That is one of the most impressive 1ton mini exs Ive ever seen. Not only hydro thumb but also swing boom. People underestimate the utility of that feature, especially working close to structures, fences, etc. Thats a nice one.
I’ve been seeing more and more of these mini excavator videos and they do seem very handy, they sure beat a shovel and pickax. Thank you for sharing sir.
I have the ZH20D Groundhog and love it. Recently worked around an old septic tank. Mostly used for Sumac tree removal along a 1 mile fence line with the rake attachment.
@@normhowes2975 You should post some videos of your ZH20D in action. It's a very popular model and one of my favorites. I'm sure there are many people that would watch them. It sounds like your into some interesting jobs.
@@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator I would love to do that but after 20 years watching others on here I have never posted a video. And after 120 hours I am still very jerky at the controls.
You convinced me I need to get that rake for my mini! Perhaps think about getting the quick attach add on, makes that task take minutes and only 1 bolt.
Well to be honest I already have a quick attach but it doesn't fit all of my attachments. You also loose some breakout force that I've noticed when Im using my ripper to tear up roots. I think a quick attach would be more handy on a larger Excavator where the attachments are heavier and harder to manhandle. Just my opinion though. Some owners are very happy with their quick attach.
An easy way to change buckets etc is to put the dogleg on first, then lift it clear of the ground and suck the ram in and it lines the dipper holes up pretty much by itself. That's how we used to do it on big diggers before quick hitches.

A DR Brush trimmer can get into those small and large areas of overgrowth and ferns so much quicker and easier and will do a great job after you remove the large trees and rotting stumps.
Just bought a rake for my H12 and using it to clean creek out its nice but teeth will bend if u pulling on them sideways dont regret the purchase but ordered the ripper off of ebay it better suited to my rocky terrian.
I definitely agree that the light weight rake will bend easily but I have bought the heavy duty rake from Groundhog Equipment and haven't had any issues with it yet. I would definitely recommend buying the heavy duty attachments.
Just posted a video of my using one of these pairs up with the TMK 150 tree sheer. mind blown with how fast I was able to clear land with one of these.
the tree sheer was about 4500 cad and then a little extra for the custom mount. I gauged my machine at 2600 psi for the auxiliary output and this tree sheer is rated for 3000 so its pretty close to the perfect size. that gives it the ability to cut down 6" diameter trees! @@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator
Well sir, you are pretty handy on that thing. Hydraulics seem smoother on this unit compared to others I have watched. Great piece of equipment. What is that extension you have on the dozer blade. Seems like it would useful for both stability and scooping up material when you roll the bucket towards you.
The attachment you asked about is a box blade which was manufactured for a garden tractor. I modified it to fit the GroundHog. You'll have to watch the video where I repaired my driveway with it. It works pretty good. Thanks for watching.
Awesome! You'll have to let me know how it handles the logs. As my channel grows I would like to add other Excavator's and the BH24D is one I'm considering. It's becoming very popular.
I believe the max reach on this model is 8'6" and it weighes 2100lb with rubber tracks and 2700lbs with steel track's. Groundhog Equipment also offers an internal and external counter weight kit for this model.. You'll have to call groundhog to get the max digging depth. I don't have those numbers currently.
If you check my video where I used the box blade on my Groundhog to fix my driveway. I left an Amazon affiliate link so you can see the box blade that I modified to fit my excavator. Other than assembling the blade I only had to drill and tap some 3/8 holes to bolt the box blade to my excavator blade. It's Pretty easy to do.
Call Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA. I was just over Friday to do some videos and they had them in three different widths. I bought their widest rake for a future video. I recommend asking for the heavy duty rakes because the light weight rakes bend to easy. To tell the truth I believe they quit stocking the light ones but just ask anyway. Don't forget to asked for the Gardners Groundhog's discount only available through Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA. Hope this helps but remember Groundhog Equipment supplies 28 dealers and loads go out to them daily so I wouldn't wait if you really want one. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Hey let me know how you make out getting that rake. I looked through most of the inventory Friday looking for something new for channel so I know they had them.
@johnelmore9755 The Groundhog ZH12G mini excavator is very similar to yours except for the modifications Groundhog Equipment has made to them. They should be able to fix you up with attachments. Groundhog Equipment has more than 40 different attachments for their 14 HP up to 24 HP mini excavators which all share the same attachments for the most part. You should verify your pin size because they will probably ask but I don't think you'll have a problem.
@@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator I called them this morning and after they found out I was in North Carolina they recommended one of their dealers near me and gave me their number. I called them and they have it in stock. Thanks again.
Yes I definitely would. If you don't need the option to be able to dig in tight places it would be a waste of money you could maybe put towards other attachments.
Currently you would have to own a 25 HP Groundhog to be able to run a hydraulic flail mower which is available through Groundhog equipment. Nick Hackenberg has two videos of the flail mower in action. The One ton gas models currently don't have this option but Nick was looking into a sickle bar for these units. I adapted a DR string trimmer to mine which I had pretty good luck with. I have several videos showing it in action.
How much did you pay for yours I got mine brand new today after taxes and all with 2 attachments $12,500 and it has 19 horsepower kubota diesel engine I’m hoping I got a good deal
Well currently the BH14G-2 costs $8,900 but from time to time it goes on sale. The main reason you paid a little more is you have a Kubota diesel which does add to the cost of the excavator. Which model did you buy? Your price is still about half of what you would pay for a 1 ton bobcat mini excavator.
@@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator it’s a rippa 1.3 ton it has the standard tooth bucket, hydraulic thumb, a ripper bucket and a 2 & 1/2 ft smooth hydraulic tilt bucket and the kubota diesel It’s brand new and actually has a nice digital display similar to a kubota u17
