festivals.

I’m a native to Oahu and I’ve been to Ala Moana all my life. It’s got everything from stores including some local businesses, awesome food, restaurants, and so much more. I’m excited for Sugar Factory coming soon😁 After researching the restaurant and it’s awesome menu, I’m like, “I’m definitely feeding my sweet tooth there😋” Just have to await the opening date as it’s still under construction.

I went to UH at Manoa back in 1992 to 1993 during Iniki. Take the 6 Nuuanu to ala moana shopping center food court to eat yummy's Korean bbq for $6 chicken plate of four sides and two scoops of rice.

Nice mall. Did you say free parking but security can tow your car after 10:30pm? At 10:30pm I hope I still wouldn't be shopping, that late at night 😂😂. What time does that mall close?

Depends where you park. Ala Moana has bars and restaurants that close at 12 midnight. I usually park on that side of the mall.

I visited the Ala Moana Center during my trip mainly to check out the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk - Food Court, which unfortunately has closed down. 😢 The parking lot is the only other spot I remember of this mall. 😅 11:55 Cool Yayoi Kusama's art installation here. I enjoyed seeing this virtual tour of the spacious open-air shopping mall. Thank you for sharing, AK! 🤗

Unfortunately the rail system will not reach Alamoana this year, but they managed to build it towards Kakaako and will stop until “more funding” (cough) taxpayers money to build to Alamoana shopping mall.
