Yeah I put a pair of quick couplings on mine. The actual auger isn’t designed right. It’s like drilling into metal with a blunt drill bit but it goes alright in soft dirt. If you hit roots or rocks it’s best to crow bar the hole and try again.
@@kdegraa it isn’t the same machine as a UHI but it is the same post hole digger. The Chinese diggers are getting better slowly but again you get what you pay for. Saying that parts for these machines are cheep. The real name machines can cost thousands for parts.
Looks good Dave, those augers can be very handy in the right conditions. I didn't bother to get one with my digger though because my place is just too rocky. You have got me inspired to get a tipper of some sort now after seeing your little tip truck, not sure what yet may actually go with a tipping trailer. What were the 9 attachments you got with your machine? Maybe if you put a male coupling on one side of the dipper arm and female on the other then you will always hook it up the right way. cheers mate.
That's how I have the quick connects on the stick of my UME12S set up. Female on right side, male on left. Keeps my tilt bucket connected the right way around everytime and also means I can connect the ends of the tilt bucket hoses into each other when it's off the digger which keeps the fluid in and saves dust and dirt getting into the hose fittings without the need for the red rubber caps (obviously they are still needed on the connectors on the digger arm). Doing it male/female also means I can simply buy a male/female pair when I need more attachments (ebay mostly sells the couplings as male/female pairs).
A lot of the Chinese sellers seem to have the same inclusions. There is a 200mm trenching bucket, a 500mm trenching bucket, a 500 gummy bucket (no teeth), an 800mm mud bucket, a stick rake (haven't used as yet), a single tyne ripper, a log carry, the auger . . . and what else? I did have them mentioned in the first video on the digger. The couplings - yes it is a personal choice I reckon. I am used to having the female coupling mounted onto my tractor that way, so doesn't seem weird at all.
Dave, great videos on the excavator. Could you please do one on topping up the hydraulic oil. I have tried but only managed to get it everywhere. Op manual useless.

The dealer did say that the best way is to retract the stick, put a small funnel filled with fluid into the breather pipe and then with the motor running extend the stick out so the cylinders draws the fluid in. The quick attach fittings is a brilliant tip. I am about to install mine but I think I will wait until I get those fittings.
I think you have the auger the right way for sure. I still need to get a set of quick release couplings, they look much better.
Thanks Ian. The auger usually works OK in my soil but some areas with heavy clay do slow it down. So far the couplings are working well and no leaks!

AWSOME video mate easy to understand well done , looking at buying a machine and was wondering how easy it was to attach auger drive 👍
Those quick connector dust caps are designed to plug into each other while not in use, that way they keep clean and wont flop around in the breeze :)

I’m really undecided about excavators from China, whether they are worth the money or not.

@@TreeChangeFarmer I use the rake for tilling ground to turn into garden beds. Works pretty well.

Nitrogen would be to charge the accumulator in the rock hammer
